In the times of mindless crude comedy logic less films churning out crores at the box office, it is heartening to see you pick these so called ‘flop’ films and give them a second chance to be discussed and suggested to others who have still not watched them.... we do keep looking out for more such re-reviews... keep them coming 👍🏻👍🏻

I still get teary-eyed and my throat fills up every time I rewatch the last sequence of Mana Ki Hum Yaar Nahin, and I've done it hundreds of times. It is, without a doubt, a deeply personal film. The very idea of realization that you can not spend your life with the only person you ever loved, damn. Despite all their flaws and everything they did to you and you did to them, the love simply doesn't wish to die, and you realize there is a whole life in front of you to spend with that feeling. Really well-made movie. Love that it got into FC retake, this special one will touch a few very individuals who can really relate to it.

I feel Meri Pyari Bindu is one of the most underrated movie in the last few years. It was a real fresh idea, where all the movies say u should pursue the one u love with all your heart and you should not back down till you get her and all, but this movie just says that let that person go, Don't push, and you can still be happy. The dance in the last scene and the lyrics of "Maana k" sums up the movie beautifully. Happy that you revisited it. Already watched it about 2-3 times in the past. Will give it a watch again.

I still remember the first time I watched this amazing movie. I just could not understand why it did not fared well at the BO. It shows love in its most purest form. Even if the person you love does not loves you back as deeply as you do but respecting his or her decision of moving on is testament to the fact that your love for the other person is pure. In this fast paced era where even feelings are changeable as weather finally there is a movie where the hero is completely fine with his love not loving him back but is just happy with the fact that the person whom he loves is living a satisfied life. Maane ke hum yaa nahin is an emotion and Sonu Nigam Sir sung it so so well.

This movie is such amazeballs.parineeti is a good actress , but Siddharth was so natural to the role.the quirkiness of this movie was unique , where the heroine is a nerd. all the other casting was pitch perfect. Meri Pyaari Bindu is one film I go back to everytime I want my heart to fill itself a little more and my eyes just pour out. It is so hard to not fall head over heels for Ayushmann in this film. Agree with Rahul when he says that his performance was merely his reactions to a complex character in Bindu. I love the title of the film, the music, the transcending ache and just the little 'such is life' brand of storytelling. Great retake, this!

Hey Rahul. This has been one of my favourite movies so just wanted to point out something. They do kinda seed that Abhimanyu wants to be a writer. He writes her letters when she's in Australia. In one letter, Bindu says "Acha likhta tha. Writer ban jaata." Also during the song 'Afeemi', Bindu discovers what looks like his journal and gets it published in a Hindi woman magazine. So like there are subtle hints here and there. This isn't like a criticism on your remarks. Also really thankful to team FC for picking this movie. I've been recommending this to so many people over the years but everyone just dismisses it as another rom-com. Thanks a ton for this ♥️

The climax scene where Bindu meets Abhi, with my all-time favorite "Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi", it pours out all the emotions in both the characters. This song led me to the movie. Abhi's eyes speak volumes in the song - his life that still revolves around Bindu, his undying love for here, his assurance to her that it wasn't her fault and perhaps his decision that he should now finally move on or maybe that he will never stop loving her. Bindu, on the other hand, appears to be remorseful that she left him behind. She is apologetic. Now a matured woman with a young daughter she is finally able to groove into a dance with Abhi as he assures her that she shouldn't feel remorseful. Though the movie revolved around Bindu, it undoubtedly belonged to Abhimanyu and Ayushmann's portrayal of the same.

Such movies are best served at comfort of your home, with you having ample time to taste it and feel it. The atmosphere that such movies create is more transporting in nature and the feel largely remains the same throughout the screenplay. This kind of experience doesn't work in the setup of cinema halls. You name the movies, Tamasha, Lootera, all these movies are full of the strong feeling which a lot of people find boring to see in cinemas. It's not the fault of anyone, its just the placement of such movies in cinema halls with a packed audience is not right.
@Eatwithkaranvlogs4 жыл бұрын
I did watch the movie a few days back and the atmospheric in the movie was the core of the movie. Parineeti character looked like the extension of her character gayatri in shudh desi romance in a way she was confused in her personal choice. But ayush and everyone else were terrific. One sided love is so so more interesting
@prashantsingh90684 жыл бұрын
karan malhotra LOL. The film is told from the hero's point of view, a choice that the writer made. So when the guy is telling her STORY, her point of view and feelings are not known to the guy. So how is Parineeti suppose to act? LOL you are trying to come across as smart but you are dumb. The guy's character is absent from half of her life and hence we don't see her story as he doesn't know. Plus many things he knows (spent that part of life with her) didn't tell the viewers/did not chose to tell. So because of this choice you didn't get to see Parineeti's acting and the motivations of the character. Plus Bindu and Gaayatri are poles apart. Gayatri was just commitment phobic while Bindu had no commitment issue, she just didn't see him as life long partner.

