Eventually the old models will be unavailable so for new collectors, buying a couple packs now or one starter pack now and a newer one once they release isnt a bad idea at all. I mean once painted and on the table, the only noticeable difference will be poses.

I think that If budget is your biggest priority, buy stuff now because as seen with the new releasses (aqua droids, crab droids, arfs) new boxes are going to have a steep price increase. Its likelly that the new corp boxes will be over 50 usd. Yes, new hard plastic models are going to be nicer, but honestly seeing as most boxes previewed have monoposes and duplicates of models Im not sure the price increase is justfied.

Have they confirmed that they are rereleasing a starter box or faction essentials boxes?

Not that I've seen. It would be bizarre if they don't release a new core though. It still says FFG on it and almost none of the cardboard is legal.
