I'm actually starting to get why Mr Krabs got all the bad stuff happening to him, he was always selfish, keeping money all to himself, but now the invasion started, he realized the times are tough and his daughter was in danger, leaving behind his money for his daughter and went off to save her. And when the Krusty Krab fell out of the sky and got demolished, he wanted revenge and his daughter, instead of searching through the debris for the secret formula, money or mourn for his restaurant he grabbed everyone and went on to find the real nest. Once here he found out his daughter is deceased and Spongebob is on the verge of death, Mr Krabs made the ultimate sacrifice, choosing the entire Bikini Bottom instead of himself and his fortune. A story of a man who had to learn to stop being selfish for everyone.

4:24:05 Wow, it’s crazy how the creators took moments of the later series where patrick was more of a jerk and uses them as a moment of acceptance for patrick to say he knows and regrets his past mistakes. I know it’s a fangame and it’s obviously non-canon, but having any form of having patrick come to terms with his bad past is better than it not being aknowledged at all. But seriously, i really wish nickelodeon aknowledged how much of a jerk they were making him in the later series.

Man I remember like it was only yesterday when ths game was originally supposed to be released back in November 2019. Unfortunately it got delayed and the developers hoped to release it sometime in 2020 but that never happened and I just assumed the game was abandoned. Luckily when the game was announced for its release on March 1st 2021 I was soooo hyped and downloaded it the day it was available. Hard to believe it’s already been over a year and it’s probably the best fan made horror game of 2021. Major props to Padre Snowmizzle and Dan Microwave games for making this man.

Realistically speaking this game will never be official, at least how it is now due to the "horror game" aspect and characteristics. Nick would never accept Spongebob being used this way. However, I could imagine them getting in touch with the creator and having him lead some kind of "hide and seek" remake with waaaaay less dark theming.

The game itself is based around a cat and mouse type dynamic so I have trouble imagining this game without the "hide and seek" or "tag" aspect to it without scrapping the core gameplay.

Out of all the levels in this great fangame, the rock botton section is the scariest. When Mr. Krabs orders Squidward to use the camera, the Parasitic Worm is shown, and everyone is terrified for a good reason. It is not a clone or a Jellien grunt that is ordered by its Overlord out to get you, no no no. It is an apex predator that sees the gang as its next meal. And thats not even the main reason why it makes this level terrifying, its not alone. The Alaskan Bull Worm is out on the hunt too, and big enough to swallow the gang in one bite.

Even after 2 years, I still find this game as the best Spongebob fan game. Not because I'm a big Spongebob geek, but also because of how much love was put into this game. It has an amazing storyline, which was created from an episode that was a parody of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers and managed to create it in an entirely different way. They portrayed Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs perfectly in this game and the little remarks and references to other episodes top it off for me. Truly one of the best SpongeBob fan games of all time.

