Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia - the list goes on and on. We're naive if we think we dont have corrupt officials in the West, but its the blatant abuse of power that is so stunning in southeast Asia - when the Police are literally afraid to arrest a hit-and-run driver because of his connections, you know you're living in a dysfunctional society.

Ms Pretty Kawaii, corruption in the Philippines is systemic from the bottom underlings of the Government ranks & all the way to the Top which we refer to as President. Now, the country has elected the son of a former dictator Pres. Marcos to the highest office of the land. Apparently, Filipinos have never learned their past. It is bound to repeat itself. During the pandemic, Phil-Health a Universal Health System of the Philippines lost $1.3Billion due corruption. The Govt. could not account for where these huge amount of money for purpose of procuring Corona Virus vaccines could not be accounted for. Imagine, $1.3billion is a lot of money. Imagine how many poor populace could have been saved if vaccines were available. The government has no accountability whatsoever as if nothing happens. This country profess to be the only Catholic country is Southeast Asia but yet those who are in power does not practice their being a Christian. Their love of money & power consumed them.

So why is it a surprise these charcter acted in that most protective fashion? It only show how ill- informed the domestic populations are and how easy it is to defraud them. A better paradigm would be to abolish the state, as it has only become a means of the wealthy stay rich. This is sad. Indonesians didn't have this culture of debt before the foreign banks. In elementary school we were taught it was virtuous to be "rajin menabung" (diligent about saving). Rentenirs (loan sharks) were considered villains who preyed on the vulnerable. I know it's common in Western countries to be in consumer debt, but at least don't bring that culture here. It's infuriating. I get so annoyed by those calls offering me line of debt. 😿☹️
@Kyle-sg4rm2 жыл бұрын
Who is bringing that culture there? Who brought it to the "western countries"? I never asked for it - neither did millions/billions of other people. I suspect Indonesia and other countries of the "east" might be setup to replace the "west", while the "western countries" become more impoverished, with slave labour driving them forward. Yin yang, duality, etc...... They (the evil ones) use this to control the world. And around and around it goes........ People will tear down the system, when they're instructed to tear down the system. And only because it's in the interest of the manipulators, who never get torn down and operate behind the scenes, walking among us, etc. They are everywhere and occupy all positions. Many aren't what you might call financially rich - but they get payed in energy, through helping enable evil deeds. And presumably have their seat at the table guaranteed once all the peasants are completely in line. Most people can't see them. But when you can see them, you realise they are everywhere - sucking the life out of people, arrogantly. Body language - watch it closely. They don't believe they lie, etc, or have any karmic debt if they disclose their evil intentions to you, however subtle that disclosure may be. This is also how they subtly communicate to each other. A nose scratch, a clearing of the throat, a knock on the table, a sniff, sealed lips...... This evil operates in networks. Families. And is international.

When an Indonesian college student told me how he lament majoring in architect and that he wanted to take law school afterward because it gives more opportunity to make more money, the way he openly talks about it make me realize that its already fucked up from the foundation and nothing will ever fix it

True. People here would rather follow money than accomplishing their dreams. Even though corruption is illegal and very taboo, most people in Indonesia would actually do it if given the chance.

Indonesians worship money to the max.... Your worth is based on how much you have in the country.... It's unusual during everyday conversations that people love to mention how wealthy they are, not to impress but to show how much power they can exercise! I know one Indonesian girl who comes from a very wealthy family who loves to do fine dining three times a week and go to expensive places all over the world twice a month and nobody want to mess with her!

Ade's husband, Krisna, is a former CEO of a bank in the Bakrie organization that later merged with Bank Bali and several others.

Corruption will always be present in a society. But the high amount of corruption in here (Indonesia) is just too much and depressing. It's crazy how most live in a 3x4 studio room, while some can live in mansiond and overabundance.

You can suppress corruptions but your can never have a zero corruption societies; 'cause the underlying of corruption is greed, power and being naïve. "When thing are chaotic laws & orders must be restored". This is the only way to suppress or to minimalize corruptions until the societies feel the level of in justice is acceptable.

I hope this channel makes a documentary about the Philippines that concerns politics, religion, and corruption. Several priests and bishops on payroll by Pork Barrell Queen Janet Lim Napoles. Iglesia Ni Cristo a threat to Philippine democracy during elections due to bloc voting scheme, justified by their own interpretation of the Bible; if a politician, especially that's aiming for presidency, wants to have a 2 million vote advantage, he only needs to announce his support for Iglesia Ni Cristo and the leaders of that Church will command all their members to mandatory vote for that politician, or else it's a sin not to.

Unsurprisingly you do not get mega rich in this day and age without taking a kickback, making dodgy deals and getting your hands dirty. Its just the way this worlds monetary foundation exists. Indonesia and other third world countries are just more on the nose than most places, but it happens literally everywhere. You see someone driving a supercar and living lavish 9 times out of 10 they have gotten their hands dirty. Success in places like Indonesia means corruption.

i dont know whether Miranda is involved in the bribery scandal or not. But try to imagine that she is involved and still having an interview and confidently talking in front of the public. That's what lots of Indonesian corruptors are. Most of them even say that "it is a test from God". The culture of shame has never been a culture of ours. Watch Mata Najwa when she visited Setya Novanto at Sukamiskin Prison if you are still not convinced.

Hey Journeyman, the world would be very interested to know about corruption in the US, pertinently DC & the Military Industrial Complex. Recently, US$53 billion of military aid to Ukraine was approved by the senate. But people are saying that almost every cent of the aid in cash would go to the pockets of the MIC & the politicians in DC while Ukraine would receive the aid only in weapons. Just $20 billions of this money would have been enough to provide housing for all the hundreds of thousands of homeless Americans living in the streets of the main cities of America.
