Monstro was a throw away world literally and thats fine. Its a whale afterall, consider how big Monstro is during your fight on BBS, then compare that to how big he was when he swallows your entire gummi ship whole in kh1. The size is laughably different. In BBS, theres no chance of that much world being within that whale, but in kh1, the scale allows for that size to be somewhat believable. then you get there and everything looks really similar. Then consider once pinnochio and gepetto are out...there is no world here this is a fucking animal lmao. It was bland to look at after 3 rooms, the mouth was the most entertaining room and the boss we okay, i like og heartless designs for the most part. My real problem starts when i finally get done with that boring world and get the most offensively ugly keyblade i have ever seen. Id rather they gave me the wooden sword from traverse town

@gengashaunt33223 жыл бұрын
@@wafcone It was only confusing for peoples first playthrough, but people forget this was one of the first worlds in the first game of the series. Yes, you were supposed to be confused, but this isnt the overall issue kh1 as a game must be considered 1st. It had more incentive to explore, you found chests in pretty cool places, and in this, the game wanted you to interact with things and find shit, such as "I wonder whatll happen if these were out" in Olympus. Its teasing the question, and it begs the question, can these be put out? Try it. doesnt work? What about blizzard? Boom. Same with Wonderland. Its exactly like alice in the movie. Trying things, looking around. So Wonderland was going to be tricky, but mixed with the much better exploration, its confusion made exploring foreign because you didnt know how the world worked. Most other worlds are worlds where humans are, and the outlier is the villian. Here, this is kind of not real to begin with. Alien world or dreaming. Much in the way you can dream youre in a house, but look to your right, someone who you knew was there is gone. The bizarre room is baiting you. Why is it bizarre? Sure a bed that smashes into the wall is strange, but the teddy bear high on the wall? A faucet is strange? You go into the same room from different angle and it wants you to interact. Why would you be prompted by the target system to interact with the 2 lamps unless you could do something? Overall, the world was meant to display puzzle solving and platforming, and if you are going through it for the first time, it only annoys you because you FINALLY get to another world and get stronger and find out more of whats going on, just to feel unnecessarily confused and feeling your momentum come to a stop as soon as you think its about to pick up. Monstro in my opinion was more confusing, and its because everything looked the same, which can be considered the "bad" version of confusing level design in a game. Except its less level design and more everything being the same color. Alice in Wonderland i personally feel gets unfairly judged as far worse than it really was, and for a game thats this old, the puzzles really arent that hard. I was satisfied everytime i figured something out. Should a game like this have puzzles like those? Perhaps youre asking the wrong question when you consider how confusing the story itself is, nevermind Alice and Wonderland.

I actually miss the platform aspect in kingdom hearts series and how some worlds, were sort of a labyrinth. I found it somehow added depth to the worlds. Also when you finally understand how a world like kh1 atlantica, deep jungle or captain's hook ship work, you feel really glad and the world becomes somehow your place. I remind you also that Hollow Bastion was designed in the same labyrinth like fashion and look how everyone likes it.

I can imagine the conversation for Atlantica went something like this: "Hey, you know how Kingdom Hearts is, generally, a hack and slash that moves more or less, with a 3-Dimensional Control scheme?" "Yeah?" "You know what it needs?" "What?" "How about a 4 dimensional control scheme for a single level with a Boss fight that revolves heavily around that scheme and is a broken fight unless the player has a single upgrade (Leaf Bracer)?" The dev went on, apparently, unchallenged.

The funniest part about this video is that the six places I always wanted to go back to after I beat the game was Olympus Coliseum, Hollow Bastion, Hundred Acre Wood, Tarzan,Neverland, and Wonderland. Neverland primarily because of the harder heartless and allowing me to fly. Tarzan because I just loved the atmosphere...how was it confusing? Its basically you could either go straight or backwards. I agree that Wonderland was confusing...but I liked that about it. I could actually explore and it doesn't take you very long to figure out where to go. Monstro...my least favorite world..was more confusing to me. Hollow Bastion was primarily so i could beat Xemnas. Olympus Colliseum, and Hundred acre wood....however...were MINI GAMES. Side Stories. There wasn't a point to them because it was just something to do on the side. You don't like it because there wasn't a point to it. THAT WAS THE POINT. Do you hate mirage arena too? How about collecting the puppies? Oap...don't see a point in defeating Sephiroth, Vanitas Lingering Spirit, or any of the other secret enemies. Olympus Coliseum isn't on this list. Was there actually a point to that one? What was it? I don't see a point in doing any of those tournaments. The only thing i agree with you in this list is Atlantica.

