When Coach Prime first went to JSU, those kids were hungry and eagerly ready for the type of leadership that he brought to them. That’s why that program became so dominant under his regime. He’s realizing that Colorado isn’t JSU; from a desire to compete perspective. When you’ve been a loser for so long, winning can be a very dim light at the end of a really long tunnel. I just don’t see a lot of heart, passion, drive and a desire to compete with the majority of these kids. Coach isn’t sounding like he’s impressed, much.

A word of advice: The Colorado Buffaloes have an offensive line that is growing up and the same is true of your defensive line. In addition, you have a QB that holds the ball too damn long, tending to scramble and get sacked. This will lead to poor decisions and potential injuries. Your offensive plays are too predictable, primarily because you are demanding too much of your QB. He feels he has to hold the ball for a big play. These are your weaknesses. Now, your strengths: Your QB is exceptionally accurate. You have world class wide-outs and decent running backs. On defense, you have excellent linebackers, safeties and corners. Play to your strength - speed. Solution: On offense: Your OC must draw up plays that require the QB to get the ball out quickly - slants, screens, backs out of the back field, etc. This strategy mitigates your poor offensive line play, forces your QB to throw quickly and opens the field for your most skilled offensive players to run free. Yes, continue to try and run the ball, making your offensive line get better and better. But your 'bread and butter' should be quick, short passes to your most skilled players. On defense: Shut down the running game PERIOD. Put a spy on the QB. Make sure someone is following backs coming out of the backfield. Too often, I see our opponents backs running free out of the back field with no one near them. Somebody must shadow any back coming in motion out of the back field. Quite tackling high. Hit them at their belt buckle and take them down. Your linebackers must back up the defensive line. No one gets past our linebackers PERIOD. Force our opponents to throw the ball. We have top drawer safeties and corners that can defend and intercept. Finally, be patient. This team is growing with every game they play. Win or lose, they are getting better and better. So, keep demanding excellence and they will respond. Open up your play book and become more creative. Buffs to the playoffs this year.
