It was level on those terms but I swear I haven't seen peak Liverpool (excluding 20/21 and 22/23 seasons) facing such constant threat on their goal. McTominay had an immense impact this game. Opener, eqalising assist, and the clearance which led to the counter for the fourth goal. Nobody talked about him. One of the few players who wasn't on excessive wages, no controversies, just a top professional. Gave great service to the club, but the money we would have gotten for him would be more useful for us to fill bigger holes in the squad, and he is going to a club where he will get more minutes because it suits his game. @@MichellAnderson-ry4oxWan-Bisaka played well at LB before he was subbed off, and he had just come back after a 2 or 3 month injury. I think Antony would work best as a late sub, especially if Utd are down a goal or at a stalemate, as a wingback because of his aggression, pressing ability, and self-sacrifice. I’ve noticed that Antony’s become less and less selfish on the ball and has also significantly reduced his attempts at showboating as the weeks have gone by. I have been critical of his ability in the Prem, but I’m happy he’s scored yet another vital goal for the club. I don’t think he should be sold this transfer window. It’s not because there are next to no clubs in Europe that would gladly pay his 80+ million transfer fee for Utd to break even, but it’s because I believe he can be developed as a defensive asset for vital moments like in this game. He’s only just turned 23, so I reckon he’s got at least 7 more years of topflight European football if he remains ravenously ambitious and mostly injury free.