KH1 was the superior game! Hands down, anybody who grew up loving the franchise since the original will tell you that. They removed SO much of the magic that made KH special out of KH2 that is should have been a crime! They also made it way to streamlined and easy, completely ruined the magic and summons. Butchered the MP gage, neutered the level exploring. Killed off all the extras and hidden stuff. Made Glide and Double jump completely useless and so on and so on!

I think the point of Atlantica in KH1 was to teach Sora that the Keyblade is a responsibility, Sora just had the mindset of it being an adventure. In KH2, it was there to show that not everything was corrupted by darkness, that it was possible to eliminate darkness within a world.

The 100 Acre Wood in Kingdom Hearts 2 is the only reason I don't have 100% completion. I was able to humiliate myself by playing through Atlantica. I hated 100 Acre Wood. I loved Winnie the Pooh. Not this world. This world made me feel like I was being mocked. You think Wonderland was confusing? Good thing Alice in Wonderland is literally a book written by a medically-diagnosed madman about an insane child having a fever dream. You were confused. Good. That's the point. The entire point of Wonderland is that it's not funny, entertaining, or otherwise a positive experience. That's why it's called "Mad". Alice thinks everyone but her suffers from insanity. What kind of person has a tendency to believe that they are literally the on,y person on the planet who isn't crazy? Crazy people. The point of you being confused is that the world is actually having that effect on Sora, and you are seeing the world as he does. You see Wonderland the same way a madman sees the real world, and that is exactly what was intended. The author may have been insane, and he was a horrible excuse for a human being, even from a purely objective standpoint, but considering how angry and confused you were in that world, he is VERY good at letting normal people know what they look like to him. I'm not absolving him of anything, of course. Being good at making readers act how you intended doesn't vindicate him. It just makes him an irredeemable monster who writes really well.
@kylele238 жыл бұрын
The problem comes when Wonderland is one of the first worlds that the player has to go through. There shouldn't have been a cryptic world so early on, it would be more excusable of Wonderland was one of the worlds you visited near the end, but it's practically at the beginning. Not to mention you have to find Stench in a treasure chest on a stove. There's clarity, and then there's bullshit.

I gotta say, I hate what they did to the Heartless color palettes in the Final Mix. They look like a little kid just said, "this head is orange" or "this tail is yellow". General consensus, Disney had good movie ideas to base worlds on, Square Enix just screwed up the execution on all of them. I feel that's one of the only reasons Hercules, Nightmare and Aladdin remained in the series, cause they didn't have issues from the get go, but franchises like Tarzan, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Little Mermaid, Pinocchio and Winnie the Pooh were all victims of bad gameplay, and not necessarily bad world ideas.

I actually loved these worlds you mentioned, including Atlantica. True, some of these same are confusing at times, but that is what makes these games so unique and enjoyable!
@BassEXE10 жыл бұрын
The Hundred Acre Wood is intentionally meant to be a sub-world. Considering how peaceful the world is, it would make sense to have it full of mini-games. The KH games always made the world optional and never mandatory to do. Yes it is pretty boring in contrast to other main worlds, but I don't think it would be one of the worst ever made. Wonderland was definitely one of the most confusing worlds out there, but I didn't hate it, it was unique in the sense that you had to think outside the box to complete the world. Deep Jungle was an ok world I thought, the soundtrack was awesome for that world. I actually disliked Timeless River more than Deep Jungle. Kingdom Hearts 2 Atlantica is by far the worst world they ever made period. Kingdom Hearts 1 was actually pretty good because you could ACTUALLY FIGHT IN THAT WORLD IN 1. Yea it was a confusing map (I know I was stuck for about an hour trying to figure out where to go the first time around), but it was a lot better than the shitty 2 areas that you got for KH 2. I would agree though that I hope that this world does not return for KH 3 (it didn't even make an appearance in DDD so I don't think it will appear in 3) as they have pretty much completed the story at this point for Atlantica.

I remember taking a while to beat Wonderland the first time I played KH. But it was mostly because I was younger, stupider and my English wasn't all that good. Deep Jungle isn't all that confusing, it's just annoying how you have to go back and forth, back and forth several times. What saves Nerverland is the fact that you get to fight Phantom there. 100 Acre Wood and Atlantica just... fuck that.
@wolflover555710 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with your list. I had a hard time getting around in Tarzan's world and I had a hard time finding the last boss battle of Atlantica, and Wonderland is so confusing on where to go and how to get to a specific location.

Ya, I'm playing Kingdom Hearts 1 on my PS2 currently, and I'm on Atlantica, I can't play Atlantica, Deep Jungle, or Wonderland without watching a walkthrough

Harsh on atlantica brah, I for one loved the look and feel of it and for them to get Jodi Benson to voice Ariel again just gave it that magic.

