First off i want to thank you for all of the videos you do !!! I started researching griddles and came across your channel and I'm glad i did. You helped make our family's decision on which griddle to purchase "hard" (lol) because there were so many !!! Seriously though, the information and details you provide us as viewers is awesome. I went back and forth on which one to purchase 3 burner, 4 burner, trap in the rear, trap in the front on and on....... So after 3 weeks of geeking out on Griddles we ended up going with the Traeger Flatrock. This Bad Boy is "AWESOME" ! Well built and easy to put together. Just like you showed in your video this griddles burners stay pretty even. No big highs or lows. We have had this going on a couple of weeks now an have used all but a couple of days. My wife is happy she doesn't have to cook as much and the family is digging the food. Thanks again for all your help in helping us get the "Perfect Griddle"

Awesome overview! I’ve been doing a lot of research on stand alone griddles for awhile and finally jumped in and picked up the Flatrock yesterday. Had a successful cook with ribeyes, onions, mushrooms, and asparagus. Best crust I’ve ever put on a steak! The way this is built and how it performs so far, definitely worth it in my opinion. The build quality and warranty itself put my at ease for the extra $ in my decision making. Also wanted to mention, I received a nice discount from my local Ace with the veterans discount ☺️

Spot on. The recessed griddle serves to both keep in the heat for even cooking, but also for fuel efficiency purposes. Massive savings over the life of the griddle (likely in excess of what it costs).

I got the new high-end Traeger smoker last year. It shares much with this griddle - the new rail system, same grease bucket, built like an absolute unit… and the price tag was through the roof. I have to say, though, it has been a joy to cook with. Somebody in product marketing over there obviously decided there are already plenty of budget options, and maybe they could carve out a new name for themselves with a line of no-corners-cut products. Time will tell if consumers want that, but it’s nice to see that not everything has to be built down to a price. I am very lucky that this griddle is propane only. My patio is all set up for natural gas. So this is a temptation I don’t have to worry about. Keep up the good work! Your channel is the one I keep coming back to for griddle ideas and knowledge.

Over all of the griddles I've seen you review, this one appears to be the most well thought out one. It looks like they've looked at their competition and took the positives of each one to make a perfect griddle. I imagine I'll have my Camp Chef FTG for quite some time and I love it, but to have a hinged lid and that wide mouth drip opening and huge drip reservoir are huge steps up from the camp chef. Great review and I love how you are unbiased whether you purchase or receive from the companies. As always, thank you for great reviews and I'm looking forward to seeing some first cook videos.

I love my Traeger smoker - this griddle looks great. Love the fold down shelves and the tank stores underneath the unit. PS: buy a cover for it - I did for my smoker and it is worth every penny. I was given a 22" BS - nice gift but it is too small, even for just the two of us. Not impressed at all. This griddle is pricey but it is better to invest in a good, large, sturdy griddle than to have to replace every couple of years. With a cover and a little care this will last a long time.

OK buddy, I have since looked at Countless videos on all kinds of Griddles and videos including your videos with the wife of course 🤗 I decided to pick one up "Traeger FlatRock Griddle. I know previously I was upset at the Price mark up and Warranty Flaws, compared to other products and seeing so many KZbinrs sell their soul to some companies. I am glad you were honest and did not. So These are the Reasons I end up getting the Trager compared to what others offered. When getting Value for your money counts I figured this one Justified it. The sweet spot for this one would of been $799 but Traeger has gone public and they have investors to respond to for profit and I get that. 1. Propane monitoring sensor system. 2. U shaped Solid Stainless Steel burners for more flame coverage and even cooking. 3. Powder Coated paint? and Or High Temperature paint? 4. More Solid body than All other Griddle Brands With little to no wobble. 5. Four Locking Caster Wheels. 6. Strong nice solid lid that serves as Grease Backsplash. "You can close to melt Cheese" Not to cook with long periods. 7. Large Grease Bucket, Probably larger than all Griddles? 8. LED Flame indicators for each dial. 9. Solid True Zone Chambers that separate each burner from another for better control cooking? 10. Also another solid sheet metal under U burners for better support and breathing. 11. At 189 LBS has to say this is a Solid Griddle and should last years to come. 12. 5 Year Warranty "Limited" Not sure if all parts are 5 years but the outer body is. 13. Fold down Shelves 14. Biggest Shelves in the griddle market? 15. Flame Lock Construction, Recessed Griddle prevents wind from lowering heat temps or blowing them out all together on a windy day. Most Griddles lack this Feature. 16. Pop and Lock Tool Accessories System. You can always add a magnet System later? I'll be honest with you, the fact that my Capital one Card offered me $269.99 in Cash Rewards or use however I like rewards if i made the purchase, that also was deciding factor that made me pull the Trigger as well as Analysis of all other griddles and your Videos. So all in all, I end up getting this Grill for $630.00. I can use the $269.99 to purchase The Traeger Accessories as well. So that's awesome. I believe it was an "Exclusive Customer" offer from Capital One not from Traeger. Traeger owes you a sales commission from my purchase. Thanks to you and the wife for sharing and helping me make my Decision. 🤗

Hey thats a really legit comment right there...Thats why I always say its not my money because value is in the eyes of the beholder... I would caution this and maybe you have more info than me.. .6. Neil... At the rate you are trying out new griddles i.e. Weber and now the Trager Flatrock. I think a back deck expansion may be in your future. Trager sent one of these to Sam The Cooking Guy out in San Diego. He did a video yesterday with his, and Trager must have sent him two so he could give one away. I don't think Sam did as good a job seasoning his as you did. Your seasoning looks really great. Can't wait to see your first cook(s) on the Trager. I kinda like their basting dome with the little rubber "Blow Hole", but then I already have the round and the double length Blackstone domes so I'll pass on getting the Trager dome. I think the Flatrock's size was designed to compete with the Blacksone 36" models, because with the Blackstones they jump from the 28" to the 36" models with nothing in between. i have a Blackstone 28" Range Top Combo griddle with the two side burners and the deep fryer feature. It is big enough for my son and I. I also have the 17" E-series for when the Colorado weather doesn't cooperate or it is too windy.

