dragongirl66 Well Sakamoto doesn't consider them canon because he doesn't want the Prime lore to affect his games. The funniest part is that Other M contradicts pretty much every game in the series, even the ones Sakamoto directed. For example in Fusion, a game directed by Sakamoto, it's directly stated that Samus' suit is purely mechanical and must be removed surgically if Samus herself is knocked unconcious. But then in Other M the complete opposite is true and Samus' armour vanishes whenever he gets hit too hard. Basically Sakamoto's a moron.

I don't understand why Samus is so weak in this game. While wearing the Varia suit, she is rendered unconscious by a single shot form a Galactic federation gun? Is her suit made out of tin foil now? This raises a second question. Why did Adam have to SHOOT Samus? What's wrong with a simple "Halt, soldier!" or "Halt, lady!"
@Gurpwnder11 жыл бұрын
1) Samus' suit is designed to protect her from danger. 2) Samus was investigating an unknown ship. As the greatest bounty hunter, and as someone who has investigated many unknown planets and environments, I find it hard to assume that she was lollygagging off guard. 3) Let's assume that the Galactic Federation gun was really powerful (enough to drain all of Samus' energy tanks in one hit - a feat that enemies and bosses trying to KILL Samus cannot achieve), why would Adam shoot her with that much force? Why would he not just order her to halt?
@PaperFlare11 жыл бұрын
Pedro Burset Jesus Christ, do you hear what you're fucking arguing? "Samus' suit doesn't protect from surprise attacks, and, in fact, drains away completely to any ambush attacks." That's the kind of effect you find on a cursed suit on armor in Dungeons and Dragons, designed to troll the shit out of players, not the equipment of a Bounty Hunter who has fought her way through countless hordes across dozens of planets.

Pedro Burset Then what about Super Metroid, where the baby Metroid was kidnapped right before her eyes? She could take multiple shots to the back in previous games. What about Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, where she had to personally kill her own partners: Ghor, Gandrayda and Rundas? Her suit didn't randomly flicker on / off then either. The problem is, at this point in the Metroid timeline, can we expect Samus to be so emotionally fragile? Hell, instead of listening to me, the Gaming Britt goes over this himself in this very video.
@PaperFlare11 жыл бұрын
Pedro Burset What is the point, o' enlightened one? Let's ignore all the flaws with the game's story. Let's ignore the weird choice of making Samus' suit a hologram that somehow morphs out of the Zero Suit. Let's ignore the fact that a shitty GF standard issue laser pistol is able to take out Chozo tech in one shit. Let's just look at the one scene. Adam, a man that Samus time and time again has proven to be unwaveringly loyal too, despite the fact that he has made decision she disagrees with. She willingly followed his "don't do shit unless I say so," despite the fact that this brought her to harm in a lava filled death-hole because he didn't specify to turn on Varia functions. She has time and time again proven that she trusts him above reason and logic, and would do what he says at the drop of a pin. So what does he do? He shoots her in the back the second she is about to try to do something on her own. At this point, he knows she would stop if he said so. He knows she would stand by if he gave her a direct order. But no. HE FUCKING SHOT HER IN THE BACK. What kind of planet do you live on where such an action is considered okay under ANY circumstance. I don't stop you from burning your fingers on the stove by lopping your hand off - don't worry, we can reattach it later. ~~~~ I would say that this scene proves that Adam is a misogynist, but you know what, it really doesn't. Throughout the entire game, Adam has made the absolute worst possible choices known to man. He splits his team of six individuals up to search, alone, entire sectors to find out what killed EVERY LIVING PERSON ABOARD THE SHIP. When we find out there's a traitor, he continues to let his men continue to search, alone, allowing for the traitor to be more efficient at his deception than if he was forced to work with a teammate. He refuses to allow Samus, the most trustworthy person on the ship, basic freedoms to make her part of the mission more successful, and routinely limits usage of equipment to not only Samus, but his own men, oftentimes endangering the lives of all in the process. He's not a misogynist, he's a fucking idiot who deserves no respect from any human alive, let alone the woman who single handedly took down the Space Pirate threat multiple times, and (almost) killed every Metroid alive. Part of the problem of the game is that we're TOLD what to feel, never shown. We keep getting hammered over the head that Adam is the greatest tactical genius known to man. That he's a nice, kind-hearted person. Not once are we actually shown these traits, and this dissonance is part of what makes this game such a travesty to have to deal with.

The characterization of Samus in Other M was just downright sad, they turned her into a generic anime chick who makes dramatic observations and unrealistic emotional reactions. Though an important point to maintain is that simply having emotions and displaying them is NOT inherently a bad thing, human beings are emotional entities so therefore being completely devoid of them would be dehumanizing. But like GamingBrit pointed out, her emotional breakdowns were completely out of character and unrealistic, Samus would NOT have frozen in fear at the sight of Ridley, especially after battling him before and battling much more disturbing things in the past, and she certainly wouldn't have cringe worthy dialogue you would find in a $5 shoujo manga either.

WHY did they decide to give the marines traditionally-held guns? Anything that could shoot projectiles in Metroid games never use traditionally-held guns... they'd always have an arm cannon or some orifice that could shoot lasers and stuff. That's something that made the Metroid universe a bit more interesting, but now they just went and eliminated that.
@extragirth6410 жыл бұрын
WHY does Samus ride around in a space ship that looks like her face (helmet) yet not have a interesting personality to fit? Instead of choosing the weak-boring-cliche-anime girl personality Sakamoto should have made Samus a quirky almost-insane anime girl personality. However for Metroid, anything anime would have been a terrible idea. My idea is just a (slightly) lesser of two evils.
@extragirth6410 жыл бұрын
***** Why? Is it because you are letting Other M influence your perception of Samus? That was probably the worst depiction of a character that I have ever witnessed. Her ship is obviously a custom design, she made it look like her helmet and that's freaking hilarious. Any idea that you have on what Samus is like is either non-existent or wrong. This is just what I get from the games. You having a problem with it is a pretty good indication that it's a horrible idea to go into Samus' personality traits. Metroid is a video game, we are playing Samus. A video game intruding on what Samus is thinking and feeling is insulting because *we* are playing as that character. Metroid was a successful video game, not a successful manga.

