Its been 10 years since I tied the muddeler minow or any fly for that matter. Your video brings back fond memories. Had to stop fly fishing because multiple sclerosis. That for the video.

Very nice. I didn’t know the trick using wax to set the wing. I wish you had explain the reason for it though. I suppose it prevents the quill from splaying.
@Thefeatherbender5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Dyneema tying thread that is the best thread for tying with deer hair is very slippery, the wax give it more traction when tying in the wing.

Hey pardon me because I am a beginner to tying, may I ask are you using silver thread on the body at the beginning and to secure the tail? List of materials needed?

Hi Jordan, No its a tying thread called Dyneema you can see my video here about it :kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJyyY41qgtx1d80

Hi, i like your accurate and clean tying style! Have you tried to cut the ends off from the deer hair collar? That way the deerhair head might blend in better into the collar. Hope my english is not too bad. All the best.

This is a killer fly for big brown trout if fished properly. I like to flatten the bottom of the head so that when fishing, it submerges neatly with one tug.

Thanks Rob, yes one of my top patterns also...

Hey Barry, they make pre-waxed thread.
@Thefeatherbender Жыл бұрын
Hi Edward, they sure do, but using wax will totally change your tying! You should give it a go...

Barry, never saw any use in wax! I tied a few flies over the years, and not an issue. Cheers, Muzzy

when tying quill you said you can't do that without wax on the line why's that what does wax do
@Thefeatherbender Жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, using wax on your tying thread stops anything and everything from slipping, it's just great to get use to using it in all your tying!
@afdalrahman70434 жыл бұрын
hello sir...what kind of deerhair did you used for this muddler minnow?

Hi Afdal, On this particular pattern I use European Roe Deer, its a great natural spinning hair.

Fantastic. Depends what you want. Bouncy comes with hollow fibers, so look for that. Fallow deer works if you want a buoyant fly.
Hi Simon, but remember, always burn from above the fly, not from below...

Bonjour Stephane, thanks. I have two of these hair stackers in different sizes, they are beautiful things but the function is not practical. Unfortunately I have no address for Andi! But on another note I have designed a set of 4 new hair stackers for deer hair and they first will be available before Christmas 2020. I will be posting a video on how to use them soon.
