Love the way Oscar calls Count Basie by his name Bill. So fortunate that these recordings exist. Thanks for posting.

As much as I love Count Basie's music, I never would have guessed that was his first name.

When I was a little kid I saw Count Basie live in Toronto and met him after the show and talked to him for a bit and got his autograph, I still have it. Oscar Peterson lived a few houses away from me at that time in Canada but I never met him.

We are so lucky in this day and age that they preserved moments like this. Two jazz greats, just having a chat. It's a side of Count Basie I've never seen before. Just makes me love his music all the more. And I love the part where Oscar Peterson says, "I can't just hate like that." and Basie says, "I can." and he gives Oscar that look. Priceless.

I was 20 when this production aired, and then as now had some goose bumps & some tears watching two pillars of jazz interact, play and have fun like a couple of kids. You can see the love and respect they have for each other in this. So sad that we don't have them with us anymore, but great for posted recordings like this, thanks Emile!

Two musical legends -- ACTUALLY worthy of the description -- having a conversation! It puts a smile on my face (and gives me hope for mankind).

Today I learned Count Basie's first name is Bill! Now what about Count Chocula and Sesame Street's "The Count"? Go listen to these Titans on their "Satch and Josh" album, it's a delight.

And some of us can make a grand piano sound pretty "brutal" too. Whew! But I'm not a piano player; maybe THAT is why it sounds brutal.

What the Count is talking about with the pedals on uprights is that the pedals on some of the old saloon and ragtime pedals didn't do the same thing that pedals on today's pianos do.

When Baddie said they were all "soul keys" in the lower register... I was wishing we could get a shot of that to see if they were all black or the usual white and black. Anyone know
