Diane Bishop my dog is just as mellow - I think dogs know and adapt to their humans. I have a chronic illness as well (but not CF)

It's not just luck... They got him to be a service dog, so he was carefully selected for the right personality as a puppy, plus spent months with a trainer learning how to behave, including how to settle when it's time to settle.

Keri C, I think your right I'm chronically ill too. I have only ever had rescue dogs and they are as relaxed as Ollie seems to be. Dogs just want to be part of our pack, so they do just adapt to what we do.

Seeing Mary girl struggle for breath, get into coughing fits and even throw up from doing such simple tasks makes me really count my blessings and realize how healthy I am and how grateful I should be! Do you think Ollie can sense a decline in your health because when I'm worse my mums dog always sits with me when I go over and recently she will sit on my feet. So I get guaranteed snuggles when I visit.

Dogs and cats (and most other pets) are awesome at sensing changes in emotions and even health, especially if you have a good bond with them, stroking animals has been proven to lower blood pressure, maybe pets can sense this and realise they have a positive effect on us.

This vlog is so applicable to life. Our little CF'er is pretty healthy and it's hard to imagine what it might be like as she gets older and how this disease will affect her. But it's probably the most important lesson I've learned in caring for her....one day at a time. And at some point, more of them might be harder than easier. You're so brave for sharing your journey! It's so HUMAN-and we all can relate to that in one way or another. Hats off to you two strong, beautiful people.

I just wanted to thank you Mary. Today I had a bad day at a doctors appointment. I suffer from chronic stomach and gastric problems associated with gastroparesis. Which I had to have surgery for about 4 years ago. And now are having severe pain that may be caused from adhesions due to scarring from my surgery. And I am also battling with keeping my weight up and I lost even more weight this time and was really upset. I love watching your videos they always make me feel better and if you can do it and get through things when you are going through so much more than I am then I know that I can. So thank you very very much you're vlogs mean a lot to me knowing that there is other people with chronic illnesses that are getting through it and that I can to. P.S Ollie always puts a smile on my face.

Sweet girl, I know you are going through something very tough but luckily you gave your faith to help see you through it all. Mary, I had congestive heart failure...COPD. My Pulmonary Dr. was so kind to tell me not to drink too much liquids. Did anyone tell you??? We can submurg ourselves under too much water. It has helped me a lot. I'm so grateful for his honesty. I don't go for the 6 or 8 cups. I'm not like everyone. That was 25 yrs. ago. All my friends are different. The world is different. You can dry up. You need a water pill. Tell the dr.. You could get....Sad to see you suffer. Prayers and Blessings... LOVE and hugs to you both...❤....✌
