Jeff Furr How did it go? Im about to go to a campground on a beach with 3 kids. Do you have any tips?
@Vincent2wice8 жыл бұрын
+Meagan Kosbab Camping on a beach ground is MUCH different than camping in a forest or woodland. for one. sand doesn't hold the anchors well and sand always finds a way into your tent. the only tip would be to lay a large tarp beneath your tent, and leave your shoes outside, otherwise happy camping

We went camping again this weekend at Dan Nicholas Park. The tent was awesome. Went up in 15 minutes. Had two adults, one fifteen year old and three toddlers sleeping in it on two queen air mattresses and one twin air mattress. Also had a four foot long table in the middle with luggage on it. This tent has plenty of room.

Meagan Kosbab, the trip went great. I wish I had some information on camping in a tent at the beach but I've only stayed in an RV there. I guess if I have any tips to offer, there is two things that I'd be sure to take with me. 1) a small broom and dust pan for the sand that will accumulate in the tent 2) I would make sure I had larger stakes to stake out the tent, every time I go to the beach it gets really windy at some point so the larger stakes would assist in the sandy soil. I hope your trip is a success. Thanks for watching

This message is for Lauren Rabun, I accidentally removed your question from the comments. I apologize, did not mean to do that. The question was, how many cots will fit in the tent? Lauren, I'm not sure exactly because we usually use queen air mattresses. We do have one cot that my son uses on occasion. I have not measured the cot but I think that you could put two on each end and two in the middle, total of six, with room to walk and store some luggage. I think eight, possibly nine would fit with no walking room. Hope this helps, sorry I don't have a definite answer and again, I apologize for removing your question from the post.

I've watched a lot of reviews on this tent and you sir have the best review. Exactly what I needed to know and it wasn't too long. After having it for awhile how does it hold up over the years?
@TheFurrminator8 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, so far this tent has held up great, we have used it several times over the last couple years with no issues. This year we have three getaways planned so far and it has worked out that we are staying in cabins and a travel trailer but the next time we go tent camping, we will be staying in this tent. We love how roomy it is and we haven't had any issues with it thus far. I do suggest sealing the seams as a precaution which is what I'll be doing to ours sometime this summer just to have it prepared for our next trip. I'll probably do a how to video on that when I seal the seams. Hope this helps, thanks for watching and enjoy your camping trip.

How well does the tent hold heat? I am a fall and winter camper and I'm kind of concerned about the rain fly and how it holds heat compared to a tent with a regular roof. Truly am considering and help would be greatly appreciated.
@TheFurrminator10 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response. I haven't used the tent in cold weather, just cool weather. My first camping trip is usually In June and the Temperatures range from mid 70's during the day to mid 50's at night. I have only used a heater in the tent a few times just long enough to warm the kids up after their bath. The top of the tent is open but the rainfly does fit snug against the tent. I've already booked our trip for this June and I'm looking forward to using this tent again. Hope this helps. Good Camping.
@KevinHartzog8 жыл бұрын
+LOOSE_X_CANNON If you are a fall and winter camper you really need to invest in a good mummy bag rated to -20 degrees or something. I have found that it is easier to heat up a very small backpacking tent with body heat than anything like this. The ventilation fabric in top really helps reduce the amount of condensation in the tent. With the old tents I grew up with that didn't have vented roofs, you would wake up with water all over everything because there was no way for vapor from breathing or sweating to escape the tent. Water is a good conductor of heat and it will make most cheap sleeping bags worthless if they get wet. I just got one of these tents for family camping. I would just bring a bunch of blankets if I wanted to stay warm because there is plenty of room to put them. Oh, and if you are camping in the winter and you sleep on the ground, the ground with suck the heat right out of you. You have to put a layer of foam like Thermarest down (or at least a good blanket) between you and the floor. YMMV I'm an Eagle Scout and spend many nights in tents below freezing, trust me. ;)

Hello: Great video and thanks for sharing! When fully packed, how much does this tent weigh and what are it's dimensions? I am considering getting this tent for backpacking purposes.
@TheFurrminator8 жыл бұрын
I just measured and weighed the tent as it is, packed in its carry bag. It's about 10" x 12" x 28" and the weight is approximately thirty pounds. I've never went camping by way of back packing but that seems pretty heavy for that type of camping. I had to get the bag balanced on the scales so the weight isn't exact but really close. I hope this helps, thank you for watching
@J_David_Worthington_III8 жыл бұрын
+Jeff Furr Hello and thanks for getting back to me! Yes, that is a bit heavier than I would like to carry!
@TheFurrminator8 жыл бұрын
+David Fodor glad to help, I have had several large tents over the years and they have all been around the same weight and size. I haven't used any that are large yet light weight that I could recommend for back packing but I would think there are some out there due to so many people choosing that form of camping these days.

