Saw Steve in concert last year - my son took me (he is very much a fan of stuff being produced nowadays), but after the concert he ditched all his CD's/downloads and has bought everything of Steve's music he can lay his hands on!! Nice one son!

There's always something special about hearing a piece live, even with a couple of imperfections. My favourite version though is from the Genesis Revisited album.

Saw him a year ago, like here I felt he rushed through Horizons just to be done with it. It's a piece to be savored, I think the album tempo is the best.

He plays bit of Bach's Cello suite No. 1 BWV 1007. About 1:49- 1:51. Definetely he knows the piece.

In his album "Tribute", Steve plays a few pieces from Bach.

Suppers Ready is my favourite track by any artist. I love Genesis with Peter Gabriel on vocals but Steve Hackett does a fantastic job wih Nad Sylvia on vocals. Better than what Genesis did with Phil Collins. Brilliant

Could someone who plays a guitar tell me if this is a hard song to learn? I can't play anything on a guitar, but guitarists such as Hackett and Steve Howe, have inspired me to learn to play the acoustic guitar. This song in particular is one that I would very much like to learn.

+aDotFromTheFuture It depends on your talent, I guess. "Horizons" involves a lot of fingerpicking, a technique many beginners learn to some degree after they nailed their first chords. There are some tricky parts in it, but its not very hard. On a difficulty scale from 1 (two chord-campfire songs) to 10 (Dream Theater), I would rate Horizons 4. Definetly do-able, but you need to learn some basics before. Take your time. Good luck!

+aDotFromTheFuture it's not that hard. Not as easy as mood for a day but not as hard as the clap.

Have to agree, perfect execution but a little too fast for me, seems to take away something from the dynamic of the song.

Steve always seem to play this on a nylon classical live. I prefer the sound of the steel-strung original recording.

Does anyone know what piece of music Steve uses to introduce "Horizons" here? I've seen clips of other shows of his and this same beautiful intro is there!

Glenn Gould experimented with playing Bach much slower than usual, and much faster. At different tempos, some things become deemphasized, others become emphasized. Some tempos seem to bring out the finest aesthetic balance, but it is always interesting to hear a piece of music at an unusual tempo.