I really hate that the most confusing worlds of kingdom hearts are the first ones, it kinda pushes people away and makes them give up on the game. Such a shame.

Agree with Atlantica at number 1...like how tf were we meant to know to ride that dolphin guy and take us to the sunken ship??? The only way you found out was by talking to flounder who hides bloody everywhere.

I agree you with Atlantica. Recently I began playing the HD KH Games for PS3 after finishing completely what I had left on BBS FM in PSP (growing up all 3 character to level 99, beating Armor Of The Master and No Heart, etc) and doing more things (like earning all trophies in Re:Coded, witch was tortuous...), and once I arrived to Atlantica... Heartless appearing almost everywhere, slow to kill them because I selected the expert mode, etc... simply annoying... and the control is... "bad" is a word soft for calificate it... not horrible, but not good the control in Atlantica... I don't agree with Never Land. You are right about is pointless learning to fly in a ship, but that world is special in my opinion ^^ Another annoying one could be Agrabah, in the cave... And the wonderland world was... yes, actually gives some headaches too xD Well, bye to you and bye guys xD

If you got confused at Atlantica place you diffidently weren't made for puzzle games. Honestly i liked that world in kingdom hearts 1 not so much 2 buuuut........ i admit kingdom hearts 1 and 2 you weren't really connected to the world, you didn't really feel like you were under the sea exploring all of that world that you saw in the movies. In kingdom hearts 3 i hope they make it open world like, with little to no loading screens.

I feel like I'm one of the few people that actually really likes Atlantica. The only real problem I had with it in the first game was the swim controls, other then that I liked it. It's a shame that it was relegated to a music mini game world in KH 2 because i felt like the swim controls (my only complaint with the first game's Atlantica) was greatly improved.
@lehahiah819 жыл бұрын
+TheGreenPandaGamer Yeah they did improve the swim controls in KH2, but it ended up being completely pointless because you don't even go anywhere.

Nothing is worse than atlantica in Kingdom Hearts 2. If I ever hear "Swim this way we'll dance and we'll play" again, I will seriously hang myself.

I hate how Kingdom Hearts consistently fails with Halloween Town. The Nightmare Before Christmas is filled with so many creatively designed characters, and practically none of them show up in any of the games. You get Jack, Sally, The Mayor, Dr. Finklestien, Lock, Shock Barrel, Zero, Santa and Oggie Boogie. What about the witch sisters, the tree with the hanging skeletons, the 4 vampires, the swamp creature lady, the harlequin demon, the guy with the axe in his head, the zombie family, that little bat kid, the clown with the tear-away face, the melting guy, the werewolf, none of them show up in Kingdom Hearts. I can kind of understand the PS2 games but if Kingdom Hearts 3 continues with these empty Disney worlds devoid of any of the background characters from these Disney films only sticking with the more recognizable main casts, I'll be very disappointed.

TBH, while I haven't played Kingdom Hearts 1 and therefore have no idea on my opinion with worlds, I f**king hate Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, I mean seriously, what is this!? We've got a world filled with water. Enemies that swim, and Sora is f**king WALKING! WHAT!? What made this more annoying is the fact that the enemies could swim and that would mean that they are pretty much flying enemies, and, knowing this game's combat system, just makes it a whole lot worse.

i agree with a lot of the points made in this video, but, i also believe that a point of playing a game is exploring, discovering, and getting lost. being told how to play a game in the game, or told what to do all the time takes away from half the fun of the game..
@murderousroomba85699 жыл бұрын
100 Acer Woods was my least favorite. Each place you go in there is just so small and most if them have nothing in them. Honestly it had nothing to deal with the story.
@WriterKing929 жыл бұрын
My least favorite worlds in KH: 5) Monstro (Kingdom Hearts 1, came out of nowhere and the boss just annoyed me) 4) Hundred Acre Wood (Chain of Memories, as it was just one long escort mission) 3) Neverland (Kingdom Hearts 1, too short) 2) Wonderland (Chain of Memories, lacked KH1's charm) 1) Atlantica (Kingdom Hearts 2… I didn't mind it in Kingdom Hearts 1, but the singing mini-games made no sense and the world took way too long to complete).

Atlantica Is like literally fucking impossible for first time players. How the fuck are you supposed to know to grab on to some random Dolphin, let go of it, go to another area, have it randomly appear again, and then grab it again to take you to a new area. The game literally never mentions anything about it at all, and you are given no direction whatsoever as to what to do. Seriously, fuck that world

I think to make the game better, when you pause it, you should be able to see your goal for this point, and where you need to go to accomplish it. So that you don't get all lost like I did.
