That was so cool , I am dreaming to catch big tuna as big as that. The one you caught was a big cash back home.

Hi Matt,we are catching black marlin off a small boat but struggling to keep bait alive.We have a big swell so speed between 2 and 6 knots when trolling which kills the fish.Should we just drift with a balloon or float setup? Any suggestions on how we should rig it? Using 2-4kg skipjacks as bait,tx Chris(South Africa)

How can the tuna survive with the hook in the mouth?
@Ayye95
@Ayye95 Жыл бұрын
circle hooks 99% of the time go straight into the corner of the mouth, like a lip piercing. tuna easily survive this. In the 90s one aussie sports fish club reported almost every fish they caught one season had long lining rigs in their mouth or broken jaws from pulling the hooks out.

@@Ayye95 The accepted mortality rates for recreational tuna fishing is around 5%, although this is is probably slightly higher due to some fish dying after release. This is likely down to over heating during overly prolonged fights, the unique biology of tuna working against it