I think Traeger got very complacent on the pellet grill side when they had the patent to the technology. When it expired, they didn’t respond well and you could either get similar quality for half their price or something considerable better at the same cost. Fast forward a few years and that competition has caused them to step things up a lot. Little surprising to see them produce a gas product but not surprised that they’ve come out with one that’s high quality.

It's ironic watching this. I knew before you mentioned it that it was probably a promotional item sent to you by them. I also knew you would give an honest opinion on it before you even said it. I just happened to be watching QVC this week end and they had my Blackstone Griddle on sale and were demoing it. The first thing I thought was "Ya'll should have got Neal to do this. I love my Blackstone but it was free for me to try, review, and keep also as I am a Spark Reviewer. This particular grill you have does look to be well built. Has some really good features too. But that cover could be an issue for some like me. Not sure how Traeger missed that, but I am sure they can address it in future models or even do a modification on the present. As far as the price, well that cover could be the issue for me. It's just at that price point my expectations are raised. I do not mind paying for quality, but when you are talking rating any item I tend to break it down into several categories and an item costing more I tend to grade harder because my expectations are raised. I am looking forward to videos and your opinion as far as grilling goes. (That could sway opinions one way or the other.) It will make for some very interesting viewing ratings and opinions, especially with the side by side comparisons. I did love how Traeger is confident in their product and stands by their product. With all this being said I do have one very important piece of advice that you can use in the future. Never Ever call your wife "An Old Lady"

Hey Neal, I certainly agree it’s a beast BUT….did you mention the “electric” “plug-in” part? I realize that you don’t have to start it with electricity but us outdoor cooks should know about the electric start or the wire wick start. (Without the plug in.) BTW, that electric part makes this griddle a non starter with me. I love the build. And it’s a propane gas utensil. But the plug in gives you the easy start and, I think, the tank measurement. Thanks again.

I think I either miss spoke or we are on the opposite page hear..in my video I post on Wednesday with big breakfast we go over it in detail . The power only controls the propane sensor and lights to show the griddle is on. They batter powers the ignition only which my blackstone and pit boss have. The unit does not need electrical power to operate...sorry for the confusion

Watched the big breakfast on the new Weber….zoweee….that Hawaiian roll breakfast is da bomb! And a great idea - even for people that don’t have a griddle. Fairly sure the combo would work on their stove except it’d be a lot of pans & a ton of cleanup. FYI - haven’t found the Big Breakfast on the Traeger yet. Should be appearing soon. Thanks !

I only keep the pits/griddles I review if they are built solid. The Flatrock is certainly solid but easy to move around! Got to admit, never saw a box printed like that. Great idea as Amy says, marketing was listened too. What is the price point this thing lives in? Where is it made? As a single guy, I bought a smaller Blackstone to get started, also so i can take it in the RV. Thanks to your teaching, I'm really ready (and saving up) for a 3+ burner for home. I need the zones! Budget is not always the biggest issue for me, so after seeing the features, I'd say I love those shelves, construction, the propane mngt, and the grease mngt. Curious, does the griddle surface top rest directly on those zone dividers for support? Please, get those cheesesteaks started, I'm a griddle peasant now, but am aiming for griddle prince level and gotta see how that Traeger cooks!

That is a great unit. Well thought out, for the most part. The lid could still be heavily reinforced, but with enough room left to use for steaming, etc. I love the 4 locking/swiveling casters, but shorten the legs and put 4" wheels, instead. I was worried about the spacing for the burners, but their design is great. I love the dividers and the fact you can remove them, if desired. Having said that, I wouldn't pay $800 for any home type griddle on the market.

Tragers marketing department is killing it with that box, but their engineering department must be relying on the trager name. How much food are you going to push down that grease trap, and do you want to scrape hot grease towards you? For that price there needs to be a cabinet and shelves. Totally confused on how all those free accessories get mounted up? Hopefully you cover that in the next video. Are there magnets or hooks for utensils? Also really interested if the compartmental zones work. And those burners look huge. Will you be able to get consistent low temps (300) out of them on a low setting?
@TheFlatTopKing Жыл бұрын
Well lets break down that comment... So far NO/ZERO griddle I have used has been low 300s on low...The Weber is the closest Moving grease towards you is very common. Maybe not to residential units but in the commercial world its all we have. A lot og griddles have grease in the front. Camp Chef and many others. So I like that BUT i do no like the location. Absolutely correct on the food landing in the whole...way to much. Along with the handles on the sides...food is finding its way through those way to much It does have a rail system that allows for extra storage and utensils things..all sold separately... Lastly I would rather have the propane tank under the unit like it is ....for true drop side shelves...But it does sacrifice a bottom shelf...but then the side shelves are absolutely massive... The first two cooks have already been produced and one posted today... it mentions alot of what you are asking about
@wildernessman760 Жыл бұрын
what they should have done was made one of the side tables with a sauce pan burner that you can just take a cover off of to use it. some sauces go on better if their hot.

The main flaw I see so far is the holes in the sides of the griddle top. As little as you take the griddle top off, I don't think they should have added those "handles". I use the sides all the time for 'scooping' things like onions and peppers with my spatula and I can see them falling right through those holes. Otherwise, it looks like a beast.
