This could have turned out very ugly. Luckily Romören was a very experienced skijumper and made as soft a landing as was possible, which is why he escaped from it almost without any injuries.

I saw it live on the television that day.. I thought my heart was gonna fail.. O.o I was really scared! My favorite ski jumper. And well, I'm also a norwegian just like him :P

If you want to see the nastiest ski jump crash check out Daito Takahashi in Sapporo, or the Planica crashes by Robert Kranjec or Tomasz Pochwala. If you look at that you wonder how it is possible to survive such crash. Miracleously, the sport had NO casualties since mid 20th century. Alpine skiing brings much more injuries than ski jumping.

Polish guys did not stop because just after this terrible accident Romoeren rose up his feet - nothing bad happened to him. They were under the impression of his skills which saved his life.

Good thing about this sport is that it is not at all as dangerous as it looks. If you know the wind and you have a good balance, you'll manage just fine, but on the rare occasion that an accident happens, the slope is both soft and crooked enough that you'll sort of just slide right in.

I think it was bad luck that his ski fell, but he was lucky to stand up so fast after the impact.

I don't think it would have worked actually, his position in the air was to land on 2 skies, and it's hard 2 turn so that you get atleast any balance to land on one skie.

mazochs crash wasn´t really like this one. i think romören knew that theres something wrong. for mazoch it was surprising that this happened. also the jump in val die fiemme isn´t that high...