I watched it in an empty multiplex on the very second day after its release. The promos were truly promising which drew me to the theatre. Theatre staff were giggling at me as I was all alone in the theatre. Thoroughly enjoyed the film being a Bong I could connect with Ayushmans character and his family. The second half gradually lost its steam but again took its pick up at the climax reveal . Probably the movie was too ahead of its time in 2017. Had it been released today or as an Amazon Original or Netflix original would have done wonders. Parineeti's character is the happy go lucky bubbly innocent next door girl which she carried off quite well. Some would suggest Alia but Alia Bhatt has played such bubbly characters in Two States / Humpty Sharma and others quite cliched..Parineeti was a fresh breath of air on screen after a long time. The songs are also fresh and placed appropriately to carry forward the story..Would love to watch again and again

@seemonjena659 Жыл бұрын
Alia Bhatt has her own strengths. Yes Parineeti was perfect for Bindu and I won't deny it because I really enjoyed her performance in this movie but I would disagree with the fact that Alia Bhatt is not talented enough. She has not played cliched characters- She has played the demure yet strong willed Sehmat in Raazi and fiesty and straight forward Kaira in Dear Zindagi. Even her performance in Gully Boy was amazing. Rather I feel Parineeti has mostly played the cliched character of a bubbly sweet matured girl in many movies. Just because you like an actress and want to highlight her qualities does not makes it okay to downgrade others.

Also it took me the second time to understand the movie was totally from Ayushman's perspective and hence the lack of dialogue between the characters. Loving this re take series. All the movies you have spoken till now are my favorites too. I feel like my choices are approved now as it has got your stamp. Something that I want to bring to attention...one of the biggest reason of meri pyaari bindu not working was the release of Baahubali 2. So Baahubuli 2 released on 28th April 2017, MPB released on 12th May 2017. And we all know the craze Baahubali 2 had, therefore in the noise & huge expectation of Bahubali 2, MPB wasn't given a chance. And honestly I remember it has less screens also for this reason. So I guess it just got thrown into the side and was left unnoticed. I truly hope after this, it gets the attention it deserves!

But wanted to say that as the film was based in 2005 her look was not a properly styled imagination of 2005 it really bothered me a lot. Dear FC, Abhinav Roy is not even a Bong,, and he is not from Calcutta at the first place, it was the writer suprotim sengupta who actually is a Bengali and it is his personal story that Akshay Roy gave direction to. However, I do love Rahul Desai interpretation of a film as always, like u keep on listening to him about how he compares the characters in the movie then going on to interpreting the movie with another similar movie and then also commenting on the back stories of the characters, I mean his interpretation really shows us how much he loves films!!! Great choice of the film!! One of the hidden gems of Bollywood love genre!!! Thanks for discussing it!!

Fc retake just becomes my favorite playlist on Film Companion. I wish you guys do two movies in a month rather than just one.

What an insightful discusssion. I'm one of those person who watches the same movie again and again rather than committing to a new film. Hence, I find these retakes even more interesting. Please also do a retake on Guzaarish, although it has not aged that well it is still a lovely happy spirited fillm. It's poetic, well crafted with excellent cinematography, music & performances. Thank you.

This is such an interesting series. Its almost like me and one of my best friends discussing and analysing movies after watching them. I am glad to know we are not alone being so fanatical about the movies. Can you guys at some-point also do “wake up sid”? I feel that its a very honest film and want to know what you guys think about it 🙂

What a lovely retake this was.. I am one of those who was eager for Bindu to release & watch it, & i loved it.. back then & now. Also, i remember watching Jagga in the theater with a group of 5-6 of my friends & being the only one at the end of it liking it, & thinking, is something wrong with me, or did these guys not see the sheer poetry & innocence in the film. p.s. - it is always so so lovely to sit & watch Rahul & Anupama ma'm discussing such lovely heart-warming & intelligent takes on movies (& Baddy sir as well) Looking forward to more from you guys.

I watched the film right before watching this and i had not seen Bindu before. I so agree with all the views put forward. One thing that i kind of reasoned for myself is that even i couldnt make peace with patineeti's fashion in the film at first but later realised she had been to Melbourne so she was ahead of the curve in that sense