You know, this set-up makes for a great and more darkly humorous Dark Pictures Anthology Game. You play as Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs as well as Sandy (since each game has 5 characters and she`d be my pick for the 5th protagonist) and you have to try to collect parts to build the ultimate weapon to stop the paranormal threat that`s quickly conquering Bikini Bottom. Along the way, you strengthen or hinder group bonds, improve the weapon as you traverse the areas and all 5 characters live or die based on choices, QTE responses and how well the device you built was actually put together. Extra Info: One of the main tasks within the game has the group try to collect enough parts (known as gear pieces) alongside specific machinery pieces in order to build an ultimate mayo gun weapon to defeat the lead Jellian. Throughout the playthrough, there are moments where someone can use a portion of their collected material to activate some machinery (such as unlocking a metal door or lowering a bridge over a chasm) in order to explore new areas and possibly have new dialogue options, with the risk even offering a bigger stash of gear to find down the road. The devices strength works like the military strength meter in Mass Effect 3, as having it too low in the end results in one of the character’s deaths while passing a specific amount of gear used keeps the character alive. For the 13 premonitions, they appear in these mysterious bubbles hovering still in various locations. Premonition Bubbles: First collectable- At the Glove World Carnival before the Jellians attack, Spongebob is shown at a picnic table picking up a small pile of nuts and bolts. As he notes his find, a side icon appears and indicates he has 5 gear pieces. Erased- Spongebob is shown laying on the floor of his house with several sections of his body erased. He pleads desperately to DoodleBob, standing over him holding a pencil eraser, to show him mercy. DoodleBob only mocks Spongebob before erasing what`s left of him from existence, with Spongebob screaming in agony the whole time. Collapse- The inner structure of the Rock Bottom Museum is shown violently shaking, looking like it`ll completely fall apart any moment. Discontinued- Mr. Krabs is seen in the Bikini Bottom grocery store surrounded by many Jellian shoppers, screaming as he is getting attacked and literally torn to bloody pieces by them (with one Jellian even breaking and decapitating his right claw). Security- At the Tentacle Acres security room, Squidward is shown urgently looking up from a map and speaks through a monitor’s microphone while gesturing someone to move. On said monitor screen, Patrick is seen on a street being approached by ominous lights in the distance and moving to the left as directed. Side path- Spongebob (being playable) is shown walking down a street with Mr. Krabs and Patrick. He then stops near a tree and the camera moves to focus on a nearby fence opening that`s barely noticeable, hinting at a secret area to explore. Crushed - All the playable characters except for Patrick are seen running to the entrance of the Rock Bottom Museum. Spongebob then stops and turns around, where he sees the starfish in a dark, rocky environment all bloody and beat up while trying to crawl over. Spongebob screams his friends name and tries to rush over, only to be held back by Mr. Krabs as a giant worm monsters tail appears behind Patrick and crushes him with a swing of its tail. Fall- During the section where the Krusty Krab is lifted high in the air, Squidward is shown getting hit by a swarm of Jellian Jellyfish and is knocked outside as a result, falling hundreds of feet and immediately dying upon hitting the ground. Aim- Squidward is alone in the Krusty Krab being approached by a shadow that looks like the Hash Slinging Slasher. In his hands is a hose and he is shown frantically setting the nozzle to full blast mode before pointing it at his foe. Hit- An acorn shaped device inside Sandys tree dome is shown firing a laser, which hits said squirrel in the throat. Sandy coughs up a lot of blood before falling and slamming her head on a workbench, caving in an eye and part of her skull. Crafted- All 5 playable characters are shown standing at a table in the Krusty Krab and looking down at a fully crafted mayo gun. An icon onscreen indicates that 1500/1000 gear pieces have been used as Spongebob is heard making angelic choir sounds in the background. Shadows- Patrick is shown in a large room in the Rock Bottom Museum that`s covered in fog. Two Spongebob silhouettes are approaching him, with a QTE prompt to attack appearing on both of them as they close in. Bus (Gold Bubble)- The cast of VicTORIous (Tori, Trina, Andre, Beck, Jade, Robbie, Cat & Sikowitz- all of whom are the next playable cast) are seen in a fancy bus looking out a window, where what looks like a horde of zombies is attacking and devouring a crowd in an open field by a forest. As the chaos continues, Tori`s horrified reaction is shown while Sikowitz is seen running past her. For the worst possible ending, only two characters get to the museum (having plot armor if the other three died) and after an encounter with the doodles that has them mocking the survivors before leaving (as you need to have at least three survivors to have someone battle them to the possible death), the final boss is faced. Whoever was selected uses the mayo gun and dies when it explodes at the end due to it not having enough gear equipped to make it stable (though failing too many QTE`s also triggers the death scene). The sole survivor finds their friends corpse in the aftermath but before they can mourn the building starts to quake due to the force from the mayo guns big blast. The whole museum quake prompts the survivor to run, where plenty of deadly hazards emerge (from heavy debris crumbling to electrocuted wet floors to even the final boss reemerging a few more times to attack (throwing pipes like spears for example) before he gets put down for real). While it isn`t impossible for the last character to make it to the end, there is a notable difficulty spike with more QTE`s as well as some choices that lead to death that two or more survivors would`ve possibly made it through. The 5th character dies from the destruction while the freed Bikini Bottom residents (most of whom survive no matter what, as one of the two characters freed a few from the cocoons earlier and told them to help the others before the doodles used a trap to block them off from the main room) observe the aftermath outside. A large army force then shows up as the screen fades to black (with them also killing the giant worm monster if it wasn`t scared off during the camera section). In the final scene, a vigil is held outside the Krusty Krab (which the army mostly repaired and made into a temporary refuge base) and the five characters names/pictures are seen among a makeshift memorial for the dead, with some optional survivor’s reactions being shown in the crowd. The best ending has all 5 characters arrive at the museum where they free a few captured citizens before they get blocked off from the main room by the doodles and face them (with each option having unique dialogue and tactics to destroy the foes, provided they pass the QTE`s) and then defeat the final boss, surviving if all the QTE`s were passed and enough gear was used to craft the mayo gun. In the aftermath, the other 4 wake up after getting blown back by the ultimate big blast and find their friend alive and well. Before anyone can react, the museum starts to crumble prompting the team to try and get out of the chaos alive. Should all QTE`s be succeeded, the group unite with the freed Bikini Bottom residents outside and have notable interactions (especially if side characters like Pearl, Gary and Larry were saved) before the army arrives. Like the worst ending, a vigil for those killed is held outside the Krusty Krab as it temporarily becomes a refugee center for the town survivors (with some characters more upset if specific characters died, (like Spongebob if he lost Gary and/or Patrick & Krabs if he lost Pearl). The survivors then go inside the busy restaurant and work on helping others or try to cope with their experience (with things lighter in tone if all 5 + every optional survivor made it), while waiting for the army to declare the town safe again. 2024 bonus update/details: -In all the cutscenes focusing on the Curator, he wears a part of a pirate costume that`s different every time the story cuts away to him in his repository (such as a pirate hat in the first one, an eye patch in another and an overcoat that resembles Patchy the Pirates in the games closing scene where he goes over what characters are dead and alive). He notes this in the beginning and says it`s the only amount of zaniness from the source material he`ll embrace. -The Curators presence is hinted to be the reason the stories world shifted into something darker (though some wacky humor can remain if you continue keeping everyone playable alive). One effect is that Spongebob can`t regrow any dethatched body parts and suffers physical injuries like a real person would (which he notes when he gets a cut on his elbow at the Glove World fair before the Jellian attack and has to get some medical aid with Sandy helping). This explains why he`s easier to kill off when compared to an average episode where he got over big injuries easily. (More info posted in replies)

