Actor Debi Mazar (Goodfellas, Entourage, Younger) and her husband Gabriele Corcos (food entrepreneur and TV host, Extra Virgin) speak to The Florentine about returning to Florence after living in the US for 20 years. It was nice to watch this and hear their experiences and perspectives. I just moved to Florence from America as well, two weeks ago. Even though I am 52, I am here on a one year Student Visa, learning Italian at a local language school. Everything has been wonderful so far and I am looking forward learning all that I can about Florence and Italy as a whole. Grazie mille, Paul Freitag

@@katievioletthedivadog8662 Ciao! I have a Studebt Visa for one year. I live near Milwaukee so my consulate was the one in Chicago. I had to go on their website and follow all the steps and check off all the things that they require for a Student Visa and mailed it all in. I got my Visa and passport returned to me 3 weeks later. As long as you closely follow their requirements it actually went pretty smoothly.

I would want to move there for at least a few years if not longer and have to figure out how to support myself financially once I got there. Thank you so much for responding! Buona Sera!

@@katievioletthedivadog8662 You can do it! We live half the year in Italy, half in the US, have a house there, my husband got his Italian citizenship, I'm working on mine now. Check with your nearest consulate in the US, they will have all the requirements and regulations. And I suggest a region away from Firenze or Roma so you are forced to speak Italian. Outside the tourist areas, English is not spoken that much and you'll really get what living in Italy is about. Check out places like Bologna, Abruzzo, Le Marche, Puglia, Campania, Lazio, it's much more affordable, and there are excellent language schools. You can even trade English lessons for Italian and make new friends that way.

@@katievioletthedivadog8662 Yes, I am still in Florence and I love it here. I have some benefits from military service and disability benefits and savings that have supported my being here. You have to show a certain amount of money saved as part of the requirements for a Student Visa. The job market here is quite tough I have heard. Many expats choose to teach English as a second language here. Ciao, Paul

Dream. We vacationed in Italy when I was a kid and I will go back to live a few years someday. It is very beautiful there because the nature has such a hold there…it is so wonderful. I love this. She is fantastic. What a lovely couple.
