Hey guys! Love the channel! Super helpful advice! I just wanted to let you know that at 3:45 I paused to find the virtual assistant links in the description that you mentioned but they don't seem to be there. Thanks so much for all you do! Love the Tips, but personally, I wouldn't really consider selling old clothes and books you don't need/want a side hustle. These are usually things you can do only once in a certain period of time until you do the next purge of your closet/bookshelf

Also, if you're on a college campus, look into studies that the psych department or other departments run. At my school, there's a website where you can sign up for different ones that you're qualified for and usually it's like $10/$15 for half an hour to an hour of just answering questions or something really simple. I made $7 in 15 minutes once just for playing games with a robot, which I totally would've done for free, anyway.

It annoys me when I see things like “sell your stuff” listed as a side hustle. I’m looking for a side gig that is sustainable. I have lots of student debt and not a lot of savings. What do I do when I’ve sold all my stuff and reduced the amount I’m spending on incoming stuff? Sell my hair? It doesn’t grow that fast . . . Maybe I should invest in vitamin supplements.

I've come to realize that the key to amassing wealth lies in making sound investments. I purchased my first home at the age of 21 for $87,000 and sold it for $197,000. My second home, acquired for $170,000, was later sold for $320,000, and my third property, purchased at $300,000, fetched $589,000, with buyers covering all closing costs and expenses. Not reaching a million before retirement feels like an unfulfilled goal.

Good advise! P.S. There are TONS of fake Craigslist job postings about working remotely, like as a virtual assistant. They take your personal information, re-route your mail and steal your identity. But Craigslist can be great for getting in-person interviews, for other types of jobs though.

I consign crocheted purses and jewelry in a dozen different local shops. Such as convenience stores, general stores, gift shops, craft stores, clothing stores and regular consignment shops. Some shops take all of their products to craft shows as well. I'm disabled and fairly bedridden. I crochet in bed. My boyfriend delivers and picks up. Never have to deal with customers. One of my best side hustles couldn't be done from bed but it was even better; I got paid to do my hobby. I love dancing but 3 classes a week at $16 each as well as shoes, comps and workshops became a big expense. So, I trained as a teacher. Not only did I get paid whenever I taught a class but got other classes for free and discounts on events such as dance socials and competitions.

If it has multiple screens you have to click through and ads pop up. If the amount of time you devote is very minimal compared to the pay (like $100 for 5 minutes or something), if they ask you to download something research it before, do not...do not give anyone login access to your email, facebook, or any website with personal details like that. Also plugins are iffy. DO NOT PAY TO DO A SURVEY. EVER. Do not pay to make money online. Idc what you say. Do not. I spent $25 which isn't a huge amount, but it's still not okat. Do. not.

all of these "hustles" are either too small to make any significant amount of money, or too vague to ever be worth the time you put in trying to pursue them. NOTE: to make money reviewing apps or taking surveys seems easy, right? Well they are looking for very specific demographics so there is a slim chance you will qualify to get paid.

They always want middle class moms or young men with a lot of disposal income You know the exact people who don't need to be side hustling. I tried a lot of these things when I was younger but for most things if you are below a certain income level which is probably why you want to try hustling you are excluded bc you're not the demographic they care about.

I guess my issue with most of these side hustles is I could make more money by working OT at my day job. Why spend hours learning how to do some random side job that pays little to nothing when I can get my working wage+1/2 for working an extra hour of OT. If people have OT as an option, it almost always seems like a better option.
@CorinnaAtHome
@CorinnaAtHome 7 жыл бұрын
hnskinner most places don't offer OT nowadays though. it's pretty frigging awesome you have that option. but most of us, students,etc, don't have that as an option and that's why a video like this is helpful for the majority.

hnskinner jobs where you are waiting for someone else to sign your paycheck is NOT a guarantee. A small side hustle allows for extra skill and income just in case of a rainy day. Employers are always looking to increase their bottom line and they take no issue letting you go to do this. Please don't get complacent working for others. 30 yrs+ ago you could work a job long enough to retire, but today that's not the case in most industries. I have sadly watched people that worked for companies for 20+ years and have been fired and I do not work in an outdated industry. Take note to what has happened at ESPN.

A lot of their viewers are freelancers. Personally I have freelance income from steady clients, income from a "day job" that is 15 hrs per week (no hope of OT) and I am trying to find another $500/month to make ends meet when both my regular clients cut back for the summer. If you have OT as an option then thank your lucky stars and make that money, man.

Please don't recommend anyone to just become a Social Media Manger. Being great at your own Facebook is nothing like knowing how to use Power Editor. Loving Twitter doesn't mean you can make an effective Twitter card. What this does is make small businesses doubt the power of social media marketing because they hire people who don't actually know how to market on social media. This is terrible advice for both the freelancer and small businesses.

I have watched several of these videos by now. My question is always the same: how do these "side hustles" work tax-wise? I have registered to translation/writing websites and at least in my country in order to do many of these you actually have to, tax-wise, open activity as "freelancer" , and the taxes you pay make it really not worth it unless you do it as a full-time job. Plus if you happen to have a job already can you even register your activity as a freelancer? How can you get profit from these side hustles after taxes? Is this a "U.S. only" thing?

Businesses are steering away from hiring random young people to be social media managers because they dont understand analytics or ROI. Personal use and business use are totally different skills and it's a waste of money to pay some rando who doesn't know what theyre doing when you as a business owner could have done the same thing for free. Im a social media manager (as part of being a marketing manager) and it's ridiculous how many other people SM managers Ive met who have no clue what PPC is or analytics or AB testing or even ROI is.