***** Don't you remember the end of the original Metroid? The reveal that there was a woman under the suit, not a guy. That wasn't a sexy reveal, she's messing with us. There's no denying it, this woman has a sense of humor and it defines her more than any other trait people made up for her, i.e., things outside of the video games. I don't know what you are talking about how _"... on paper Samus' characterization doesn't sound all that terrible."_ What was Other M trying to show and how did they fail in executing it? I thought they did a good job at executing a character for Samus that doesn't follow the games in any way.

***** The funny thing is that we never saw Samus be a actual bounty hunter. Retro planned out Metroid Prime 3 to be the game where Samus accepts missions and bounties while travelling to other planets but Sakamoto kept them from making that game. I assumed it would have been too awesome. That's the story of the Metroid Prime games, Retro was never allowed to make even the slightest decision in their games because Sakamoto is a dick who doesn't know what is good for Metroid. Sakamoto doesn't even know what a bounty hunter is and just portrays Samus as a super hero. _"No, Samus doesn't do things for money. She's not a whore."_ What a f*cking idiot. Thank god he doesn't work on Metroid anymore. Yes I am aware the developers were messing with us at the end of Metroid but they did it through Samus. The Metroid that died in Super was legitimately a sad moment, especially after she was saved by it from Mother Brain. Except did she cry? Did she break down emotionally? Was she ever, at one point, psychologically scarred from it? No, she got right up, and fucking REKT Mother Brain, no ands, ifs, or buts. And as soon as you fuck THAT up, you've fucked up the entire rest of her character and the entire rest of the game, because if you can't get THAT basic fact of her character down, you won't get anything else down.
@wizkidextrordinare9 жыл бұрын
Anthony Serocco The things is that we don't know what Samus was feeling and we don't know how she felt afterward.The original creator of MEtroid made Other M so you can tell he always wanted Samus' story to be tragic and heart breaking to her. The way you make it out to be Samus might as well be an emotionless robot. She had emotion as in she felt bad for the baby metroid and allowed it to live.
@Keanotix9 жыл бұрын
Johnny Vulture The thing is, we DO know how she feels at that point, because YOU feel what she feels at that point. And unless you are emotionaly dead, you feel sadness, anger, and shortly after you get to act out righteous fury. Its an epic moment that is better conveyed in one sequence. The problem here is that the creator underestimated the power of conveyance. And Team Ninja has never had to do narrative in that style either. Do we know how she was afterwards? Yes, a sense of accomplishment but a tang of regret. But this implied emotional trauma is overplayed for the sake of a poor narrative. Frankly if she got emotionally scarred by that then she would have went doolally from half the other horrible creatures she has fought over the years (even if you DONT count Prime), I mean, SR388 man. (which they never bother to mention btw).
@wizkidextrordinare9 жыл бұрын
Keanotix You make it seem as if it has to be conveyed in a subtle way rather than do like what other m did and try to centralize the emotions in a way that they are 100% understood. Don't give me that bull shit, when you see Mario kill bowser what is conveyed, nothing because the sprite totally lacks emotion. The same way when Link completes a task or a boss we don't what he feels or what he's thinking, we can assume but you will never know. In windwaker we get an idea of how link feels because his face is so expressive, but in Metroid their is no way anyone can know what samus is thinking because she's wearing a helmet which means her facial expressions are non existent. Now I mentioned how stone faced Link is in ocarina of time and how we really don't know how he feels in the game because his face is so stiff. We can assume that Link is a stone cold killer and straight badass because his face is always so calm even when he's near death. Until we got Gamecube era zelda games we start to see link show exhaustion and fear in his face indicating that Link has always been a character full of emotion and fears and he shows relief and has care in his eyes, but we couldn't see that because the sprites are so unexpressive and so where the 3D models in the 64 era where link only had 3 facial expressions mapped to his textures. So we can see Link was always meant to be a character that is fully expressive. We can assume Samus was supposed to be the same way, having fear, knowing love and companionship. Like in super metroid when Samus fights mother brain she litterally falls down on the ground and starts shaking before she is saved by the baby metroid as she is taking her final breathes, she has just realized she is beat and can't go on and she trembles as she come to the conclusion that she is about to die, and I say this because the sprite animation is only present for that scene. WE can see Samus as not a hyper badass character that would fight to the end but one with flaws and fears, samus literally stops and just stares at the mother brain even after the metroid comes in to save Samus she's still in shock from coming so close to losing her life. Go watch the end of Super Metroid it's actually powerful how human Samus is, once the metroid is killed samus goes into rage mode and beasts the mother brain. In fusion samus shows fear in the SA-X as everytime you meet it you have to run like hell to get away from it. The original creator always wanted Samus to have fears and stress she even monologues a little about it in fusion. Prime is the series that made samus into a stale robot of a personality.
@Keanotix9 жыл бұрын
1. Zelda on N64 had characters with facial expressions before the Gamecube. 2. Even then emotional responses or feelings can be translated through other means apart from facial expressions. 3. Running from the SA-X wasnt because she was simply scared, it was trying to kill her. Any battle-hardened warrior would flee from a stronger enemy unless they had a death wish. 4. Samus falls to mother brain because she got blasted by a big fucking energy beam over and over again. She's was dying. That wasnt out of fear. The first time you are blasted you can bash buttons to try getting back up. An action you participate in, determined not to lose or at least not die on your knees. Thats emotional response through action right there. Do we need a speech bubble to explain that better? No, it's pretty easy to read. Basically if you need monologue to explain to you how a character is feeling then metroid is so not the series you should be aiming for. If any world building or character building can only be done through monologue and text dumps then I'm sorry, but ya done goofed on your design for a game. By all means, explain the finer details, but dont just explain EVERYTHING. Metroid is about exploration and discovery in a hostile enviroment. Prime does this way better than Other M. It also shows better and more consistent emotional responses from Samus than Other M wishes it did.
@wizkidextrordinare9 жыл бұрын
Keanotix 1. Link had a blank stare expression, a surprised expression, an angry expression and a hurt expression. That's it. 2. There are no ques from Samus on how she feels except sprite animations. 3. No at first Samus is told that she must stay away from the SA-X because it has ice powers which will harm her. The SA-X does not kill Samus because it needs Samus to open up the locks so it can destroy the Metroids. SA-X is using Samus. What happens once all the locks are opened? SA-X finally starts hunting Samus and your only option is to flee, Samus is reduced to a a small animal while the SA-X is the predator. Samus actually never defeats the SA-X and is reduced to near death yet again and need assistance from a biological entity. The only reason Samus is alive is because the SA-X was using her the entire time. The SA-X needs to defeat the evolved Metroid so it fuses with Samus in order to do this. Samus even shows regret that her and the federation will most likely come to battle because she can't condone what they did on that base. All the while the main thing that keeps Samus moving is what? Adam Malcovich. She's relying on him to help her move forward, do you want to know why, because Samus has never faced that threat before, the space pirates Samus fought prior with the help of the federation. She had security in fighting them because she has done it before and she was raised on planet Zebes. That is where her strength comes from, in confidence in her knowledge of her enemy and her surroundings. 4. Samus is literally shaking and that moment is the only moment where that sprite is used except when Samus is about to be killed by the baby Metroid and it decides to let her live. Why have Samus shake in desperation, if she was on the brink of death why not just make her collapse and have the Metroid revive her? They wanted to show Samus' helplessness, she is fully conscious of her impending doom. If she has enough strength to breathe and hold herself up she should have enough energy to keep fighting but she doesn't. You say the game allows you to get back up, so the game mechanics allow you to participate so we must take this into account. The games mechanics allows you to move perfectly fine at low energy, but when you are fighting mother brain Samus stops moving when she drops to about 50% of her last health bar. All throughout the game we can play with Samus below 50% of the health bar perfectly fine without Samus falling to the ground and needing assistance from the player to get up. It's because Samus has realized she's running out of energy and one more hit from the blast is going to kill her and there is nothing she can do to stop it. Why else would Samus drop to her knees at that low of percentage when she is never seen to do this in the entire game until that point, and why else would they make a specific sprite for that moment? The most important thing to take away from this is that Samus doesn't kill mother brain at the end because of the mission she does it because of the last attempt of the Metroid to save her and that final cry it gave that stops all sound so you can focus on the sound of the Metroid dying. I'm not saying we need narrative to convey the story but if people misconstrue the Metroid story like you have than maybe we do.