(Additional Information) All the characters potential first deaths: (Note: For the first four characters, only one of the deaths can be carried out in a playthrough, as at least three characters meet up with Mr. Krabs in the Krusty Krab after the Jellian Pearl scene and the Spongebob/Patrick/Squidward house scenes play out. For example, if Sandy dies first, then the other trio would avoid their first death scenes by a deus ex machina, a moment of incompetence from their potential killer giving them the perfect moment to flee or by simple dumb luck.) Sandy- Sandy is the first playable character who can potentially die and has three different deaths that can play out (due to a choice made at the Glove World Carnival during the Jellian Attack that has the squirrel either try to find Spongebob (thinking she saw him run off towards Goo Lagoon only to discover it was Girly Girl from Farawayville, who in turn gets captured when Sandy leaves to find her a bottle of sparkling water at a food stand) or leave with Mr. Krabs in his car (being persuaded by him that Spongebob is safe with Patrick and Squidward and that they need to go to Krab`s house to get Pearl along with some stashed military supplies from Krab`s time in the navy)). The Chase "Spongebob" to Goo Lagoon option has Sandy try to save Larry when she sees he got stuck in a nearby beach supply shop (with his own survival up to player choice as well-though it's worth noting if this location wasn`t visited he appears later in a different life or death situation in the story) and ultimately fights a small group of Jellians inside. A few specific failed QTE`s cause Sandy to fail hitting her foes, who in turn manage to fully break one of her legs before shattering her helmet while keeping her restrained, resulting in her graphically drowning to death before her corpse is shown being dragged away. The stick with Krabs option has another branching choice to make, as Sandy is keeping guard outside while Mr. Krabs is collecting his money and being stalked by "Pearl" (leading to jumpscares, as well as his discovery of the Jellians weakness to mayo). As she examines the area, Sandy sees mysterious activity past the backyard and over a hill (along with possible cries for help) while also seeing a strange figure moving inside the anchor house and notes Krabs could be in peril. Going to investigate past the hill has Sandy discover a family has been captured by Jellians and is forced to fight when she either gets discovered or chooses to attack at the right moment. Like the other choice, failed QTE`s lead to Sandy missing an attack and die when she`s restrained by her foes after her helmet is shattered, with the main difference being an arm broken instead of a leg. The choice to investigate inside the house has Sandy climb to the upper floor after getting a latter and ends up confronting Jellian Pearl, with her putting up a fight against a foe that surprisingly has her struggle to stay alive. Failed QTEs cause Jellian Pearl to grab Sandy and brutally smash her head against a wall, breaking her helmet. Before what`s left of the helmet even fills up, Jellian Pearl then slams Sandy headfirst into the wall several more times at full force before Mr. Krabs shows up with mayo and dissolves his imposter daughter. Krabs then discovers Sandy is dead, with her caved in face barely recognizable, and leaves her body behind (where a jellian jellyfish takes it away after Krabs drives off). Causing Sandy to die one of these three deaths later has two of the characters find her corpse near the Salty Spitoon within a green cocoon, with a keep calm segment either resulting in a character burying it (passed) or having it taken away to the Rock Bottom Museum (failed), where it shows up in another jumpscare moment. A deformed Jellian clone of Sandy also gets briefly faced off in the Spitoon as well. Spongebob- Spongebobs first potential death has him try and fail to evade DoodleBob in his house. The segment containing it has Spongebob searching various rooms in his house to try and find Gary (as there are several hiding spots, time limits and events that trigger possible life or death QTE`s, with some specific rooms having to be fully searched before the sponge can progress). After either finding Gary and lowering him outside to safety (telling him to get outside help) or getting detected by the doodles, Spongebob is discovered and attempts to flee, only to trip in his living room and get several parts of his body erased by Doodlebobs pencil. Spongebob pleads mercy from Doodlebob, who in turn mocks him by declaring he`s the real Spongebob before erasing all but an arm from existence. The scene then cuts to Patrick and Squidward outside by the boatmobile, wondering where Spongebob is. The front door to the pineapple house is kicked open and much to the duo's horror, they see Doodlebob say "Spongebob`s" here before erasing the real counterpart's arm from existence. As he menacingly begins to approach the duo, Patrick and Squidward panic and drive off with Doodlebobs taunts heard as they leave the street. Patrick- Patricks segment in his rock during the early supply gathering part has him get dragged to the inner workings of his mind by some unknown supernatural force, where he must navigate a dark maze while avoiding foes and a few traps. Getting detected and failing to dodge the traps causes a health meter Patrick has start dwindling. Should