That's been bothering me for a long time. How hard is it to bring in a guy at 6'9 between 240lbs to 260lbs and work with him like Roy did? To me that being lazy and not wanting to coach. These 6'9 guys who can' t hang with bigger SEC teams are just nerve racking.

UNC needs to do what's best for the program, and let Hubert go. He's forever loved by the fanbase as a player, assistant and diehard Tar Heel. However, he's Matt Doherty 2.0, and UNC is quickly sinking underneath the waves while its blue blood contemporaries - Duke, UConn, KU, UK - are winning big on the court and in the recruiting/portal scenes. Although an SC alum, my family is from NC, and I have several Tar Heel alum in the family. Naturally, I've watched this program for decades and I've only ever seen this type of calamity once, and it required Roy coming home to save a sinking ship after Doherty. Hubert's just not going to fix this. If they want to keep it in the family, why not see what Wes Miller can do? He's out there winning with poverty programs and given UNC's brand, a reworking in NIL, then I think he can fix this before UNC falls off a cliff for a solid decade. I've never seen such a dramatic falling out on UNC recruiting - it's beyond embarrassing and inexcusable.

That 2022 year gave Davis a lot of runway. Getting to the final while beating K in his final home game and retiring him in the FF was like selling the program's soul. I think it allowed people to overlook the '22-'23 season. Then having a decent, though I'd argue underachieving team in '23-'24 gave him a little breathing room as well. I think the shine is wearing off this year, though. It isn't just the W/L record. It was the off season not being able to secure a big even though he knew Bacot was done. It's selling us on JWash being the answer when none of us really saw it. It's the seemingly aimless offense and, at times, almost non-existent defense. It is seeing the same issues come up over and over, from season to season, only being temporarily remedied by getting Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan last year. I want so much for Davis to succeed simply because I have so much respect for Roy Williams and what he did for the program knowing that he hand picked Davis to be his successor. Still, it is starting to become clear that perhaps Davis just isn't cutting it. The odds of us getting yet another HOF type coach from the Dean Smith tree was pretty remote to begin with.

I think it it the win/loss record he has six losses by January in most if not all of his seasons...6 to 8 losses in an entire year is more what ppl are used to and with really good UNC teams less then that.

So, is he not able to get those players, or does his system not work? He said he wants to run a pro-style offense, but you need pro-style players for that, which we DO NOT have. The biggest question we face is, how long do we give him to work it out? I'd imagine that since he had Roy's endorsement, and that he is a UNC guy, he will prob be given a lot of grace.

Good for the sport but the area isn’t big enough at the moment to support NIL for nc central or Elon… let alone the big 3 in the area. NIL needs to be reconfigured in my opinion. @ I’m still not sure I really understand the underlying mechanisms for it. My understanding is that it’s through the booster clubs and “collectives” -- which I think are much less streamlined than other programs, for example, like Alabama and other SEC schools. It’s pitiful. In no universe should UNC miss out on a big in the portal because we can’t pay more. One of the 5 most storied programs in history… you can’t tell me the money isn’t there.

His numbers are atrocious and mainly because he takes terrible shots all game. He’s supposed to be a guard, instead of forcing bad shots all game maybe create for your teammates. A good pg will make big men look a lot better. It’s not all on him but he’s 5th year senior and all American and is shooting 28% from 3 and has terrible turnovers when the game is on the line.

You can bet that several of the outstanding freshmen will be leaving at the end of this year. I am very disappointed in the way this team plays. Their defense is often lacking and there is no consistency to their shooting. This is a major problem with the transfer portal since every year you have a new team and they are not accustomed to playing together. Who would ever want to coach today?

Duke fan here. I live close to Chapel Hill and at some level can't help but enjoy seeing what is happening at Carolina. Yet, at the same time, it's important for the state of NC that UNC have a good basketball team. I just don't want to see them as good as Duke. The dynamic here is very much like it is in Kentucky. And by the way, it's nice to see Louisville moving back up. The future looks bright for the Cardinal. But here's the reality for Carolina, the basketball program is declining. I know that the Heels made the final four a couple of years ago, but they weren't that good. They just had a nice run at the end of the year. UNC's team is just in disarray. And I doubt that Hubert Davis makes it in the long run. Maybe two more years.

I like Hubert. His first year was almost perfect in the sense that we beat Duke at Cameron on coach K's last home game. Beat Duke in the National semis and almost won the national championship. The next year we were awful only save by the fact there was no tourney. Last year was better, but for the team we had, I thought we underperformed. This year is the telling sign. No real big presence on the interior. RJ looks like he has regressed. WIthers looks slow. Only our Freshman are performing. The guys we had come in to shoot the 3's have not performed... but most importantly... we look out of sync and I think Hubert is not really the man for the job.

I am not sure why Hubert does not put Cadeau on the bench and start Ian, RJ, Seth, Drake and Wash or Withers. RJ is better at the point and with this lineup they are bigger and a lot better defensively. They could go 15-5 in the ACC and get off the bubble. RJ was the point guard in the win against Notre Dame. 7 assists and 1 turnover. You have Seth and you win by 10 because of his point guard ability. You win by 15 plus if you bring Cadeau off the bench and start the lineup I mentioned. 3 scorers on the floor who can handle and some what defend and 2 bigs prefer Withers and Powell. Your team is athletic and better defensively. RJ game will flow better because less pressure and Seth and Ian are scorers.

The UNC Football team went out and said we are taking the football team to a different level. We are putting the $$$ out there. So will the AD say we are going to do the same with BB and get a real no nonsense HC that will spend and go after the top recruits and portal/NIL kids and a General Manager that will set down and say this is what we need and how much $$$ we can spend. Not a John Calipari fan, but he will have ARK in the top 5 or so another yr with the portal/NIL rules. UNC BB is different that the FB program but a 5 *** HS player wants the $$$ and also be able to play against top players before they go to NBA. This tarheels team -- aren’t worthy. I’m sorry but there’s too many weaknesses in every players game (not including the freshman) this year is a travesty. I’m Carolina Blue - thru and thru. Facts: not enough talent here. Talent includes the mental side of the game. So sad. At least they get an education (contacts for life) Hope next year brings in some upper level talent.

Don’t want to hear any UNC fan cry about NIL. For years you used your players to lure recruits and even gifts were given from Jordan to players. You had the biggest scandal in NCAA history and your players weren’t attending classes when others were. You cheated many black athletes out of real educations. You had a cheating scandal taking place since Dean Smith. You should have had no less than 3 titles stripped. It was a disgusting scandal and you should be grateful that you weren’t hit for it. So go cry somewhere else. Your program is the dirtiest of the dirty. And Dean and Roy are tarnished forever.

I knew this day was coming the day the announcement was made that HD was hired ... Unc basketball could get any coach it wanted.....could have gotten a proven winner who is young and bright, but unc ( not bubba ) hired him for other reasons...I think we all know why......We are suffering the same fate as these other teams did when they hired a coach for the wrong reasons....

Cadeau is HORRIBLE...he's wild on the court and totally unpredictable...just like Withers (who scares me too death wherever he gets the ball!!)... AND CADEAU CAN'T SHOOT AT ALL. No bigs AT ALL...And RJ, to me, is a Liability...besides the lack of NIL money, I think a lot of good bigs passed on UNC because they knew the offense was going to run primarily for RJ, and they're wanting to showcase their talents too!! The only bright spot has been Ian and Seth in a few games. PITUFUL...AND I'M A LIFE-LONG CAROLINA FAN WHO PLAYED BB IN COLLEGE MYSELF. OHHHHH AND THEIR DEFENSE IS ATROCIOUS AND NON-EXISTENT.