Did your tent every leak or let water in? Also, what would you recommend to seal/waterproof it? Thanks for the quality video review!
@TheFurrminator8 жыл бұрын
Since making this video, it has leaked a small amount at the bottom of one of the Windows. I feel sure that if I would have sealed the seams, it would not have leaked. I don't know of a particular brand of sealer that works best. I hope you enjoy the tent as much as we have. Thank you for watching.

how durable is this thing?i've got one leg, im trying to compare it to the expensive REI tents and i need to know how well built this thing is. is it durable?will it last me a long time?
@TheFurrminator10 жыл бұрын
How durable is this tent? That is a tough question for me to answer. I've had this tent for just under a year and we have camped in it just a few times. Considering that I always set the tent up before each trip and then again after I return home, I have set it up approximately 12 times. I haven't noticed any issues with the construction of the tent thus far. The tent floor seems to be fairly thick but I always carry an additional tarp to put under the tent to keep rocks and sticks from damage the tent floor. I haven't had any issues with the seams leaking even though I did not seal them before we used it but I am going to seal the seams before our next trip. In my opinion this tent will last a long time and is constructed well. I have never used an REI product so I have no opinion on their tents. I hope this helps.
@batycoda110 жыл бұрын
Jeff Furr yes it does. i have to drag something like that into place , which is why i asked. thinking about it further, does it fold up from sides meeting in the middle to fit the carry case or can folding it up like that make it more difficult? the less dragging i have to do the better. i will remember the tarp idea as well. thanks in advanced.
@TheFurrminator10 жыл бұрын
jack dawson I pack my tent up by folding it from the sides in to the middle. It seems to pack up just fine like that. Usually when folding a tent or tarp there is a lot of air that gets caught inside that has to be pushed out before folding it up completely. This tent doesn't hold as much air when being folded due to the mesh top. I still have to lay on the folded tent to push out the air but there's not as much air to push out. You mentioned having to drag your tent into place. You may have tried this before but a friend of mine purchased a deer cart to use at a scout camp to carry gear for his son's scout troop. in case you're not familiar with it, a deer cart is a light weight folding cart with two spoke wheels and its purpose is to carry a deer out of the woods instead of just dragging dead weight. This may be something that could help. I think the tent is pretty durable, I'm planning on using mine for a long time. I hope this helps.

Jeff Furr thank you so much for the comments and help. this does help me out allot and i know exactly what your talking about with the deer cart and where to get one. thanks again. this will make camping easier and more comfortable.

I do use a tarp under the tent, not so much for water but to help prevent sharp rocks or sticks from damaging the tent floor. It takes about fifteen minutes to get the tent completely set up. I could set it up by myself if I needed to, here is a link to a guy that actually videoed himself setting the same tent up in his back yard. kzbin.info/www/bejne/poOQZ2OHqduabbc On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the easiest to set up, I'd give this tent a 7. @TheFurrminator9 жыл бұрын
It takes about 15 minutes to set it up with the help of one other person. The first time it took about 30 minutes including reading the directions and figuring it out.

How many people fit in that tent
@TheFurrminator8 жыл бұрын
They sell this tent as a ten man tent and I'm sure ten adults could sleep in the this tent on the floor but I'm not sure how comfortable they would be. The most that we have had in the tent is six. We had three children on three small cots, one adult on a single air mattress, one adult on a queen air mattress and one adult on a large cot. All of that with a table and three pieces of luggage. Hope this helps, thank you for watching

Yes, we still have it and we still use it. Not wanting to sell it right now. I looked up the tent on Walmart's website and it looks like they still have it. Here is the link that I found. www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-3-Room-10-Person-Vacation-Tent-Red/34109020?action=product_interest&action_type=title&item_id=34109020&placement_id=irs-302-m3&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id&category=&client_guid=4f512669-8d5e-45bc-89e9-1037a7533a21&customer_id_enc&config_id=302&parent_item_id=22954579&parent_anchor_item_id=22954579&guid=97b1008d-7511-4aa0-a527-88c4f96787e2&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&beacon_version=1.0.1&findingMethod=p13n