it hit zero at any point, Patrick wakes up in his house apparently unharmed and goes outside where he greets Spongebob and Squidward, who are by the boatmobile. He starts to walk over, only to stop and have his expression go unnaturally blank. Before either of his friends can approach, they see Patrick violently twitch and bleed from the eyes and mouth before collapsing to the ground dead. The sudden event makes the already tense duo freak out and drive off, leaving the starfish's body behind as the eerie sounds from the dark maze are heard in the real world. Squidward- During the segment where Squidward gathers stuff from his house, the deformed giant Jellian jellyfish is shown stalking and searching for him, with several hiding sections and QTE`s potentially determining Squidwards fate. Squidwards first demise has him ultimately caught in the room where he paints his self-portraits and has some similarity to Erins first death by Du`Met in "The Devil in Me". The Jellyfish monster grabs Squidward as well as his clarinet and stabs him through the throat with his instrument, with the tip sticking out of the back of his head. The monster then flings Squidward out one of the nearby windows, where Spongebob and Patrick (who have gathered outside near the boatmobile at this point) witness their friend hit the ground, give off one last gurgling sound of pain and die, prompting them to drive off in panic. Mr. Krabs- Out of all the characters, Krabs is the one who`s first death scene is the longest to reach. After a few missions where at least four characters have started to get the parts for their weapon, Mr. Krabs and either Spongebob or Patrick go to the grocery store to collect some mayo (where the "Aim" premonition bubble can be found to the side of the store, along with some gear parts that can be found scattered on the ground and even pickpocketed from a few Jellians, with the Bubble Bass one having a small stash in his pants pocket). As they navigate the area, collect mayo jars and try to avoid detection, a suspicion meter comes into play. Here, there are scripted moments where a jellian starts to get suspicious of the duo and Krabs has to respond (such as Deflective "There`s nothing unusual going on here" or Intimidating "I`d watch where I was going if I were you" in one example by the frozen food section) while also having QTEs and walking segments that has him try to avoid bumping into shoppers. The more wrong choices and/or QTE fails are made, the more the meter fills, with Mr. Krabs fate determined near the checkout section. Having the meter very high has the Jellians realize who the duo are and block the exit, which causes a chase in the store as Krabs and Spongebob/Patrick circle around the place before trying to escape (gear parts can be used to open some doors during the collecting segment, which are notably costly but could increase Krabs odds of escaping as a dead end becomes a way out instead). Failing this has Mr. Krabs cornered in one of a few possible spots and then violently torn to literal pieces by the attacking Jellians. This indirectly helps give Spongebob/Patrick the opportunity to escape with some mayo and gear pieces (albeit with much less than an undetected encounter), with them briefly looking back to see their fallen comrade's corpse get stomped on by the Jellian mob before they leave the store. Other: -The 50 clues to be found within the game involve more details about the Jellians origins and plans, along with a failed government coverup. There`s a joke in one of the early short video clues that has the King Jellian tell his minions to scatter the other clues around in random places for anyone to find, explaining why some items like a secret government folder is found on a bench at Goo Lagoon or how a chart full of info on the Jellians biology and mannerisms can be located in Tentacle Acres.

I'm so proud of Patrick! He may not be smart but he understands friendship more than anything and that line before he finally eliminated Doodle Patrick is just GOLD! Edit: I was reading the comments below and noticed that one of the comments said that it was nice that the devs of this game took moments of the later series when Patrick was becoming more of a jerk and I totally agree. I haven't watched Spongebob in a while but I've noticed that Patrick has become more dislikable now instead in the previous seasons of the series and for the fact that in this game he acknowledges it, admitted it, and regretted it just shows how much the devs paid attention to those little details and how good his character development has become. It makes me miss the old Patrick 🥹

For those unaware, there is a secret ending to this game if you (going off the wiki) get all achievements and S-rank all the levels. The cutscene will instead have the secret formula in Mr.Krabs's claw instead of being empty. The cutscene brings us to one year after the events of the game. The Krusty Krab has been rebuilt and business is carrying on like usual. Patrick, Spongebob, and Squidward then pay respects to Mr.Krabs at his grave, where he is buried next to his daughter outside the restaurant. Then it ends with Berry (the pink bear) mad about you taking back your Goofy Goober tokens and Mr.Krabs stealing his bike, and states that he's glad that the old crab is dead. He then leaves Bikini Bottom for Strange Terror from the Deep, another one of the creator's games.
