Look man! You folks have changed my life!!! I've been struggling to make my design business profitable for almost a decade and because I couldn't figure it out myself, I've been being employed by companies that don't serve me or my wallet. I've been living short of my purpose - and I knew it. I have been watching this channel for 3 weeks and I have already started networking smarter, charging more, being more aggressive with my design style and approach. I feel confident and you, Chris Do, have given me that as a creative. I don't know if I'll ever be able to thank you/repay you, but know that you changed a man's life with what you know. Think of it this way: If you were willing to shell out $50k for a design degree that may or may not have value in the job market, but then decided to opt for the $5k, you've just increased your savings margin by 900%, and that $45k difference can get reinvested instead.
@empireprotege4 жыл бұрын
@uraharasama1 I've spent over $50k combined on courses over the last 2 years. All of them have paid for themselves, plus 10x more. Again this is price versus value. What can you do with the knowledge? To me, the money spent is irrelevant because I make the money right back applying the knowledge learned.
@empireprotege4 жыл бұрын
@uraharasama1 There are some, but a lot of people assume all courses are like that, without realizing if you want next level information you have to invest in it. Not all courses are scams, but now everyone feels they are. Yet courses are the best way to gather expert knowledge. First read books, after making money from that buy courses, then advanced courses, then mentorship, then masterminds. That's how you go from poor to millionaire.

I am thinking about a new type of restaurants : eating-spots in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate. this is opposed to current restaurants, thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are way more powerful than restaurants, along with that, there is an app, people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days, menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app

I think this is an important statement as it reflects how people learn and the material they need to learn with. Most likely the information (books, notes from class) you used to study with vs the content in this video were similar, however it is the presentation that helped you most. Finding the material that helps us learn best is often the challenge which includes the master instructor (trainer/teacher, communicator) and their skill to learn from.

Not having a go at Chris, but 25% is literally 1/4! Half the circle, then half again! He drew like 60% of one quarter xD I know it's pedantic, but as this is a channel mainly for designers, I think it's important to point out, especially given how many designers are asked to produce infographics! It's really common to see bar charts etc "eyed in", and it's good to encourage good maths among designers :)

One of the tricks I find in business is actually who you engage and do business with. All to often entrepreneurs feel they have to do business with the highest bidder. Love it, shared it with 2 others and our team's Slack channel. Chris Do: When a customer comes to you and says "I need an X" I always ask them, is this a big important problem that you want to solve? If not, tell them, "let's find one that is big and important because that's what I want to focus on. I want to do something that will have material impact on your business. I want to move the needle for you. With you. Together we can do that." And this is how I stand out. Love it 🤜🤛

This was amazing. Thank you Chris! Love the emphasis on value and that the buyer determines it. I learned not to waste time trying to convince someone to see value. You can help them realize the value, but you can’t force them to change what they value - that’s a losing game.
@girishshah89292 жыл бұрын
Changing existing perception with logic doesn't work because perception happens before thinking happens. In fact, the perception shapes thinking. You have to do something so the new perception replaces the old one. In a way, it's like making the buyer see what you see. Differing perceptions is the basis of all disagreements.

I love when genius “Chris” says “I’m just curious”. I believe that’s the most strategic question to gain true information. By saying that “I’m just curious”, it is presumed that no judgment will be passed, you can relax and tell me the truth, and it’s just for the sake of “curiosity”. This is the subconscious & subliminal message here (use of open, palm up hand gesture). Chris uses this statement often on the shows and podcast. I’m borrowing that. I’m using starting right now. Hey Chris, is that statement a conscious, inquiry strategy or do you just ask it naturally? Tell me, I’m just curious. Thanks 👍🏿

Awesome stuff! I am aware that consciously spending much of my time consuming "free" content still costs me my most valuable asset I have - time. However, I definitely see it as an invested asset spend, with an expected ROI. These videos do not disappoint. I would have to see the numbers on it - I'm sure you have calculated the benefits and are thereby spending your time wisely with these whiteboard sessions and also expect a positive return. You could easily put this content behind a paywall for immediate profit, but I think you're playing the long game by first lifting people's mindsets, offering real value, and offering bigger things down the road as you continue to build your personal brand. Great! You'll also be able to sleep well at night thinking of the people you're helping along the way. Plus, an elevated mind knows the value of a dollar and would gladly trade it for information on how to make two more. Keep it up 👍🏻
@JoeChancellor4 жыл бұрын
When you're providing a service~ you want to think in terms of expertise. Reminds me of back in the day when practising law I wanted to make sure I was receiving a solid retainer fee. But what 90% of new or inexperienced service providers (coaches... marketing pros included) tend to request what they think they can get... NOT what the fee should be. Meaning, you have to take yourself and your skills seriously first before your clients will. So you need to ask for a retainer amount that's going to "pay you... meaning you're going to earn for growth not for break even."

This value part (called WTP in b-school) very intuitively explains how nowadays virtual/digital products, take NFTs as an example, are purchased and sold at the prices that make people scratching their heads. To think that the emotional value is perhaps the deciding factor to eventually drive the margin sheds light on why marketing is such a worth skill to master.

This video is just top notch when it comes to information. Only thing that it could have to make a bit better is to have timestamps, but overall the information shared here is golden.

30:30 the manufacturer now has the added cost of marketing, selling and delivering the product to the end customer (the work previously done by the retailer). Will you factor that in?
@nicc78903 жыл бұрын
in the manufacturing business, eg. there is a manufacturer and supplier, the manufacturer takes care of the branding, conduct share marketing with the suppliers because at the end of the day, the brand ultimately belong to the manufacturer and it is the most important thing to keep their brand flying high against their competitor, they cannot run away from A&P , they do have a cost there, and that is why, mass manufacturing to keep the cost low, to keep it even lower, produce them in the developing country and pay half the currency , what the cost, price and value he factor out here is just an example of how things work , no manufacturer will do a business that's not making any money, their plants alone cost millions
