while you have engine apart, make sure to remove front cover and do the aftermarket fix on the dowel pin that sometimes drops into front gear cover. Very easy fix. Great work, Bill

Thanks to Dalton to turning me on to this channel, I'm really liking this. I don't know squat about deisels, except for the basic stuff--they use glow plugs, injectors, different pumps, stuff like that. I worked for various moving companies. That experience, as a driver, is what actually introduced me to deisels. As a driver, I just had to simply keep fluids topped off, do a simple once-over check on the appearance and performance. Everything else was handled, you know, the "major stuff," by a shop. My truck was a Freightliner FL70, with a Cat 3126, with an Allison 6. That thing was bulletproof and took alot of abuse. Friend of mine has a 1969 Pacemaker 50-foot yacht, runs twin 3126's, coincidentally. No, I didn't mess with that, as I really don't know much about deisels overall. By the way, no, I didn't own the FL, it was the company's truck. I just drove it. I'm normally from the planet Gasoline, mainly vintage/classic stuff--small blocks, Hemis, straight 6's and 8's, etc.. I drag and daily a 68 Galaxie and a 78 Impala. Alot of 40's to 70's stuff. As for Travis, I'm learning quite a bit here, be it Cat or Cummins or whatever.

I recall doing doing an overdrive bypass on an old Transam I had that needed overdrive. Seems like I used an oiled pressure switch ran to ground. Screwed that into the 4 pressure band screw on the side of the trans. Worked good. Too bad KZbin didn’t exist back when I did work on cars. I think I would have liked doing vids on that. Perhaps, it’s not too late, lol. I still know my way around an engine bay. Thanks for the vid. It was good!

Travis that engine stand had to be extra heavy duty. I can see where that’s a pretty good investment. Plus the rebuild on that engine will take quite a bit of time. So understand why your not going to jump on this.Your transmission problem solved. Outstanding! 💯👊👍

Its a shame what some yahoo did to that engine by burning unrefined food-grade oil in it. The culprit for all the damage was glycerin that's in the oil. You just can't dump food-grade oil into the fuel tank. The oil needs to be refined; chemicals need to be added in the process of refining; the glycerin has to be separated. If the refining is done properly, then the oil can be burned in a diesel engine. Glycerin is the culprit for all the stickiness and piston ring damage as well as lubrication starvation to the entire engine. What a damn shame.
@kirkhemmens1626

I think you should just hone number 6 cylinder the best you can , or if you have or can borrow a boring tool, bore out the cylinder and slap it back together. It was already running on 5 cyls. So it will smoke a little. New rings, hone job and put it in an old beater of some sort. It would make a great video. Don't give up so easy. I've seen way worse engines brought back to life on will it runs.