ChelsRen I think it works for the really clueless, no offense. Some who are already somewhat good and aware about social media usage would see the value in investing in a professional social media menager, if their business is at that stage. But some are so bad that a teen, especialy if they're intelligent and hardworking, could boost up their SMM a whole lot. Kinda like amateur photographers. The difference between amateur and proffesional is really big, but sometimes, if you don't need top notch results anyway, a good amateur could do a satisfying job too.

ChelsRen I can totally understand your sentiment and agree. But I would ask what you would cost a month to run a site? A small local restaurant who just wants to get some presence on Facebook and Instagram and get regular postings would gladly pay like $250 a month for that to just be taken care of. Where in my experience, truly qualified SMMs are not cheap. But I also live here in Orlando FL where EVERYONE at UCF is trying to manager social media for a living

When folks talk about "side hustles" I'm always left wondering "how much money is enough?" I put in 40 hrs a week at a salaried job (clinical mental health counselor), which I invested in specific educational degrees to qualify for. I enjoy my work, but it is also pretty damn draining. As long as I can pay all my bills and set a bit aside for emergencies, the price of my own mental health is way above anything these side hustles could pay. obviously, not everyone is in this position, but I wish they'd acknowledge the additional "costs" of side work.

thredUp is not such a great site anymore. They now charge you about $5 for a bag to be mailed to you to fill, and when you send the items you want money for, they greatly underpay vs what they make off of the item. They even tell you when they sold one of your items, and how much they made, which is a lot more than what they paid you. Felt like a slap in the face.

A solid side hustle for me is I have three part time easy jobs. I make extra 1400 dollars a month by working extra on the weekends moonlighting as a Security guard working in a warehouse house off hours all I do is hourly rounds and guard the facility I am the only one in the facility. I bring my iPad and watch movies in between. I work for two different security companies on the weekends. My third part time I teach three hour drug education class on Saturday morning and make extra 450 dollars per month. For me its simply to have solid stress free part time job so you know what your income will be. I am on a four year debt free journey to payoff my mortgage in four years. The key is to find solid stress free part time job with consist income jobs that's a no brainer.

This all depends upon your tax bracket. If you earn more, you're taxed more, which defeats the purpose. If you don't want to work more, learn to go without and spend more time taking good care of the things you have so that you don't have to repurchase. Try a studio apartment close to work. For example, my minimal wardrobe, kitchenware and furniture are more than 25 years old. Everything I have is still like new, because I took the time to take good care of everything I own. I worked part-time throughout my entire career. Saved lots of money. Comfortably retired. Up until now, I just didn't realize that minimalism was a special way to live life. I really enjoyed my time off. Freedom is everything.

This is video (and there are many like this) is the modern day equivalent of those infomercials you used to see in the 90's "were by placing one tiny ad in a newspaper" can really sell a lot of books and How To CD's for the guy who made the commercial. Only with this it's the views and ad clicks to give the poster a residual income. Make You Tube Videos like this as a Hustle you can do from bed.

So I know it's not from bed and i am not exactly sure of what extent of training one has to go though to qualify.. but life modeling does pay well. It does mean you have to be naked but I've talked to some models that say anywhere from $50 - $150 AUD is the going rate for an hour. Also all bodies are welcome 😊

How do you handle side hustle money you earn come tax time?
@bonniea8189
@bonniea8189 6 жыл бұрын
GREAT question. A friend of mine did a lot of freelance writing and her mom was a CPA. She said she was seen as an independent contractor as far as the IRS was concerned and had to pay almost 50% of her income in taxes. Granted, we were in a high tax state, so YMMV. People should def investigate that when they first get started with their side hustle, so they aren't taken by surprise at tax time.
@wanderlustandsparkle4395
@wanderlustandsparkle4395 5 жыл бұрын
Some people don't pay tax (which of course is agasint the tax law) and each time you get income from a side hustle you need to put a percentage away for taxes. The IRS website is a great tool to see how much tax you would have to pay on any income you recieve.

Dont forget about being an Escort or Adult Film Actor! Lots of hustle there.. But seriously, i couldn't even get through your first "option". Did you two take a class on how to spin things? Removing Items from your house to sell at a drastic discount only depletes what little assets this person may or may not have. So basically, your first "side hustle" is steal from yourself? So you go to a store and buy a pair of pants, retail 30-60 USD, and you get 5 dollars for them on Ebay or Craigslist. Net loss 25-55 USD. GREAT JOB, now your Hustling.. Jay -Z would be very proud.

usertesting is great in theory but I've found from my experience that it's not really worth it. maybe it's my accent, or maybe I don't give the right feedback or maybe I'm just not eligible for many tests but the maximum I managed to make over three months was six dollars (not pounds) a week while dedicating eight hours a day to waiting for tests. that time would be better used getting a paid part time job. also I think that if you work full-time at a living wage then you should be able to live on it, whereas many students I know can't so they have jobs on the side. it's depressing.
@beddythecorgi4269

I did it too. 1 the jobs I qualified for filled up instantly 2 they are always looking for a specific demographic which if you do not meet you will not qualify. I dont think I ever made more than $60 at website reviews over the course of several months. I would have made that easy just asking to walk my neighbors dog for the time they were on vacation. Pet sitting and walking in your own neighborhood is not bad side hustle money compared to the amount if effort it would take to sell your used clothes online.
