This hit harder than anything I have read or heard since Oct 7. Truly she is an inspiration and I hope we can all hear and heed her call to action!

Laser focused speech by Bari Weiss! Clear, succinct, honest and a call to all Americans to defend our nation: in the schools, higher education, in the courts, in our towns and neighborhoods and everywhere we confront the bankrupt legacy of DEI, woke ideology, those who stand with our enemies. Free speech and honest discourse must be invigorated with fresh ideas and debate ; not the shouting down of guest speakers by those who are too fragile to hear an opinion they know nothing about. I shudder when I think of this ideology and how it has infected every area of society and left us with a generation of adults who are zombies incapable of an original thought. Ugh, Bari said it all and I am so moved by the testimony of those who knew Barbara Olsen. She sounded like an incredible woman. Thank you so very much for this program.

This precisely voices my thoughts on the nature of the threat that is signified by the death noises we now hear from campuses, cities, and social media at large. Democracy is fragile AF - and it might well be dying.

Here's the funny thing. People were blocked from Twitter for defending Bari's decision to print Tom Cotton's editorial in the NY Times (as Klavan says, a former newspaper). Good thing she left the Times or we would not be receiving her amazing energy and insights directly.

Reminds me of this quote, "First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out-because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out-because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me." -Martin Niemöller, German Pastor 1946 (From Eric Metaxas, Letter to the American Church) God forbid this happens again...

To be fair, the reaction to 9/11 and 10/7 was the same among the "Palestinians" - celebration and cheering and handing out sweets.
@Hibernicus1968
@Hibernicus1968 Жыл бұрын
True, but 9/11 was a generation ago, and the rot hadn't crept as far in the US and Europe. Europe hadn't imported as many Muslims, and then failed to integrate and assimilate them. And American universities weren't so far gone as they are today. The radicals were there, like Ward Churchill disgracefully referring to the victims in the twin towers as "little Eichmanns," but scumbags like him still appeared to be only a radical fringe. As Ms. Weiss said, this poisonous ideology has swallowed all of the crucial institutions that shape public opinion and popular consciousness in American life: the universities, the cultural institutions, every major museum, philanthropy, and media company, our medical schools and our law schools, the boards of nearly every major corporation, and now it's wormed its way into our high schools and even our elementary schools. People who were small children, or not even born yet on 09//11/01, have now gone through universities that were captured by the woke ideologues, and been radicalized into haters of Western civilization before going on into adult life to do their evil work. If 9/11 happened today, instead of twenty-two years ago, I'm not sure the reaction wouldn't be as ugly as some of the reactions we're seeing to 10/7.

She equates Jews with the state of Israel... This produces a lot of irony. Its also ironic how she can claim that Jews are victims without acknowledging they are also now victimizers.

Wonderful speech. My only criticism is that Ms. Weiss should have rescheduled her speech to be given on a day other than Shabbat. If she’s not observant that’s fine. However, we as Jews must recognize the power of G-d. You sully a Mitzvah ( her speech) by going against a commandment to observe Shabbat. The Federalist Society would have respected her even more and honored that request.
@AtlantaChannelC
@AtlantaChannelC Жыл бұрын
She finished her speech before sunset. There was a Shabbat dinner in the basement of the Mayflower, where the speech was given. She stayed at that hotel. I don't know whether she is observant or not (I am not Jewish and just observed the Shabbat dinner going on) but she seemed respectful of Shabbat.
