Have loved his tone since hearing Cissy Strut 1st time in 1970 in Detroit on radio, don't recall if it was WABX or W4. It was tonally different from what I heard as a kid on AM Detroit radio in 60's. Life long Meters fan.

I've heard so many of their bands- I'm going to see the Funky Meters on Saturday- but there is just nothing like the real thing. The energy that the five of them generate together is amazing. I saw the Meters about 20 times back in the day, and this video really captures what I remember.

I hear ya, but let's cut them a little "Medicare Slack" They were all hard livin' musicians in their 60's, Art in his 70's and still getting it done. We've all seen them play better, but just to SEE and HEAR this music in 2012 and now, 2021, is a real treat. Any of the recorded live shows from the early 70's will blow this out of the water, but I'm still lovin' this for old times sake. Rock In Peace - Art.
