Ryan had been countered to the head and the body while throwing his best punch, it definitely was a hit to his confidence and a scary thing to know your best weapon leaves you open to getting stopped

I'm sure he'll review the fight plenty of times, but his weapon wasn't the issue, it was the lead up to the counters. He did the same movement+attack pattern 3 times in a row while rushing toward Davis before he took that shot to the face. Similar thing with the close/clinching range. He'd lean over Davis, and separate by back away with a right uppercut. Davis is a brilliant counter puncher; you simply can't do the same pattern over and over, you have to mix it up. The couple times Garcia did in the 6th and 7th, he was landing shots.

Ryan was hurt to the body, confused as well. His corner wasn't giving him the kind of direction that he needed. Like it or not he's not use to being in a tough fight. This was a tough fight for him and he saw an out and took it. Not exactly the same as quitting but more like a choice to preserve himself instead of losing more of himself. Being KO'd cold or hurt worse might've put his mind in a place where he couldn't recover. Unfortunately this now puts Ryan in a situation where all of the doubters appear to have been right about him. "Is he just a pretty body?" "He's not a REAL fighter"...he's gotta wrestle with those demons now.

He quit. I dunno why people are so bothered about using this word. It doesn't mean he's a quitter in general or has zero heart, but he could have risen and chose not to in a situation where some other fighters would have made the choice to go on. Ryan made the choice to stop and not go on, and decided he was done on this night. At the same time, most boxers would have also made the same choice as Ryan did. Not many are built extra tough, so it's not that Ryan has no heart, but he's not the toughest guy. These decisions about being worried about getting hurt worse or being KO'd cold have to be reckoned with by every fighter, but some fighters take on that risk and roll the dice and refuse to give in. Some fighters are just wired that way - call it stupid call it insane or call it courageous, but it ain't called Ryan for now.

Maidana vs Khan. Maidana gets hit with a similar shot, gets up, nearly turns it round by dishing punishment to Khan before gassing out in the final rounds and losing momentum. Ryan could have used all the tricks in the book- get up see how he's feeling, take a knee. Still not feeling good? Take another. Or hug Tank for dear life. There were so many options Ryan had and he took none of them and chose to throw in the towel. Maybe being put on his arse in the second influenced his choice to quit.

Ryan quit. Tank said it Best its about the dog in you. Tank has been through alot of tough times took alot of blows that would take most men out but that dog mentality that he possesses would not allow him to quit. Only men who posses this mentality can identify other men that posses the same mentality. That's the difference between a great fighter and mediocre to good fighter. It's about what he is willing to sacrifice. Ryan has a limit to how much he would sacrifice for greatness.Tank would sacrifice his life in the ring. Although he has been very successful he is still willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Ryan now has to figure out why he is a fighter. I doubt it but its possible Ryan bounces back and makes something out of his boxing career. RESPECT TO BOTH FIGHTERS.

A liver shot can make it impossible to stand up. Its not the pain that causes it, but the brain. The brain causes the legs to collapse so that blood flow is eased. The liver is a center of circulation and a good liver shot results in clinical shock at least temporarily.

It’s like 90% of the experience boxers. They were saying that Ryan had less experience then thank. so to me that is exactly what happened after he got knocked down. He was never the same anymore. I think with that punch he realize that he didn’t have the power to beat thank . that body shot That he took, was the end . that was the smart thing to do so he will not get hurt more. remember people !sometimes fighters get killed . so let’s not judge Ryan Garcia he’s a young fighter and he’s learning and in my opinion he’s gonna be great.

Ryan weighed his options as he got hit. 1. How can I get a blow/breather 2. Take a knee 3. Can I take another one of those OR can I take one of those to the head? 4. Is. It. Worth. It. At least that’s what I think his face said.

@badtrekee4348 I have taken fists, knees, and chins to the stomach/liver. I also looked at Garcia's face, arms, and gloves while he looked at the ref do the count. Garcia did not show the usual signs (placing arm/glove in area that hurts, making faces of inability to breathe or of pain. Ultimately, he got up without making a face (from pain) the millisecond he saw the ref say 10. He looked perfectly fine the moment he got up. Hope you understand reality after this breakdown.

I think you are spot on with your take on it and I agree and got no problem with the young kid making that decision, he has a future, why risk serious damage/injury when he can preserve himself for that future-much respect to both of them, the promoted an excellent fight with phenomenal PPV #'s, good night for boxing, but as they all say, there are levels to boxing and Tank for sure is on another level, he was laser focused , patient and showed great ring IQ-wish the best for both of them and what a complete disgrace Oscar, Goosen and Hopkins abandoning the kid in the post fight.

Think about it,.. after getting hit he delayed drop. Would he have delayed his drop to one knee if Gervontae wasn't coming for the kill? If Gervontae was in neutral corner would Ryan stayed up? Then he got right up on the 10 count. Yes indeed he was hurt, but he also quit. It seems like he was hit harder than Oscar's body shot from Hopkins, but Oscar dropped immediately. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Liver shots are often delayed, where you fell okay then the pain starts to radiate. You can look them up online. Those delayed ones are the worst. Garcia got hit clean while extended. Yeah that's really painful. Did he quit or not, I don't know. But was a clean shot that could KO a guy? Yes for sure.
