Will the circle be Unbroken (fiddle lesson)

Will the Circle be Unbroken is an old time/bluegrass standard, perhaps best know from the album by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. In this fiddle lesson, I give three versions of the tune. First, the basic melody. To this we add some drones and shuffles. Secondly there is an old-style bluegrass solo, which is basically the melody with a lot of double stops, plus some "filler" licks. Finally I show a solo in the style of Vassar Clements, using many of his favourite licks, full of challenging dissonance, double stops and position changing.
Onscreen sheet music is used throughout, and a free pdf of the sheet music is available to subscribers (see below).

I love the format of this video with the basic, intermediate, impossible versions! I think that is what is missing in bluegrass fiddle instruction. Its been done for all the other instruments. Thank you!

Or perhaps a video about the most effective things to practice to transition from classical violin to fiddle? Or even a a video on a practice protocol/schedule?

So glad you’re taking on Vassar Clements! I have studied his playing for years. Nice to have it broken down here. Luv all your videos! Just one thing though - mixing up the country and bluegrass labels is a no-no here in America. Country is one thing, bluegrass is all together something else. Thnx!
