I can tell you exactly how Hungary came up with that name. In the story of Sleeping Beauty, when the fairies raise the princess Aurora, they re-name her Briar Rose. The name Briar rose is a nod to the original story's mention of the rose vines that covered Aurora's tower
@harczymarczy6 жыл бұрын
Csipkerózsika is actually a rough translation of the original German(!) name of Sleeping Beauty (= Dornröschen) from Grimm's fairy tales. Hungarian "csipke" means both lace and rosehips while German "Dorn" means thorn, but German "Rosa" and Hungarian "rózsa" both mean rose, -chen is a German diminutive suffix, forming Röschen with umlaut which was translated into "rózsika" (-ika is a diminutive suffix for nicknames). Rózsa is also a female name (~engl. Rose), Rózsika is used as nickname for Rózsa (~engl. Rosie).

I think Csipkerózsika was named this because in the original story the princess at the age of 16 poke her hand with the tip of a spinning wheel and die by the curse of the fairy that got angry she was not invited to her birthday by the King and Queen. But the curse was weakend by the good fairies to only fall asleep along with everyone in the castle. The King then banished all spinning wheels from the castle but he missed one that was hidden by the evil fairy. When the princess got 16 the evil fairy disguised by magic convinced her to make a lace("Csipke") gift for her mother. While she was making the gift she poke her had accidentally and fell asleep with everyone in the castle. After everyone fell asleep a long time have passed and huge rose bushes started to grow around the castle and made it almost impossible to enter because of the huge torns. Then came Prince Charming hacking thru the bushes with his swrod because he heard of the legend of the sleeping princess. When he found her still asleep he first tries to wake her by calling Sleepy Rose ("Rózsika"). But when does not work he kisses her breaking the curse. At least this is how the story went when my grandmother told me ages ago.

Csipkerózsika IIRC is the Hungarized version of Rosebud, the princess' name in the said tale and our tellings of the story always use this title. Hence the Sleeping Beauty cartoon is also called Csipkerózsika. Kinda complicated but of all the weird renamed titles this makes probably the most sense locally.
@evihars21448 ай бұрын
pipő is a nickname for cipő which is shoe. and pipőke is even more of a nickname for pipő if you put -ke at the end of some words or names, it's like you put the word 'little' in front of the words in English. (not referring to size though, more like 'little Timmy') So, basically it means little shoe. And Hamupipőke means 'little ash shoe'.

Hó = snow, fehér = white, és = and, hét = 7, that was also easy (Lumikki ja seitsemän kääpiötä) 3. I had no idea (Prinsessa Ruusunen) 4. This too I had no idea (Kaksin karkuteillä) 5. As well as this one (Tuhkimo) 6. szép = beautiful, that was enough for me to guess it xD (Kaunotar ja hirviö) 7. jég = ice, which again was enough for me to guess it (Frozen - huurteinen seikkailu) 8. király = king, which once again made me guess it (Leijonakuningas)

1. You literally gave it away with "aristoc(r)at(s)" :p 2. Knowing German, the first one seemed like it's two words in one and it felt like it's somethingsomething and something something something, so I just guessed (correctly) 3. "rózsika" sounds like rose(s) or pink, and the only "rose" I can think of (other than the flower in beauty and the beast) is briar rose aka sleeping beauty, whose dress is also pink, sooo... 4. Aranyhaj makes me think of either spider (araña) or orange (naraña) in spanish, and if I follow the logic that és is and, I still got nothing hah other than Brave but that'd be too long so got nothing... 5. Pipőke reminds me of papuci (romanian for slipper, which is papucs in hungarian, and pronounced the same but the emphasis is on the second syllable instead of the first) and Cinderella's shoes are sometimes called glass slippers so... Cinderella! 6. the something and the something so just guessing beauty and the beast though I also feel like it could be the fox and the hound... 7. Frozen! Because I also kept waiting for it lol also it sounds a tiny bit similar 8. "orosz" makes me think of or(e) which is gold but tangled, cinderella and sleeping beauty have already been done so I got nothing... I'm mad I didn't guess that one as it's my other fave but nothing seemed even close lol (but german or english or spanish logic doesn't apply here at all...)
