Wonderful video resource Georgie, more willow tales please! I have been consulting it as I prep my year 1 grove of daphnoides, golden and viminalis for harvest and planning out more varieties to plant. It was great to meet and chat to you briefly over dinner at the FFTF conference this last week, I thought you made an absolutely Grade A stellar compere and motivator extraordinaire, so inspiring. Thank You x

Hi Georgie how many willow whips do you get in your bundles? I do not have a damp area as I live on a slope at the bottom of a hill. I will have to try and recreate one, much as I did for my bog garden which I lined it with pond liner.

I need a willow wood! Your wreaths are beautiful. But I’m frightened! A weeping willow in the garden of my parents’ house, planted by my father (who should have known better), grew to an enormous size and did a lot of damage to the foundations of the house and the drains. How close would it be “safe” to plant willow to a building? I have a damp area in my back garden I would like to use for willow.

Don’t put too close to house or drains and if patch damp they’ll do well - to be fair I wouldn’t tecomend planting any tree too close to house or drains - we pollard ours to keep them under control and they love it x

@@theflowerfarmer thank you! I think they will be fine as I will keep cutting them, like the Eucalyptus gunnii I planted in my front garden. At the time I didn’t know that they can grow to 3m or more. They don’t stand a chance of that with me keep snipping at them! My children have strict instructions that when I pop off the eucalyptus are to be cut down or rooted out. I’ll just add the willow to that.

There are other types that don’t get so large. Weeping is only one kind.

I have been watch your videos for a few months now and absolutely love them but just came across this one. I live in the US in the New England area and want to establish willows for wreath making. How many years old are your trees? I'm hoping to get a few curly willows going too to have for cut flower arranging too.
