If you know anything about dinosaurs, you are most likely familiar with Walking with Dinosaurs - a six-part mini-series by the BBC that aired in 1999. That’s because it’s considered by most to be the best dinosaur documentary series ever made. It’s 25 years out of date, and new series that follow the nature documentary style have come out to fill the void but Walking with Dinosaurs remains the pinnacle of dinosaur documentaries - shown to dino nerds, science classes, and more!

I really don't want any talking heads or cutaway segments at all. I feel like the main attraction to Walking with Dinosaurs is the fact it was a nature documentary in its format and showed off the Dinosaurs like any other animal which made them more relatable. I kinda hope it only ten minutes long in each episode total so overall we get more "Dinosaur content" but my worst fear is the majority of the episodes are talking heads and explanations of stuff better shown on screen.

Personally I’m hoping a sequence involving Dilophosaurus, if only to highlight how big and robust the actual animal was without the need for venom or a frill. Maybe it could be part of an episode centring on the Triassic Jurassic biotic turnover, with the extinction of Rauisuchians and Dicynodonts giving rise to giant dinosaurs (Hopefully with less of a “Out with the old in with the New” narrative the original series had).

I love all the speculation about Alberta and the two unannounced episodes (I took part in filming both 🤫). The BBC has done an amazing job consulting with our lab and incorporating all the actual science we gave them. The CGI story will echo the original but our component will be an entirely new take on Paleo media. No talking heads, we are wayyy cooler than that.

My two requirements for this new series ( 1 ) They have to have at least one episode in the Triassic. ( 2 ) They also need to have Gilderoy Lockhar- I mean Sir Kenneth Branagh as the narrator. ( 3 ) They have to have a good soundtrack that goes very hard at times. I wouldn't be as mad if the last two requirements aren't met. But I will cry if the first condition is not met.

Also, I highly doubt that they would be able to cram four stories into a 60 minute episode. Even if they somehow manage to do it, I will not like it! So here's all the potential episodes in the order I think they will be presented- 1. Potential ( and hopeful) Triassic episode. 2. Lusotitan episode 3. Utahraptor and Gastonia episode 4. Spinosaurus episode 5. Alberta episode 6. Triceratops episode Again, this is just me guessing the order of the episodes.

@@mystere4838I would have to agree with you. Attenborough doesn't really capture the essence of the documentary. One last thing I would like to address. I’m disappointed that they’re not sticking with the original presentation; primarily for the outreach of it. Yes, I want to hear facts, of course I do. But it seems for most people, being able to be sucked in by the visage, seeing instead of hearing is what draws them in. I’d love to have another boost of people knowing other dinosaurs as household names. Alas, we may get that reaction nonetheless.

As it has been confirmed that each episode is an hour long, it could be very similar to what Prehistoric Planet and other modern documentaries structured their episodes. Tim Haines' direction, Kenneth Branagh's narration, Ben Barlett's music, the usage of computer-generated imagery and animatronics, real locations, gory encounters, tragic stories and endings, have all contributed to the success of Walking with Dinosaurs. Personally, I think that, if they succeed with this new Walking with Dinosaurs, they should later remake Walking with Beasts, Walking with Monsters, and Walking with Cavemen. As for the episodes that are supposedly being shown, I personally think that the episodes from the original series that should get a "remake" should be New Blood, Time of the Titans, and Death of a Dynasty, though remake would likely be a bad choice of words since it'll probably be a completely different storyline. But if they're going to use the Hellcreek formation again, they'd better get it right this time. The original series had it look like a volcanic landscape which, according to Red Raptor Writes, was completely wrong. I think a better film location for the Hellcreek episode should be the swamp that 1995's The Ultimate Guide to T-Rex used, or perhaps the swamp that was used for the Bengal Swamp episode of The Future is Wild. Either one of those would be a better film location than the one used in the original series.

Note that the Cedar mtn formation covers a HUGE amount of time. Utahraptor and Gastonia come primarily from the yellow cat member, which has a largely different fauna than others like the ruby ranch member where deinonychus and tenontosaurus are found, which also note is 10-15 million years younger than yellow cat. So while it would make sense to see falcarius, hippodraco, or Cedarosaurus, I wouldn’t except to see abydosaurus, moros, siats, and others as they come from rocks of different ages than yellow cat.

I find the Cedar Mountain Formation a pretty difficult location for a story to take place in. Because as diverse as the fossil fauna is there, the formation stretches a very long length of time (roughly 40 million years), so not every single species found at the Cedar Mountain would've interacted, or even coexisted with each other. If utahraptor is indeed the main star of the Utah episode, then dinosaurs such as deinonychus, tenontosaurus, siats, eolambia, and moros can't be featured for accuracy reasons because those species lived much later than utahraptor.

