Just stumbled across this podcast and absolutely love it! I am a CV-22 Crew Chief and had a small correction, the blade fold wing stow is both electronically and hydraulically actuated as the pylon conversion actuators and the capstan drive assembly are hydraulic through hydraulic system 3 but the blade fold motors are electronic.

Interesting, as a Marine Officer Candidate in Quantico, VA in July 1992, I watched one crash into the Chesapeake about 150m in front of me while I was waiting for our platoon to form up after chow. It was so close that I was splashed by water from the crash. Later, I found out 19 people were killed in the mishap. I swore at the time that as a Marine, I would never ride a V-22 Osprey. The image will forever be etched in my mind, God Bless their souls.

Another fantastic one Jell-O, sunshine and team . The v22 ospery is breath taking to see and the sound when they fly low over you is awesome. I live in northyorkshier in the UK and there guys use Cattrick garrison most of the time. fantastic to watch . I did hear that the traditional helcopters as we know them are going to be replaced by tiltrotor platforms .

Great episode gents! Our MWSS was on deck for the first combat deployment of the Ospreys to Iraq back in 07. It was pretty awesome to see those men and women cruising around the flight line. They were able to give morale flights between ops to some of the units of the base. Man the transition from hover to full forward flight was awesome! With the Osprey able to keep a level deck thoughout the transition it felt like we were going to slide out the back! Lol

As always a great podcast, I love that MV-22 osprey. I did first see it in Transformers and then I used to play a sandbox military game called Arma 2 had it in there too and It was fun to swing the rotors/Nacelles up and then down and you did have to take off with them ar around 30-60% so not as accurate as how DCS would do it but close enough and it was fun. Very cool guy you had on. Thanks for the interview guys as always.

Quick comment on supersonic areas. I live near Robins AFB in central Georgia where they overhaul F-15s. On the test flights after we regularly get "thumped" here. Some are mild and some rattle the dishes. No one even bats an eye.

I remember the Osprey being in the works since the 80s, wondered if it would ever get to the fleet, but I always knew that once they get experience with that technology it was going to be a huge part of the future. Very cool. So, gonna have a Harrier pilot on soon maybe?

@@FighterPilotPodcast a "power ballad" would have been more appropriate for this category 😂😂😂😂. Dumb joke but i could not resist. Sweet that you are doing harrier show in the future. Any chance you will ever get to cover MiG or SU aircraft. I think the former 4477 TES had mig 17 and 21, not sure if there are more recent birds in the inventory. It may be classified info or difficult to find a NATO pilot, but would be interesting. So, can this thing fly on one engine? I listened to this podcast a while back, but can't remember... I guess he said, if in helicopter mode, it would immediately crash, and in airplane mode you would need a runway. Can it fly/glide if it lost ALL engine power? Like a helicopter can auto-rotate, and a plane can glide. This after yet another crash that took four lives. March 19, 2022

@@FighterPilotPodcast Sweet really looking forward to that, I'll keep my eye out. I know its not your intent with the channel but I really enjoyed the ufo upload with Commander Fravor and I think with Joe Rogan having Bob Lazar on discussing area 51 and secret projects the subject matter has never had more of people's attention and I'm wondering if you know of others with strange unexplainable experiences in their career? @** after following the program for a while, I believe that the brass were concerned about the number of soldiers risked. Also, the V-280 and Defiant X are being developed to replace the Blackhawk, so I believe that the Army wants to keep the transport organization around 12 troops. The Chinook can transport larger vehicles and artillery, so I believe that the lifting capacity dissuaded the acquisition of Ospreys for the Army.

I agree with the caller, the carrier as we know it, is almost obsolete. With the advent of so many missiles and the up and coming era of drones, aircraft carriers have about a decade left.
