We are brand new "green" grey nomads...😅 after we purchased our caravan n vehicle this is the first thing we had done.. more for an educational purpose to understand if we were weight compliant... All good & the print out of the weight distribution provided peace of mind & showed us where to store more weight when travelling to even our loads.. highly recommend every new nomad /travelers get this done. Another good tip on the day was also checking on a three monthly basis the auto stop breakaway lead from the caravan. pull it out where mounted on caravan to ensure it's working and the van lights come on and the battery is full of power. battery life up to 3 years we believe.. one thing that's still puzzling us is where we should be attaching the lead.. directly on the car or to the towbar itself.. any help would be appreciated. cheers... awesome video

We have had the MSA set covers on our car seats for over 7 years and they are just awesome - especially with kids and all their accidental spills. We took them off not long ago to give them their first wash and were curious how many spills had seeped through to the seats - absolutely zero and the seats looks brand new!! Massively impressed with the MSA gear!!

Another great episode guys, can't get enough of Jasper. My drop down fridge slide made life so much easier, I don't have to stand on a a stool and half open the fridge to see into it. Put the MSA mirrors on my Hilux last year ,best thing ever. I would forget to attach my screw on mirrors until i started to drive off then pull over and attach them ,not now just slide them out and turn them down, to easy.

Fantastic guys , thanks so much for the info , we were pulled up randomly in Queensland and weighed on the side of the road , we had just filled up with water and fuel , we were 23 kgs over all ... we live permanently on the road .. It's scary stuff when we see some people's set up , but we don't get into conversation with weights with anyone too controversial... 😁 Enjoy your travels and you never know, we may share a camp fire one evening..

@TheFeelGoodFamily3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, so far all good - getting the vehicle towing level improved after the suspension and other truck gear upgrades has made a huge difference to how it ‘feels’ towing - future lessons would be to have a heavier vehicle and shorter/lighter van….

Desmond frost do you guys buy a lot of food from the supermarket while you are travelling who does the shopping
@jliquorish3 жыл бұрын
Hi Guys. Great episode even if the weigh in was a bit short on substance. Was there a reason you didn't publish the figures? I did a quick calculation based on 3200 for the van and kerb weight of ute at 2075 and around 320 for ball weight. GCM of 5650 leaves 375 for everything. Guess of 320 for ball only leaves 55 for you 3 and the canopy and extras on the back. Obviously the guess is only that but interesting non-the-less. This point could have been driven home or maybe because there are lots of other sites that cover this, it wasn't a consideration. Keep up the fantastic content!
@anthonydoherty15993 жыл бұрын
Not quite correct. Once the ball weight is added to the vehicle, you take it from the van for the purposes of the GCM calculation, you don’t count ball weight twice. The GCM is simply what the van weighs by itself unhitched plus what the vehicle weighs by itself unhitched. Yes, you include ball weight in your GVM calculation but once you do that, you remove that weight from the van for the purpose of the GCM calculation.
@jliquorish3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anthony. I forgot about that. I have a heavy vehicle licence and I still can get confused. What hope do "unlicensed" trailer towers have. You buy a caravan and magically have all the knowledge required to tow it safely.

Hi Guys, good segment on the weights of the car and the van. Something I had to learn very quickly after not realising all the extra information other than towing capacity. Would love to know how close to the gcm you were. The hilux is a great car but after buying a van I realised it has a low gcm compared to others. Also love the MSA towing mirrors. Fitted a set recently. So good. Cheers team.

one thing that had a berring on the closing of fireworks jn queensland a woman was breast feeding a baby in a car in the main street and someone threw a piece of fireworks at the car and it went in the open window and landed between her and the baby causing massive burns to both mum and bub.

Hi guys, would love to know your weights if your happy to share them. Our new van arrives soon and we are trying to figure out the right tow vehicle for us to use and I ruled out the Hilux as I thought it only had around 5600kg gcm. Thanks Sam
