Regular vinegar will help remove mortar & cement. Put 50/50 vinegar/water in a spray bottle, spray the boards, let them let them set a few minutes, scrape, and wipe with a rag with just water to remove vinegar. You don't want the spray to dry before scraping, so you need to spray 3 or 4 boards at a time.

Every year when all the tapoles morphed into frogs they made a bee line from the river bed to the fire station appliance bay and ended up falling through the metal gratings into the inspection pit. First job every Saturday morning before weekly scrub out we collected about three bucket fulls if them and took them back to the river. It was exactly the same every week with the frogs getting bigger and bigger. I have no idea what they find so attractive about an oil stained concrete inspection pit over a lovely river but they still do it to this day. We did have some fun releasing a bucket or two of them into the clerks office and listening to the high pitched screams of the poor woman whilst standing in her chair. 😂😂

A pit. Wonderful! Now you can really work on your machines. A automotive/heavy machinery pit is perfect. I get it now. The mirror was for timing the engines. Andrew built his workbenches out of concrete with steel legs. Andrew should dig a pit in the middle of his container garage/castle.

Workshop looks so much better, worth all the time, money and hard work. If you have not already made them, concrete work benches are great but they need a steel outer edge, otherwise it will chip and break out . But you probably already know this.

Hi! For the tunnel, maybe you could lower the support for the planks and attach plywood to the top of a couple of planks. That way it would be more uniform and you wouldn't have to number them. You would just have panels or sections to remove when you need to. By the way, you make great content and I like your sense of humor! Hope Keanu will show up some day 😆

Maybe consider using a waterproof concrete paint/sealer to seal to the walls and floor of your "tunnel of love", to eliminate the dampness down there? Also consider adding a finger hole to the ends of your boards to make it easier to remove them, and to promote a bit of ventilation? The shop looks a whole lot better! I especially like your varnished boulder wall. It'll be nice to see it all back together.

i think i should have added a vent pipe down there when i built the thing, its really hard or impossible to do now. The sealer is a interesting and good idea Thanks Philip
