Lol. My ankle on my lead foot (I ride goofy) is so often trashed from eating it on all manner of boards (OW included), that I think it'll forever be in a state of perpetual healing. I guess I should expect that doing what we do at my age (42).

So stoked yall are messing around with it now haha, there's definitely a learning curve and nuance to using it in different situations (definitely gotta let off the nose tilt before reaching coping so you don't transition into a tail drag 👌) but it's gonna open so many doors to a whole new style of riding going forward. Gonna be a wild year! Oh and btw, that asymmetric tilt was cuz you bumped the remote's mode button. Most remotes have this built in, where it limits forward throttle (nose down), but not braking / backwards throttle (nose up). So you can take advantage of this to adjust the nose down intensity on the fly as well, which I find super useful since it definitely makes sense to have a more mellow nose down in a lot of situations 🤙
@travisharvey44392 жыл бұрын
That's rad that asymmetrical tilt was just a happy accident of an already established function. I can't wait to build one! You rock, Nico!

Yup, it opens up an entirely new way to ride once you have the technique dialed, and it's not like it's mandatory to be used at all times like an eskate. We've even got one guy that's got his on a retractable lanyard line connected to his backpack, so he can grab it when needed and just let go to let it zip back to his backpack when not haha.

Agreed. FM and the Onewheel will remain the entry board for the sport but anyone who takes it seriously or has the technical know-how will switch to VESC due to all the advantages. It'll be a weird scenario where most people will have FM boards and they'll still sell way more yet all the pros and people of significance in the community will be rocking VESCs

Love your videos floatlife. You guys are really pushing the sport! Love it! I wonder if you could take the remote out of the equation and have like a sensor built into the half pipe so you roll over it and it activates the tilt as if you pushed the button on the remote. Have multiple sensors positioned at different stages of the pipe for on/off etc... Keep up the innovation! Float on from Australia!

Future enhanced mod to consider: bumper-mounted front and rear topographic sensors that that sense upcoming terrain slope and automatically adjust tilt angle parameters to the exact settings needed to send the VESV the necessary amperage to power up, possibly by modding ATR behaviour in real time, no remote needed. You’re still probably want some way of letting it know what “mode” you want, to give you the option to do a tail or nose drag if you want to instead of powering up the slope, but that would require much less fine control on the remote. Or maybe no remote at all.