Stuck in an abandoned research station where various horrors are now causing all kinds of hell. A supposedly elite team being easily split up and torn to shreds. An unknown traitor in the squad..and since Wesker in Resident Evil was the captain, I was almost looking forward to killing the bastard myself. The game had already shown it didn't give a damn about continuity, and it felt reasonably built up..and instead, I'm supposed to care that he's going to sacrifice himself? No! I wanted to shove that cannon down his throat and blow a massive load of explosives all over his insides, leaving him rather fragmented after. Sorry about the long comment..was introduced to the Metroid series via Prime, looked into all the previous games after that, was pretty hyped by Other M, and really, really wanted to find some good points, something to say that Nintendo wouldn't just abandon one of the greatest female characters in gaming history. It's really weird how Nintendo treats the Prime Trilogy. I already noticed in Super Smash Bros. Brawl that they didn't change anything about Samus' design or moveset. They would have had a huge pool of new attacks or at least new beams to choose from, but instead they went with the exact same Samus they used in Melee and that one was still based on her Super Metroid appearance. By the time Brawl was released, they could have implemented stuff from at least two Prime games, but all they did was mention the "Holy Trinity" in a few trophies and stickers. And now with the new Smash Bros. around the corner, what are they doing? Using Samus' Other M design (which I've never liked cause her suit looks like large chunky pieces of plastic that a cosplayer would wear). I don't understand why they're doing this, Other M definitely was the odd one out and yet they prefer its legacy over the universally loved Prime series'. They kinda did the same thing with Fox in the Smash Bros. series by completely ignoring Star Fox Adventures, but I thought that was cause the game didn't sell enough units and cause it wasn't loved as much as SF64 for example. Other M is the SFAdventures of the Metroid franchise and yet they treat it like the only successor to Super Metroid. The only explanation I have is that the Prime series wasn't "Japanese enough" in Nintendo's eyes, so they actually consider those three games the weird niche titles while Other M with its "every anime ever" story just felt like a better experience to them.
@TwilightWolf03210 жыл бұрын
I get exactly the same feeling. To tell the truth, when Other M was announced, I was kinda happy. I mean, if Retro Studios, an American Developer Studio managed to make the Prime Series as good as it was, then imagine what the Japanese company, Nintendo itself can do! I used to think the Prime games would never reach the level of the next Metroid title, specially because they're too linear and prevent you from sequence breaking without glitches. I never knew how wrong I was... Metroid is all about finding secret and hidden areas to gather more power-ups, but Other M's Hard Mode completely bashes that tradition, eliminating every single power up on the game! Nintendo seems to be doing the same as I did, except that they don't have the good sense (or are too prideful) to admit that Other M isn't Metroid. From the start I never liked her Other M outfit, and I was hoping it wouldn't be translate into Smash Bros. for Wii U. And you know what? I never bored much worrying about it, because Nintendo had already shown signs of not changing Samus's Super Metroid style, so I thought we'd just see it once again. But damn, what happened for them to use Other M Samus for Smash Bros.?! They already know we all hated that Samus, the sales show so! It's just old Nintendo being stubborn again. No, Nintendo, no one is going to love your broken fake Samus because you expect us to. Bring back the old Samus we love so much!
@JSone4Design10 жыл бұрын
Hopefully, if enough people demand it, maybe Nintendo will make Samus' Prime Trilogy outfits as DLC. I don't care if I'd have to pay money for it, as long as I don't have to play as Other M Samus in Smash Bros. and be reminded of the Metroid franchises' brain fart. I mean, how awesome would it be to select the Phazon Suit from Prime 1, the Light Suit from Prime 2, or the PED suit from Prime 3?
@TwilightWolf03210 жыл бұрын
JSone4Design They should have made those suits the standard for SSB Brawl. I mean, Nintendo treats the Prime Trilogy just like they treat the Virtual Boy - pretend it never happened -, and try to shove Other M down on our throats as if it is the only truth about the series. Some people liked Other M alright, but not enough to make the game profitable - why are they pretending it is?!
@JSone4Design10 жыл бұрын
TwilightWolf032 I don't really know why they're pretending that Other M is popular among the majority of gamers because every place I read about the game is immediately followed by harsh criticism. Maybe the folks at Nintendo truly believe Other M deserves praise. They could be using a narcissistic defense mechanism I read about to brush off the criticisms gamers are throwing at them while going about doing what they want. Hopefully they don't continue down such a self-destructive path for the next Metroid game, and I imagine Metroid fans will be forgiving in giving Nintendo another chance to not repeat the mistakes they made. As for Samus' appearance in Brawl, the designers DID take some elements from the Varia Suit in Metroid Prime, and even included a stage from that game. Nevertheless, Nintendo needs to give the Prime Trilogy more respect than they are letting us see.
@kishinasura150410 жыл бұрын
Nintendo almost always wants to appeal to the japanese market first, and the west market second. Prime games were awesome, but games like that don't sell well in japan. Even things that break records of sales in here like CoD, or critically acclaimed like TLoU, or Bioshock don't sell a shit there. Its the same for the Prime games. However, similar things happen here. Critically acclaimed JRPG like, say, Xenoblade, don't sell a shit in here.

