As a Dutchmen who loves football I can only say that I feel very honered to see Johan Cruijff be the number one on this list and most important to see it confirmed in the comments. You have players like Pelé, Maradonna, Messi, Backenbauer, George Best, Di Stefano, Ronaldo(bra) and others. Maybe if you talk about pure technic or dribbling skills, Maradona, Pele come out on top. But yes if you talk about the total package I think Cruijff has what it takes to be number one. I just hope we can produce another great generation, but on the moment it seems that the Netherlands are going to have hard times for years to come. Maybe not even to return in the top 10 or 5 of the world. I makes me feel sad to look back in the past and knowing that we had players like Cruijff, Sjaak Zwart, Van Hanegem, Neeskens, Van Basten, Gullit, Bergkamp, Van Persie, Van Nistelrooij, Van der Sar, Jaap Stam, Robben and others. After every generation I thought that the next generation would not be as good. Always I was wrong. But this time I thing it's going to be reality

Pele has to be in the top 3 definitely because he revived the ginga style of football (fancy skills and all that shit) when it was very highly frowned upon to use in Brazil as it was blamed for the 1950 world cup final loss. For the next 8 years everyone in Brazil played normally and staightforward and without any skills and all that shit. As a 17 year old, during the 1958 world cup, Pele tried to convince the entire Brazil squad play with the ginga style of football. Because of what they saw Pele do with the ginga style in other matches, Brazil adopted this style of play which helped a then very mediocre Brazil side defeat all odds by beating tournament favourites Sweden 5-2 in the world cup final. This style is rthe foundation of the modern game and without Pele and the ginga style of football, we wouldn't have the likes of Ronaldinho, Zidane, both Ronaldo's, Neymar and countless more. Also, the growing game of futsal derived from the ginga style of football. So, after all that, why the fuck is Pele not in this list, never mind the top 3?

Good list but you forgot all about Béla Guttmann. Together with Sebes they revolutionized the game with the 4-2-4 in the 50's. He was the man that brought Eusébio to Benfica and went on to glory with them, and the infamous Curse of Guttmann of course. From Bucharest to the America's he did new and fresh things and spread Futbol across the world.

Imo Jose Mourinho should either be in the top 10 or at the very least an honorable mention. He literally changed the dynamic of the game in Europe at the start of 21st Century and for years some of the best Managers in Europe and the World at the time couldn't figure him out. After a fall out at Benfica with their Owner back then he took over a small club now in the Porteguese second division called UD Leiria who he steered to a 5th spot finish in the first division at the time which is their highest ever finish in the first division. He then took over FC Porto and instantly went on to win the UEFA Cup against a good Celtic team back then. A year later he shocked Europe by knocking out Sir Alex Ferguson's mighty Manchester United at Old Trafford and went all the way to the Champions League Final to face Didier Deschamps very good AS Monaco team back then and win against them in the most one sided Champions League Final since Fabio Cabello's AC Milan thrashed Johan Cryff's Barcelona dream team 4-0 in the early 90's. He then came to England and despite Arsenal going unbeaten the season before won the Premier League with ease. He then took over Inter Milan after a fall out with Roman Abramovich and took them to a treble denying Pep Guardiola's mighty a place in the Final in the Semi Finals after the two legs and as a result Inter Milan is still the only Italian team to have achieved the treble. Not even the current mighty Juventus have achieved that even after 5 seasons of dominating Italian Football. Post Inter Milan is truly where Mourinho started to lose his mojo as a Manager after 3 years of failure at Real Madrid but what he did from 2000 to 2010 was truly amazing and very muched changed Europe. If you watch one of Mourinho's documentaries, former Chelsea and West Brom Assistant/Manager Steve Clark says that Mourinho even constructed his own bible over the Summer for the 21st century game just before 21st century began.
