Ok so if we account for duping triboulet and do the math by duping sock you get an extra 5 triggers of your cards going from 20 to 25 (5 OG + 5 Red + 5 Dusk + 5 Sock) to then having 10 sock. These extra 5 give 3^5 for poly glass * 2^5 (Idol) * 2^5 (Trib) and around 1 to 2 Bloodstones on avg for about x2 to x4 so a total of x497,664 to x995,328 and a max of x7,962,624 and min of x. Now duping triboulet gives x2 for every trigger you would have so about x2^20 which is x1,048,576 so a higher avg hand but a much lower maximum hand and in a regular scenario duping triboulet would be better but due to bloodstone variance a higher max of of about x7.6 higher but a min of about 4x lower. To clarify the guy suggesting duping triboulet is right it is better by a more consistent hand however in the "earlier" blinds where these hands will always win the variance to chance a higher hand works better in this competition format

1:14:14 I was curious which one is actually better, +1 retrigger on each card, or x2 mult for each trigger, so I did the math Amount of triggers without taking blueprint into account: *5 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 21* base + red seal + dusk + sock and buskin + ?hanging chad once Amount of mult gained each time a card triggers: *~x15.1* (except the middle king that doesn't have polychrome, which only gives ~x10) poly x1.5, glass x2, idol x2, triboulet x2, blood stone ~x1.26 (2 ^ 1/3) If you copy sock and buskin (or dusk), then you get +1 trigger on each card, which comes to a total of: *~x526,661* (15.1 x 15.1 x 10 x 15.1 x 15.1) If you copy triboulet (or idol), then you get x2 mult _each trigger,_ which comes to a total of: *x2,097,152* (2 ^ 21) So turns out, you'd get about 4 times as much mult copying triboulet instead of sock and buskin (although you would also lose a bit of chips, but there's no way this outweighs it), because of how many retriggers you already have, it's pretty close tho, logarithmically

You don't understand how triboulet works. Its only an extra x2 per card played. So you would just get an extra x2 So you get (x2 + x2) per card from copying it. When you retrigger a card you would get ploy (x1.5) Glass (x2) Red seal (x1.5) +(x2) So you get (x2)+(x2)+(x1.5)+(x1.5) plus chips Plus an extra chance at blood stone (x2)

Once again explaining how triggers work while knowing nobody will see it: Always count the total triggers and the total number of the things you're triggering to figure out which is best to duplicate. For example: Dusk + 5 Red-Sealed cards, Triboulet + Bloodstone, and a single Brainstorm to copy one Joker. Without Brainstorm, there are 3 triggers of each card and only 2 jokers to benefit from the triggers totalling 6 (3 x 2) effect triggers. If the Dusk is copied, there will be 4 triggers of each card and 2 jokers to benefit from the triggers totalling 8 (4 x 2) effect triggers. If the Triboulet is copied, there will be 3 triggers of each card and 3 jokers to benefit from the triggers totalling 9 (3 x 3) effect triggers. Edit: If all cards are glass and polychrome, more things will benefit from additional triggers, meaning that copying Dusk will bring a higher score

So I learned this from balatro university. When deciding between more retriggers or more instance of mults, you want a equal amount of both to maximize score. In this case, the base card couting as one trigger, there is 4 triggers + hangging chad without counting brainstorm(base card, red seal, sock and buskin, and dusk). For mult, there is 3 instances of 2x 1 instance of 1.5x and a 1/3 chance of 2x,(the idol, triboulet, bloodstone, glass, polychrome) which is about 16x(with this many trigger i just assume that bloodstone procs 1 every 3 triggers), or 2^4. so there is 4 triggers and 4 mult instances, because of hanging chad providing a singular retrigger on a singular card, it is actually slightly better to copy triboulet or the idol to make the triggers and mults more balanced. I think my math checks out but if you can point out anything wrong tell me.

so watching a bit more, the blueprint made it so that you really want to copy triboulet instead of copying 2 triggers especially if the idol isnt active and when bloodstone doesnt exist. it goes down to only 2 times 2x and 1 times 1.5 which is alot less than 4 triggers. Both copy should go on triboulet when the idol isnt active.

For 1:10:00 TLDR below Well. 2(glass) x 1.5(poly) x 2(trib) x 2(idol) x 1.333333(bloodstone avg) = 16x for every trigger. 5 triggers (16^5) = 1,048,576 to base mult for every card. Also, Hanging chad means one card has 16^6 = 16777216x to base mult. This makes the total mult 16 * (16,777,215 * 1,048,576^4) = 3e32. Now for the same calculations but brainstorming trib instead. 2 x 1.5 x 2 x 2 x 2(brainstorm) x 1.333333x = 32x. 32^4 = 1,048,576x per card. 32^5 = 33,554,432x for hanging chad. 16 * (33,554,432 * 1,048,576^4) = 6e32. Brainstorming trib, assuming 1.33333x from bloodstone is 2x better ONLY because of hanging chad. However, 1.3333x avg does not account for the fact that another round of retriggers means 5 more chances for bloodstone to procc. This means they would be statistically equal, with a 2 in 3 chance of the retrigger being twice as good. A little disclaimer: This should not have happened. 16^5 being equal to 32^4 is a bit of an anomalous coincidence. If we pretend he did not have polychrome, for example, then it would look like this: Brainstorm dusk total = 16 * (10.666666^6 * (10.66666666^5)^4) = 8e27. Brainstorm Trib total = 16 * (21.3333^5 x (21.3333^4)^4) = 1e29. TL:DR These were pretty wild circumstances with very unique coincidences that meant these numbers were somehow the exact same. The rule for what to copy with brainstorm or blueprint is that you should have as many 2x's as retriggers. Extra info: Bloodstone's average + polychrome = 2x. Thus, 4 2x''s and 5 retriggers, or 5 2x's and 4 retriggers. These, are, ultimately the same. It was bloodstone being a chance and hanging chad's existence that made this difficult. For those interested, if using bloodstone and have to decide between an extra retrigger or 2x, pick retrigger. If using hanging chad, copy the 2x. If both, like in this case, they are essentially the same. By the end, he sort of accidentally followed this rule perfectly, after the seltzer was lost. He had 5 triggers, 4 2x's, and a 1.5x. If he did not lose seltzer, he would have been suboptimal.

Granted, but only once per card, whilst copying triboulet would proc triboulet again for every time the card is scored again, so copying dusk would get you (per card) *2 from trib, *2 from photo for the first card (or *3 when he started getting poly glass), and potential *2 from Bloodstone, for a total of up to *4 for any card (*8 for the first card) and *12 for the poly glass (once photograph is gone, and only if bloodstone procs) whilst copying bloodstone would give *2 per proc, so 3 times before sock and buskin making *8 (Dusk + Red Seal) (*16 with Hanging Chad), without the need for bloodstone and *16 after Sock and buskin (*32 with Hanging Chad), So Triboulet was always better, despite the fact that Dusk would indeed retrigger Triboulet

well the difference is, copying triboulet makes it trigger twice *per re-trigger*. So like, if a card triggers 4 times by default, you can make it trigger 5 times by copying a retrigger effect, making triboulet give x2 5 times, or you can copy triboulet, making it retrigger 4 times but giving x2 8 times off of triboulet.