The comments are kind of an echo to what you'll sometimes see in the Star Wars community, with people trying to defend the prequels on an objective level. It's kinda the same here, with people trying to objectively justify all of Other M's shortcomings. Do you enjoy the product? Cool. Are you able to look past its shortcomings? More power to you. Will you still acknowledge said shortcomings? If yes, then congratulations, you're a level-headed human being. Seriously, it's okay to like something. But save yourselves the embarrassment of trying to justify everything it does wrong purely because nobody else is liking it along with you. Clearly, there's a reason why they don't like it.
@CruelestChris9 жыл бұрын
+Red Ward Yeah, it actually drops most of the stuff in the manga, like here it's said Adam was Samus' only father figure, which ignores both her human father and the male Chozo who raised her after his death. Plus the trauma thing was a plot arc that concluded in the manga with her overcoming it and growing stronger, so it effectively just undoes those events for no reason. Also, it's *really* stupid to require people read an obscure, low-circulation comic book to understand what the hell is going on if your stated goal is to introduce new players, nevermind requiring they also selectively ignore it.

Being stuck to eight directions bugged me for the longest time, which is more the Wiimote's fault, but I think they could've worked a Nunchuck in the controls and not have it effect anything. Going from 1st Person to 3rd Person is clunky and only necessary for searching and shooting things when the auto-aim doesn't seem to care. Oh, and screw jumping on enemies. Detection was off for me half the time. Way to go (not to you, the game). That's just me, though.

I can honestly say this is the worst game I have ever played, that isn't a buggy broken mess. Yes, I have seen "worse" games...things that are either blatantly unfinished, or shitty asset flips, things like that. But this is the worst "complete" game by far. It makes Mighty No 9 look like a masterpiece. It makes Sonic 06 look like a masterpiece (to be fair Sonic 06 has some of the "so bad it's good" thing going on). Even Big Rigs is better than this trash (it's really bad, but it's fun in its badness, and there are so many neat things you can do like drive a truck at 12.3 undecillion mph in reverse). "So bad it's good" can make even a terrible game fun. This game doesn't have any of that, it is just irredeemably bad. That said, I do have to give it a 2/10 instead of 1/10. The fact that the graphics are (mostly) decent by Wii standards and it runs at 60fps gives it that one point. I agree with the Last Jedi point too, that was an absolutely terrible movie, great special effects but terrible everything else.

Nope, the last jedi is actually the most unique of the """sequel""" trilogy. I'd say this is the rise of skywalker of the series, since it actively harms both the new elements it introduces, while also doing the most shameless retcons and cameos of the old elements (somehow palpatine returned)

I even made a better death scenario of killing commander malcovich. first: adam and samus go into sector zero TOGETHER. they find the place where the metroids are propigated. the duo then begin blasting and shoot metroids with a weapon found in sector zero that can kill a metroid without freezing it. a boss battle later against the queen metroid and adam pushes samus out of the way of a metroid in the zeta(?) phase of its evolution. since metroids have faster life energy consumption rates in superior forms to that of infant forms, adam dies in literally a few seconds, leaving behind an empty husk. samus then kills the zeta metroid, which is the last one alive and then moves on to room MW, where madeline burgman is found and samus fights and defeats ridley. after that, is the part where the game ends where you kill phantoon and escape the bottle ship before it explodes.

Okay, thats fine. I also think the time Adam and Samus spent in sector 0 should be used to let the interact and FINALLY establish the father-daughter relationship between them. Adam needs to talk about the loss of his brother. Samus might need to share her pain about losing Rundas and the others in Prme 3. Maybe Adam got hurt in a fight in Sector 0 and the both need to settle down and have an emotional moment, talking abot their past and their future. You know things a family talks about. Du to that injury Adam can not parcitipate in the fight against Ridley. So he can show up, ignoring his agonising pain, to save Samus last moment when Ridley is about to shred her into pieces.

The whole Ridley PTSD attack was just an attempt to recreate the PTSD attack she had in the manga. Except it made sense in the manga since A) Samus was 14 at the time B) It was her first time seeing Ridley since he killed her parents age 3 C) Lots of other shit was going down at the time, I don't want to meet the guy who goes through the shit she went through and doesn't have any problems And a big part of the Manga's conclusion was her getting over this and learning to better deal with this fear and spend the rest of the series murdering Ridley Honestly it's best handled in Ridley's reveal trailer for Super Smash Bros Ultimate; Samus's subtle movements betray that she is still scared of Ridley (which is fair, he's the catalyst for nearly everything bad that ever happened to her and seems to keep coming back no matter how often she kills him), but she keeps things under control and charges in head on- as you would expect from a hardened bounty hunter. From what I can tell, Other M really just wanted to do the same thing the manga did, but treated adult Samus as if she was still the 14-year-old newbie she was back then

