Megan Wyreweden generally used images that can be accepted as general book illustrations in her Anima Mundi Tarot. I have wanted to sell of my own tarot and other didactic paintings, but people offer me less than minimum wage or make clear that they were going to worship it or something else I didn't feel right about it. The trumps are more like Lenormand cards without playing cards on them. I would have used more of a variety of wood in the Fire-Clubs-Wands suit. I would have used a look of vessels that does not imply future rust in the Water-Hearts-Cups suit. I would have used metal ore or other stones as the Air-Spades-Swords suit. I would not have used so artificial of a form for the Earth-Diamonds-Pentacles suit. 0 The Fool is a trickster. 1 The Magician changes with tools. 2 The High Priestess is the message of provision. 3 The Empress is a moment. 4 The Emperor decorates. 5 The Hierophant presents a choice. 6 The Lovers bicker. 7 The Chariot attacks. 8 Strength moves the delicate. 9 The Hermit is secret combinations. 10 Wheel of Fortune survives after interference with life. 11 Justice scoffs at your bribes. 12 The Hanged Man controls the trap. 13 Death leaves evidence. 14 Temperance is delicate. 15 The Devil is being controlled by artificial naturalism. 16 The Tower may be coming sooner than we think! 17 The Star is independent. 18 The Moon is obscuring. 19 The Sun is running away from the vision. 20 Judgement should descend from beyond the known situation. 21 The World exists without us. Wow, this deck is absolutely gorgeous! It's timeless, too. The Wild Unknown feels lifeless for me right now, and I feel like this one would be the perfect deck to take its place. I mean, the COLORS... the ATMOSPHERE... !!!

I love this deck. Got it for christmas this year after seeing it on one of your favourite deck videos! My edition has the 10 of swords without blood which I think is a really good choice, even though there's something really evocative about the first version. I would love to hear what your ideal scenic swords suit looks like, if you could choose.

Another interesting hybrid. Card backs are wonderful. Justice card is a curious blend of Strength & Justice with its majestic lion seated beside the sword. Some of the ‘sub-continent’ animals felt a little jarring but on the whole this deck flows well and I’ll likely pick one up. Thanks for sharing, Tom.

Hahah! If it makes you feel better, I backed it on Kickstarter before all the cards were done. I agree about the swords -- but by that standard, I'd never use half my decks. The rest of the deck is so breathtaking, though, that I forgive it... it just sings in such a beautiful voice. But, dammit, the swords! THE WORDS!

I know, and truthfully it's no worse than the Wild Unknown and I use that all the time, I will be getting it if it comes back in print. I just wish artist gave us "choice" cards--here you go, here is a different 3 of Swords and 10 of Swords, put in which works :D It's funny to me thought, that even decks that do different things tend to stick so much on those exact cards LOL

The thing that turned me off from getting this is the pentagram on the the devil card. I absolutely love the choice to have the only human in the deck be the devil, it fits but the pentagram is just lazy misconception. People see it as the devils sign but... it’s not. Look it up. It’s not a demonic symbol. Satanism isn’t even bad itself. It just felt lazy

To me, the pentacle points towards the materialistic aspect of the Devil card, like addiction or overindulging. After all, the artist made the pentacles suit, so it seems like they'd be familiar with the pentacle as a symbol of materials.

It may also be a nod to the original RWS art, especially as it is a downward-pointing pentacle :)

I've just watched this again. Some observations... That five of cups breaks my heart. I want to rub the tummy of the otter in the page of cups. I like gruesome sword suits Trash panda is the cutest Best pents suit ever (and I'm not usually a fan of the pentacles) Love the pippish-ness of the minors. Why don't I have this already?

Why are all these people exclaiming what a beauty thus is!? Come ON. 😂🤣🙄 I think 90% just say stuff to say it and fit in I swear. The art is basic and requires basic talent IF it’s Hand drawn…if not….then lazy CGI….it looks literally a decade or more late to the self published deck….it’s just so…..2003 CGI tarot 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣 Anna Franklins oracle….as an example….. Now I get we all different tastes…..but the remarks of ASTOUNDING beauty or perfection,…just so insane over the top…..look those cups! Cringe. Yikes. Or the pentacles? Ok. I won’t go on and on, but….I don’t know…..just amazing what sells to me. And besides that there’s 1,000x better decks that are almost all animals out there…..this is just….like what.
