Almost ten minutes climbing and still flaps 1 are selected. This bird was extremely heavy! Nice video!
@AmericaWest9010 жыл бұрын
MTOW, probably.
@RamakrishnanSRM3 жыл бұрын
The reason for flaps 1 is because: 1. The plane is in MTOW due to the enormous fuel for the record-long flight. 2. Climb rate will be much higher at a slower speed. Because Engine power will be prioritized for climbing rather than speed.

I used to notice how the engines have that added motor sound to the jet engine sound during take-off and ascending, then the motor sound is shut off when reaching cruising altitude. That added motor sound I guess gives the plane extra power to lift it higher. Then it's not needed again because the plane then remains at the same height and then eventually descends. I also used to notice the engines quieting even more for descent. In other words, I guess that an aircraft is usually loudest at take-off, then a little quieter for cruising, and then quieter again for landing. Take-off is the loudest part due to the extra power a plane needs to lift itself higher against gravity. Pilots have said that it's possible to safely land a plane without the engines even on, but won't do it on a commercial flight for safety reasons
@flyingdentist2 жыл бұрын
It's amazing that the flaps stay deployed for a long time after take off to gain altitude.The sound is outstanding.
@WilliamMurphy-uv9pm Жыл бұрын
Even with four engines, this aircraft is underpowered. Thus, long take-off runs and flap deployments. Once at cruise altitude she is a jewel.
@1tothe2the311 ай бұрын
@@WilliamMurphy-uv9pm A345 & A346 are not underpowered. They do have very high MTOW however. The long runout and flaps 1 for so long is because this plane is at MOTW and climb is prioritized over speed.

Not sure the Ops. Procedures on those specific engines. But I would assume since the aircraft is at MTOW (Max Take-Off Weight), being in Singapore with heavy humidity (probably close to 85%) and extreme hot temperatures (lower air density) you must keep max-rated power up to a certain altitude perhaps. Don't quote me on this though.

19 HOURS FLIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@AmericaWest9010 жыл бұрын
For about two years, this was the longest flight (in miles nonstop) for commercial service in the world. 9,600nm. The 77L can fly farther, but demand wasn't in priority for such a route. The 77L could've worked, but this route couldn't profit for its cost to operate. In terms of time, LHR-SYD in a 77L is still longer, (19.5-21.5h's) but is only 9,100nm and is rarely done.