A lot of your points are pretty great, but you dropped the ball on (atleast) two big points : 1. PTSD doesn't work the way you think, and samus her PTSD has been canon ever since the OFFICIAL metroid backstory manga, YEARS before Other M You don't just "get over" PTSD, you might learn to control it better, but a sudden trigger (especially on a time you are emotionally weak) can still have them happen. EX : My grandfather's uncle got PTSD from the war, this made him especially afraid of gunsounds Now despite this, he did actually go to places there would be gunsounds (his family was part of a shooting club), as he was able to sort of "brush it off" when he was EXPECTING THEM to happen, and was thus PREPARED for them. However when a sudden loud bang sounded like gunshots he tended to get big PTSD attacks. Your idea of "creature only working on instict" for the metroids is also pretty flawed, many humans get emotionally attached to animals that are also just simply following basic social instincts. And the major reason Samus became "intrigued/attached" to the metroid is exactly BECAUSE she thought it were mindless killers, but the fact the baby metroid bonded to her, and even sacrificed its life, proved to her that they aren't just soulless creatures that suck stuff to dust all the time. THIS REALIZATION is exactly one of the things Samus would have had trouble with, as she commited GENOCIDE on them, cause she thought they "deserved" it (something which actually comes back to bite her in the butt in fusion) You also can't compare the deaths of the other hunters with "losing friends and family" She had never even MET the other three hunters, and we do see she is saddened by their deaths. 2. And secondly : "the deleter was supposed to kill Samus" this is just outright a BAD observation on your part, which I guess is cause you probably weren't really paying attention this far into the game/video making. The deleter DID NOT KNOW, samus was gonna show up. The idea was that Adam's team was to check the bottleship, and if it turned out the bottleship was in an unsaveable state and the secrets of what was being done there were to come out, he had to kill Adam and team, and anyone else there, SAMUS HER (whiny) SELF even MENTIONS that her appearance must have been a detriment to the deleter. Also, you seem to be under the TOTAL misconception, that the bottleship was done by the federation, which it was NOT, it was done by a rouge research group, which was being unofficially, and illegally funded by select members of the federation. This is the equivelant of some high ranking guy on the national board of armystuff (official terms) suddenly starting the weaponization of the black plague, behind the backs of the government, then when something goes wrong inside his facility and the government sends troops to find out what was going on, he is able to PULL THE STRINGS to insert one of "his guys" into their ranks. THAT is what happened.
@bmombaerts10 жыл бұрын
Very true, i actually replayed the game some time ago, and I also noticed she barely actually mentions the words "the baby", if anything, she seems to overuse "Adam" a lot more very true on your other points to, but there lies the illogical reasoning of the Other M circlejerk. when the other metroid games do something, it is ok, but when other M does it, it isn't... For example : people complain about "being forbidden to use her weapons is a stupid, illogical way to lose access to her power" meanwhile, prime makes the most advanced piece of technology use its upgrade, both hard and software, from an explosion... like... for real ? the suit can withstand explosions that would evaporate living tissue, but a minor electrical explosion makes it malfunction that hard ? I thought the chozo were ADVANCED!

Here are a few points to keep in mind before you start chewing on your keyboards: Yeah TGB's angry, but his points aren't based on emotions, they're based on facts. Lack of exploration, lack of power-ups, illogical character decisions, the metacritic score, the game's now being priced under $10, the disturbing lack of Metroid since 20flipping10- all facts! Quietly love your Other M. Like the games that you like, but don't fight against logic and good reasoning skills.
@AlaLoupeQC9 жыл бұрын
They probably didn't play better games in fact... ;-) Oh and the technical performance of this game is bullshot... absolutely crap, on par with licensed games... No sorry, this is on par with that kind of game! And saying that for a "Metroid" game is insane when you think about it.
@elsujetoese23779 жыл бұрын
I've played the Prime series and super metroid and i can say that Other M is a good game. I agree that it doesnt have as much exploration as the others, but hey!, now you dont have to fuckin' scan every single particle in the game to get a little story. Illogical character decisions?. Other M was a great first step for giving samus a personality; the fact that in the prime series the programmers didnt bothered to add voice acting or even dialog at all doesn't mean that samus is an emotionless person, or what?, are you gonna say that based on the games Samus has to be mute? I love the Prime series and they're actually my favorite games, but i gotta say thta Other M was a pretty good attempt at refreshing the franchise.
@AlaLoupeQC9 жыл бұрын
ElSujetoEse Difference between being well-acted and being muted. Samus in Prime had emotions btw. They were yours. A character is defined by what it does. What is Samus accomplishing in Other M? Yeah, talk about player's agency... something that modern developers don't give a fuck because "artistic vision". Say what you want about Other M but it's an artifact that could have been released on the N fucking 64!
@elsujetoese23779 жыл бұрын
Alexandre Armont well acted?, that's like saying that the Link from A Link to the past had superb personality; one thing is having an influence over your character (by customizing him, or making decisions in the game that alter the story) and other thing is just imagining that you're the character (which seems a pretty lazy decision from the programmers to me actually). And why do you care so much in accomplishing something?, the most enjoyable thing in a game is its gameplay, i dont care if i was only saving a princess from a turtle (Super Mario Bros.), i had fun playing the game.
@AlaLoupeQC9 жыл бұрын
ElSujetoEse Haha! That's so beautiful! You don't even understand what actual accomplishment is! Facing a challenge is something you don't do in Other M because the difficulty is fucking zero! Why is Samus Aran a superhero for people, especially women? Despite the fact that she has faced the death of her parents (something never explained or shown in this piece of crap which mean zero characterization), she still goes on and fight for the freedom of the universe even if she's a bounty hunter! She did her job for free in Echoes, did you forget? Sorry but facing big monsters in strategic boss fights and being rewarded is something you won't understand because YOU give a shit about the most useless thing in a game: the story! Go read a book or watch a movie! Games are about you interacting with the world! It's you facing the challenge to reach the goal! In Super Mario, I don't care about saving the princess. I care about the design and the difficulty that the game is supposed to provide for me to reach the goal! Don't compare platforming games with action games! Link from A Link to the Past... was you! You had the choice of going through the game and discover the world on your own. In Other M, it's all exposed to you, everything is told to you! Maybe you should learn about actual game design...

