Natty only ever released two songs as a soloist called Nineteen & Teddy Bear before going back to being a trainee. Considering people knew Natty from Sixteen & Idol School she had some popularity but a majority of it was international.

i don’t think that’s necessarily true. are you saying she should’ve been doing mature concepts as a child ??? i think she could do well with any concept with a good company and proper management. she’s an adult now so ofc she’s doing well with a mature concept. her success is mainly attributed to the fact that she’s been a trainee for over 10 years. she’ll do well with whatever you give her. also we’ve actually reached a point in kpop where people are getting sick of the whole cutesy concept and the debuted minors thing. so kiss of life is extremely appealing to people right now

Also I believe it's the international fans that are tired with the cutesy concept and debuting minors, that's why kiof became popular instantly internationally. They're still building a fanbase in sk though. Let's be honest k-fans are a sucker for cutesy concepts. It's good that they caught their attention too

She struggled a lot but, in retrospect, THANK GOD it went the way that it did. She didn't debut with Twice because of being too young (GOOD CHOICE), she didn't debut in Fromis_9 who turned out to have a rigged lineup and are ignored by their company, PLEDIS always mistreat their female artists, and even with the solo debut, she said multiple times that she wished to be with other girls in a group instead of alone. KISS of LIFE perfectly compliments her color :)

And basically her only option at SM would have been Aespa at that point, because there’s no way they would have debuted her in red velvet at 13 when the rest of them were adults. She would have had to train for 9 years there and likely wouldn’t have debuted in aespa anyway since I don’t think she quite matches the concept, and while she can sing I think she’s a much better dancer

I never noticed Natty until Kiof (but boy, did I notice her!), so I didn’t know anything about her past. Obviously she was talented at a young age, or major companies wouldn’t have invested their time in her. Still, sometimes you just need to grow up a bit in order to realize your potential. I’m very impressed with her tenacity, and pleased that her patience and hard work have paid off, but it also makes me wonder if she’s made any money so far. An awful lot of seemingly successful performers find themselves in a lot of debt.
