I actually think Karl approached this with a better mindset. He is realisitic about his experiences and has legitimate worries about problems that could be caused by Warwick. Warwick on the other hand enters the whole situation with a goal to educate another grown man which is actually kind of arrogant. If you approach another man with the attitude of "trying to enthuse them about stuff like I do with my son" youd be lucky not to get a smack in the face. Warwick does change though and so does Karl, they develop some real cool friendship-moments and banter

Warwick is used to being coddled because of his disability and sheltered middle class upbringing. He doesn't realize how hard it is for others who aren't privileged. One walk outside of his developed country would prove that and Karl has experienced it. Yet Ricky set it up to give Warwick special treatment and Karl suffering.