+dragongirl66 the issues are much deeper than "no Samus". Obviously that's a bummer. But it's the 30th anniversary of the Metroid series. We're getting a dinky 3ds game that looks mediocre from a graphics standpoint, has no real storyline based on the information they've revealed, and is a disappointment overall considering the last game we got was other m which is renowned for not being popular and the black sheep of the series. Nintendo refuses to listen to its fans when it comes to Metroid and many other series. In the past decade, we've gotten 2 games and only one of them was considered good by fans and reviewers. Hate is a strong word for the game yea, but it's after years of disappointment and lack of delivery. If Federation force was a quick project among other great games no one would bat an eye. But thousands if not millions love Samus and the metroid series and Nintendo treats it like a side project.
@eclipse._xiv8 жыл бұрын
Patches4000 Federation Force is not an ideal game, I will definitely give you that. However, Mr. Tanabe has said that it is setting up the Federation's role in the story for future installments, so all those things about this game ruining the series is false. It's sad that Metroid is being neglected the way it is, but at least Federation Force proves that the series isn't dead.
@Patches40008 жыл бұрын
dragongirl66 Oh I don't stand by the idea of this game ruining the series. I think that is an overstatement. Metroid's foundation is too strong for this to ruin it. It is just hard to be hopeful and grateful, as I've said before, due to the disappointments in the past and the lack of love for a very vintage, prestigious series. And the fact that they are making a new game in general does make me happy, but I do wish that the game following this one will be a game worthy of the Metroid name.

Crap like that has no place to be in modern gaming, specially when it's as BS as the older Metroids. An I in favor of exploration? Yes. Am I in favor of cryptic bullshit? No. A MINIMAL sense of direction should be given to the player, BUT IT SHOULD BE THERE. Kinda like Zero Mission. "You see, your next destination is this place on the map. Now, figure yourself out your way to that place." Hand holding sucks, yes. But, "fuck it, you have no clue what to do next" isn't the solution either. That's why the older Metroids and the first Zelda game are regarded as archaic nowadays.
@VladNorris10 жыл бұрын
***** No, it didn't. They fixed a lot of the problems with the original game in the remake(physics, controls, to name a few). You being nostalgia biased is a different story. And yes, the older games are pretty much BS. Being let to aimlessly find your way through it's a sign of BAD, yes, BAD game design. Most of the time is outright player hostile as they punish the player for things that aren't their fault. A good game gives the player a sense of direction even if minimal. Zero Mission is better because it does that while still allowing crazy free roaming.

I may want to power myself up as much as possible before taking on the likely boss at the destination. Other M confines the player to a linear path only to help a poorly written story.

I didn't even know Metroid had a manga lol. I only played the games and loved the character Samus in general. I don't really like how Samus is portrayed in the manga. She's a bit too stereotypical for my taste. Freezing up and getting scared more often than a soldier with her training really should. I always saw Samus as a female counter-part to Master Chief (yes, I know she was first. It's just a comparison). I always saw her as a strong silent warrior.
@danielmunoz12753 жыл бұрын
I like the Samus in the manga, because it's her origin story. I think it would be unrealistic to have a character who has always been the same way all their life. Making Samus vulnerable and emotional is not bad, if done correctly. Other M does it bad, because it forces it. As stated in the video, it makes no sense for Samus to be that vulnerable after all the sh1t she's been through now. Yes, seeing Adam again, and having the baby Metroid killed would've worked for emotional weakness, but Other M over exaggerates this emotional weakness to make cheap drama. The way I would fix Adam's sacrifice, would be to him telling Samus "Do not enter to that sector, the Metroids there have been enhanced", then Samus would tell Adams that due to these Metroids resistance to cold, there would be no warranty that they'd die if he sent out the sector into space. Samus wouldn't listen to Adam and then go to the sector to kill the Metroids herself. The rest is easy, this could've the first miscalculated decision that we players would see Samus do. The Metroids would've overwhelmed her, and right before a Metroid was about to finish her . . . boom! Adam arrives and gets the Metroids off Samus by shooting them, shifting their attention to Adam, he tricks them by evading, and gets them trapped within a room, though it seems they're starting to break it. Adam rushes to Samus who is weak due to the Metroids' attack, Adam gets her out of the sector, but the Metroids are closing in, just in time he gets her out when the entrance closes, because right before coming to Samus's rescue he activated the launch system for the sector. Samus screams just like in the original scene, and Adam says goodbye with his line "any objections, lady?" In my version Adam doesn't die, because there should be a noble sacrifice, he does because he cared for Samus, and came to her help, he just didn't reach the entrance of the sector in time to save himself too.

@AlaLoupeQC10 жыл бұрын
There's something not mentioned in the two videos and I don't know if anybody knowing the Metroid franchise has observed that detail about Ridley at the end of Other M. Everyone says his presence in Fusion makes sense. At first, it does but technically... it doesn't. I don't think the X would actually copy (and kill) a frozen Ridley being already dead, having no vital energies because he has been attacked by a fucking Queen Metroid. Ridley was just a pile of dust at the end and, in Fusion, his body was "resurrected". The X always attacks a living form like Samus, the crew members, Serris, Nightmare or any creatures found on the B.S.L. being specimens from Zebes or SR388. Sure Ridley is no longer on the ship making you believe that the Galactic Federation has just taken his body but how can you pick up "dust" when Samus destroys it in a single shot like Super Metroid or Prime 3: Corruption? Just opening a door makes the dust falling apart. I know it's a small detail but in the franchise, it's a serious mistake. Sakamoto fucks up again!
@AlaLoupeQC10 жыл бұрын
***** Did you play Metroid Fusion? Ridley is alive, I agree... BUT he's dead once the X gets him. Best proof? Samus was given a minimal chance of surviving. It's like a Chestburster leaving the host.
@AlaLoupeQC10 жыл бұрын
Actually, we do. The eye is the best sign we've got. Just like Super Metroid btw (or Metroid Prime 3). I do agree about something in Other M: if nobody has the technology to destroy the Metroids, they can't be allowed to exist. My guess is the Chozo knew a Metroid rampage would happen so they made sure they could be stopped by giving them a single weakness. I still find it odd that people are still trying to find weird explanations when they defend Other M. Ridley wasn't the worst part... The ending was.
@TwilightWolf03210 жыл бұрын
You're right! Everything a Metroid drains life from dies. I doubt Ridley had strength left to fend off the Metroid Queen, or that the Metroid would leave its prey for any reason. Even if it did happen and the Queen left the room with Ridley alive, he would've died from the wounds (as he was actually dead when we find him). In other words, no prey for the Xs... Other M manages to screw things that happened before and after it... incredible...
@kishinasura150410 жыл бұрын
Those kind of plotholes can be easily filled by resorting to fiction-science. Cloning, or that the X can replicate an entire individual just by accesing their DNA or something among those lines. Those kind of things are irrelevant. Taking away the Prime games from the continuity, that's blasfemy.
@AlaLoupeQC10 жыл бұрын
Nate River The creature has to be alive before the X copies the DNA. Still, it trivializes the X from Fusion. Maybe they did even more clones but it doesn't make any sense because Samus would notice the problen already IN Fusion.

