Gotta say this ,Jake's hurt my feelings a little but I can only be proud of someone achieving success through merit and hard work. He is very self aware and I think his lack of arrogance has been a big factor in his success. Though i work hard too, my arrogance has been my downfall. Respect to Jake

24:00 well this tells he had everything to start and keep doing from somewhere , no money needed. People who are broke or in need spend a good amount of the money they get. I would instantly pay a better rent, or use it the haver a better networking.

Any advice for a 55 yr old artist about to enter the content building world? I feel quite intimidated by all these amazing young creators who are so fast to adapt to the ever changing social media world. I have very diverse interest and skill …how do I organize all my video and photo content ? And do I need many channels ?

1) Take your age out of the equation. It has nothing to do with success because it has been shown time after time to come at any age. 2) Be open: learn from everyone who is (again, young and old) and disregard how they make you feel (intimidation, too old, not enough, etc). Your feelings will only hold you back. 4) Take responsible risks, and don’t be afraid to fail… because you will fail, and you can learn a lot from failure. Good luck to you, Chris! 3) Find/build your community: everyone needs support in one form or another. Even if it’s just a simple affirmation. Every little bit helps.

find cross over content. a mash up between a trend, your expertise and speak about it. I did this with Better Call Saul and sales.

We need outlines starting from scratch and no resources or access to tech. Starting without basically anything without the ability to wait, to hope, to get lucky.

11:41 he said all: following trends…! These people later come later tell you “be yourself “ “be bold” “don’t care about others think”, “make something unique”. For example i upload new original classical music almost every week since 2018 , and work about 5 hours each night daily, to get stuck at 500 subs, less than any tits or butt speaking about ice cream. Meanwhile i am paid to compose music, and invited; so here you can see if KZbin is this angel you said….

The one thing that needs to be framed is that he obviously had backing likely lived at home few to no bills as he wasn't "needing" a job. These are great but need to framed around the privileges that working class below the poverty line don't have. There's just a lot of wealth privilege here and time privilege too. Not hating his work but without that frame it loses context.

@@thefutur ostensibly is, consider that there's no overhead , no bills, working class poverty line have few resources only have access to out of date tech. Don't get me wrong one can see how he had a good mindset. It's akin to starting Mario kart in 2nd place with a 30sec lead. Obviously something can be achieved more easily than last place, no nitro or blue shells to equal up the level of the challenge. After listening to 6k+ hours of biographical interviews/ audiobooks and podcasts the one common thing success stories have is usually they had a friend or family member let them live with free rent/ board and not having a time suck poverty wage job.

Chris, great interview as always, good quality and content but I'm not really convinced by Jakes work though. It's great for him that his doing so well but I looked at some of his videos and I don't really get it. I think these shorts are ugly and very stupid. -in short: do the social media stats overrule the quality of the work and content? meaning you can make crap and if you happen to get good stats on social media it will automatically mean your work is good, even if it isn't? -in long: Is it because all the kids nowdays are just infinite-scrolling and liking everything that's roblox-minecraft style? Or am I missing something here? I know everybody always try to endorse someone who has lots of likes so they would be associated with them but that doesn't mean their work is of good quality. What I mean is: have the social media stats become the only metric of quality or are we still allowed to have an opinion about the actual quality of the work. People are likely to tag along with something that has a lot of likes simply because they want to be part of that group and not because the content is good. Think about it!
@thefutur

it's not the only stat, but it's shorthand that you are doing something that many people appreciate. when you're that prolific as Jake is, you can't make masterpieces every time. but you have to respect this young man's hustle and humility. I do.