The original series episodes were set at the following times: -220 mya -152 mya -149 mya -127 mya -106 mya -65.5 mya It occurs to me the Cedar mountain episode and the proposed Spinosaurus episode aren't that far off temporally from the fourth and fifth episodes of the original series. I'd personally also like the Alberta episode to be the Triceratops episode, and that would make sense as the faunal assemblages aren't different from the earlier Alberta formations, so might be desirable to have that be the Triceratops episode. I'd be surprised if there is no Triassic episode (personally would love to see the Ischigualasto Formation). The Portugal episode is quite possibly in place of the Morrison episode in the original, which would leave space for one more episode, maybe back to the Oxford clay or alterntively the Western Interior Sea Way. If they go with the later and focus it on Pteranodon they would get an episode with a pterosaur main character that also shows lots of Marine life, that way they avoid ignoring pterosaurs and marine reptiles.

I can’t wait for this series. I Loved the first series. But, I love anything dealing with Dinosaurs. I have watched alot of them on KZbin. I can’t get enough of them. I really wished to be a paleontologist. And still yet I can only dream of it. Never had a chance. Oh well, I guess this is the next best thing. Lol.

I’m always a huge fan of the walking with dinosaurs, T-Rex and the color design maybe in my resemble a little bit and turn the color. That’s hope they bring new species and I heard rumors that they’re going to be based on real life specimens like he did with the big Al documentary special like the triceratops episode it might be based on the yoshi trike but who knows unfortunately, they probably won’t do big John because big John is now a private specimen and you can’t study private specimens at least not do I No of.

After the many recent discoveries of Triassic giant Ichthyosaurs it would be great to have a “Cruel Sea” style episode set in that time period. However given that most series work chronologically I doubt it will go for something like that first.

A: its a hype article B: *technically* based on its dimensions, it is the largest theropod (being the longest and tallest, to my knowledge) Ofc, weight is the objective answer to the educated, but to the uneducated who use length over weight its techbically a true fact
@GODEYE270115
@GODEYE270115 2 ай бұрын
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey no because biology uses mass as the ultimate dictator for size. We don’t refer to the giraffe as the largest land animal today right? Even though it’s longer and taller than the elephant. Even the uneducated know this, I don’t understand why people forget this when it comes to spinosaurus. Spinosaurus is longer but far from the most massive. Also it’s shorter at the hip and head than other theropods

Honestly, all I want from WWD2 is: 1- DO NOT END IT WITH THE ASTEROID 2- DO NOT SHOW ME T-REX SPECIFICALLY BEING PWN'D BY THE ASTEROID!!! I'm literally SO tired of T-Rex shows up at the end, looks cool for a sec: owned. They don't even detail the event! There's never a lengthy segment about what it did to our planet, who survived and how, how long it took to recover and what a world would have looked like 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 years post-impact. They just throw that bigass rock at T-Rex and go "k, yall have a blessed evening". Pls god, pls show me face biting! Show me chicks! Show me sleepy adult rex layin down for a nap...just don't you show me that effing rock if you're not gonna dedicate at least 20 mins to it at the end. I get that it's kind of a big deal or whatever, but Prehistoric Planet will always be the realest of all time for leavin that shit out.

Exciting news! Not much is known as this point besides a few locations and species. Even though I doubt this will happen; I admit that it would be cool if Pierre de Lespinois directed at least one segment/episode. He mainly directed non-Walking with... documentaries, but did manage to do portions of the American version of Walking with Cavemen and was the initial director of the WWD movie before being replaced, likely due to Fox's mandate of adding distracting voiceovers. The financial setback for the movie, largely caused by this, doomed his studio Evergreen Films, but it would be so cool if he could've gotten another chance at directing this new one to make up for that.

@M0oseTacular fair, maybe I shouldn't be throwing insults, absolutely. But will that stop me from calling your behavior stupid and unnecessary doubting when on a nature perspective that is blatantly not the case? *absolutely* How can you say "everything BBC makes is ass" when their nature/natural history content ranges into consistent god tier content, with: The OG WWD PrehisPlanet 1 and 2 7 World 1 Planet Planet Earth 1,2 and 3 Our Planet 1 and 2 Blue Planet 1 and 2 Frozen Planet And so, so god damn much more Yeah, I'm GONNA call you stupid when I think you are genuinely being unnecessarily doubtful. Sure, you're being critical, but the thing you're being critical of hasn't been officially confirmed for any longer than 2 fucking weeks. I don't care about your situation and never will, I'm talking about this context specifically. That’s like saying you’re getting bored with an episode about the Serengeti Plains. I still love the Hell Creek Formation, no matter how many times they shove it in my face. Our studies about the formation is constantly changing, but it still fascinates many people. But if the documentary wants to change location that is adjacent to Hell Creek or a different formation entirely, then that is okay. As for what I’m looking forward to seeing in the documentary, I’m hoping that either some pachycephalosaurs or pseudosuchians show up. At least have them be in the background or as a subplot before going back to the episode’s main dinosaur.