The only emotion we ever needed from Samus was at the end of Metroid 2. The Metroid hatches, with no hostility towards Samus, mistaking her for it's mother. Samus sees it, preparing to shoot it, but doesn't, not because she feels some motherly bond, but because she knows that it could be used for the good of civilization, and that is risk worth taking to her. She acted based on what she thought was right, and that's it. But then Other M turned it into her feeling some motherly bond? That makes no sense, she only knew it for like an hour before dropping it off at a random space station.

@TwilightWolf03210 жыл бұрын
After better analyzing a few things, I realized you've made a huge mistake on your video. On Adam's death part, you shouldn't have gone with the "what's if"s (jumping out from a window, bombing the station from the outside). Instead we should be asking "why not let the player experience it?". Just think about that: it's a game, not a movie (although sold as a game, more than half of it is a movie, so it's rather confusing). Instead of just having someone jump out of nowhere telling you "the Metroids there are invincible, let me blow up with them instead", we should have been given the chance to experience that. How so? BY LETTING US INTO THAT DAMN SECTOR ZERO!! Imagine this: you're running towards the Sector Zero; you know there are Metroids there; you have your Ice Beam - a Metroid's only weakness - ready; you find a Metroid; you shot it with the Ice Beam. You won, right? Well, the Metroid is unscathed, runs towards you and starts draining your life. You manage to Morph Ball and Bomb your way out of there, but for some reason your Ice Beam doesn't work on this particular Metroid. After losing almost all of your Energy Tanks, a cutscene kicks in leading you to run away from that battle. You imagine you'll find an answer for your problem by exploring the Sector, but instead you find a nest/laboratory full of genetically modified Metroids. They all start chasing you, and your only choice is run away. When you finally get off from Sector Zero, you've received so much damage that the Power Suit itself has become unstable, and part of the damage has already passed down to Samus, leaving her weak and almost unconscious. With the door leading to the Sector closed behind her, there's but one Metroid yet in a larval stage outside, but Samus is too weak to fight, quickly losing consciousness. As she faints and the Power Suit vanishes from the damage received, a shot of Ice Beam comes flying through the room freezing the infant parasite. Samus wakes up by Adam's side, seeing how he made some quick first aid procedures to save her, he updates her as to why those Metroids are invulnerable to cold and gives your final mission before going through the door and activating the self destruction sequence for that part of the station while the Power Suit finishes recovering up as well. See? That's how a game should work. Instead of having someone tell you things are like that, you actually manage to experience all of this. And by doing that you make Adam's death reasonable and honorable, instead of making it look like a stupid decision based on rumors. You actually saw how those Metroids have overcome their only weakness, and how horrifying that may be. You know you don't stand a chance against them, so you have to take whatever small chances you have against them - in this case, blowing up the Sector Zero. You understand that what Adam is doing is giving up his life instead of letting Samus run the risk by doing so - he knows her very well, he knows she would do it if she had the chance. We now know Adam cares for Samus, and whatever happened between them in the past has now been forgiven, and he also trusts her enough to accomplish the rest of the mission! And above all, Adam's death wasn't just the result of an anti-climax cutscene, but a proper climax for the story! But it is understandable that you would approach that "This Seems Like a Good Place to Die" scene the way you did. The game itself tries to pass by a movie instead of a game for 2 hours or more, of course you'd make the mistake of criticizing its plot based on movie logic - we all did that.
@TwilightWolf03210 жыл бұрын
Homura Hino Maybe I wasn't clear on that, but what I wrote there is just an alternative on how the scene could've been. You know, instead of playing a cutscene telling us those Metroids are invincible, let us experience that, se those mythical unfreezable Metroids for ourselves on a GAMEPLAY SEGMENT, and not cutscene. Then we could believe what Adam told us about it being freezable because it was at a larval stage (and realize that in my version Samus didn't get shot by Adam, making him less scumbag). I'm just giving an example at how the game should've handled all of its plots.

Interestingly enough Metroid Prime 3 also puts the morality of the Galactic Federation in question in many ways. The phazon gfed troopers use in their weapons was collected from planet Aether, planet Bryyo is where they collect fuel for their fleet which is why it was targeted by Dark Samus to be impacted with a Phazon seed. Both planets are inhabited by their respective cultures. So why does the federation think it´s okay to exploit the natural resources from foreign sovereign planets? When Samus and the other hunters go into a coma, they don´t try to cure their phazon sickness, they weaponize it, without their consent and at the expense of their health. Why is the federation hiring mercenaries in the first place? are the missions Samus takes really that dangerous that a group of a few hundred soldiers can´t fulfill them, or is it because mercenaries don´t have to follow some kind of "geneva conventions"? How many times do Samus´ missions end with something being blown up again? If there is some kind of "geneva conventions" in the Metroid universe, does any of the weapons Samus uses in the games fit within it?
@yuchun_3 ай бұрын
That's the one thing that's arguable with his take on the "plot device." The other metroid games already define the GF as a morally dubious organization, with Fusion already using the exact same twist of reproducing metroids far more effectively. Other M is literally so bad it just repeats fusion but at the same time requires games to be deleted off the timeline to be cohesive. It's the worst kind of retcon, and I'm irritated by how it's never been officially disowned, like how they TRIED to disown the Prime series.
@HolyknightVader9998 жыл бұрын
If I were to make Samus go PTSD while facing Ridley, it would not be her getting scared. Instead, she'd scream a mighty war cry and be consumed with rage, especially when Ridley seemingly kills Anthony. Kind of like Arcee from Transformers Prime whenever the names of Airachnid or Cliffjumper gets mentioned. Samus goes berserk and during the fight, her beserker mode gives her greater speed and strength. Once the actual boss fight gets won, Samus mutters something about sending Ridley back to hell, whereareas General Adam would butt in and try to get Samus to capture Ridley alive, so they can interrogate him and see what he knows about the whole fiasco. Samus disagrees and wants to kill Ridley, and the player gets to choose: eviscerate Ridley now and remain in the dark about what's going on, or spare him and find out a bit more about the real menace of the space station, only for Ridley to escape so you can fight him again later. You can have Samus be emotional when facing Ridley, but doing it the right way is what counts. Instead of her being fearful, I'd have her be as hate-filled as Anakin in Episode III's final battle.

Yeah i mean because no videogame characters should have feelings they should be emotionless ALWAYS....what about link he has feelings he is also a hero what about DK he is sort of a hero and has feelings what about mario he has feelings but nobody complains about them (not saying i hate them i love them)

So, how do you feel about Metroid Prime: Federation Force?
@jennytalia67249 жыл бұрын
Terra-Player I feel we've made a huge mistake by thinking that Nintendo responds well to criticism. We are treating them as if they're a dev on Steam or something and it's caused a backlash that no one expected.

Been a while... time for more... What's worse is that it comes from Nintendo and is supposed to be a top-quality product! We EXPECT top quality products from this damn company! It can't be "defended" because it's the work of Team Ninja but Nintendo pushed the crap out of it and was directly involved with this one unlike Metroid Prime 3 despite the AMAZING pre-launch campaign and it was so beautiful to get one new trailer per week with details about the story, characters, setups... DAMN, I miss 2007... At the time, Other M didn't exist, everyone was happy because Metroid was MORE relevant than anything else from Nintendo... more so than Zelda, Mario, Pokémon... Because it was just top-notch... Because Metroid always created a new standard and stood up against the numerous cliches! Hell, people thought Prime was going to be a copy-paste of Halo but instead, the game kept the formula right on par with Super Metroid despite all the speedruns and tricky jumps that showcased a few design flaws despite the ingenuous work done to it (something that Other M fans to have forgotten while playing the most recent Metroid title). In fact, I don't even think that most Metroid know why the love this fucking franchise and that sickens me! You look at the most recent Nintendo games like Skyward Sword and they always tried to be on par with the demographic... Skyward Sword went into that with the "cinematic" approach and linear experience that is absolutely not what you want from Zelda... same with Other M. Mario? It's more about the art than actual platforming skills until you complete the game which means beating Bowser and see the actual meat of the game... The first time you play a Metroid game, you should be lost and you need to figure out where you have to go by yourself! Other M doesn't do that... for the sake of the abysmal story that doesn't teach anything good! That's the sin: if the story was actually good, I would have accepted it! As a spin-off, I would have accepted it. As a prologue, I would be happy! But it takes place between Super and Fusion and it fucks up the entire franchise by removing EVERY SINGLE GAME FROM THE TIMELINE with small little lines that nobody took notes of! "Everything you see will also appear on this screen" despite the fact that you SHOULD be aware of the fucking Deleter! "It was the first joint mission I have been a part of since I became a freelance bounty hunter" despite the fact that it is your second because Corruption happened or else you should explain exactly why you left instead of what made you "possibly" quit because it's not clear at all. "From someone who dislikes taking orders" because Fusion made it clear that Samus doesn't like receiving orders except from another CO that we could have related to if it was not the same man that completely eradicated Samus's personality from Fusion, a game released 8 years prior. "What's wrong? Head to Sector 1!" because letting the player explore is beyond the ideas of the director who was part of the creation of that fucking franchise! "Adam, thank you" for shooting Samus in the back instead of letting the player the truth because we will never know if there were actual Metroids inside... because you can't create a story based on fucking expositions since you know you will fuck up and leave so many questions unanswered and, worst of all, deny the impact and agency of the player in the entire process, something that was the strongest aspect of the franchise: AGENCY, FREEDOM, EXPLORATION, DISCOVERY, CURIOSITY, KNOWLEDGE, PURPOSE!!! And the worst part? The Bottle Ship explodes after Samus takes the helmet back... despite saying that she will NOT grieve his death! IT IS ALL FOR NOTHING!!! I thought Metroid Prime 3 gave us something clear: destroy the fucking Phazon! What do we do? We blow up the source! Super Metroid? Destroy Mother Brain! What do we do? We destroy Mother Brain and, accidently, blow up Zebes. Metroid Prime 1... find the source of something that the Pirates were experimenting on... What do we do? We confront the source! Metroid Prime 2... find the missing GF Troopers... What do we do? We find the troopers but we end up helping an alien race from a raging war against the same race that killed our friends! And technically, Samus does it for FREE!!! This is way beyond the simple idea of a bounty hunter but it proves that Samus (and the player) is powerful enough to overcome the strongest dangers of the galaxy by simply going at the core of its source... and blow it up thanks to skills and tools at our disposition! I hate Other M because it denies what made Metroid good! Oh and don't tell me I'm making this up: this is the entire franchise in a nutshell and if you are someone who likes the franchise, please take a look at other games inspired by Metroid! You would be amazed! Guacamelee, SteamWorld Dig, Xeodrifter... Damn, those are good games! Even Strider 2014 does a better job than Other M when it comes to freedom and exploration! Why is it not acceptable for Other M to be part of the franchise? Because of everything I just wrote! As a direct entry to the timeline, this game should have pushed the standards or simply reached them but it doesn't. Other narrative games like Batman Arkham or even real action games like Bayonetta or Devil May Cry offer a deeper experience in terms of combat and, fact, you can't do this in Metroid because the game's enhancement system isn't built for that! Sure, tools are there to overcome danger but your skills should be about how you solve puzzle and how you reach certain parts of the world you're given to explore! The true skill tests are the boss battles and, let's all be honest, boss battles are fucking easy in Other M. They're just "fun" to watch but unbearable to play because you need no skills to beat them! Worst: most of them happens after you acquire an upgrade destroying the whole tension... The real sin? The "fuck you" moment with the Power Bomb because each time you get an upgrade since Super Metroid, you're sometimes given a clear explanation on how you use them and since Prime Trilogy, you're given deeper details on what you can do with those items which means that it opens an entire book of ideas on how you can use them in diverse situations! You don't know when the Power Bomb is activated! That is not only illogical but it is a failure of game design! Just like the fucking laser whip in Sonic Boom where it destroys the entire purpose of combat as the Power Bomb destroys the entire purpose of an entire so-called boss battle! Items in Other M are simply there to overcome a small gameplay barrier in the plot and not much else. You're not given the right to go back to other places when it should be a logical moment because the story would be fucked up if you explore... which is why the narrative presented in Other M will never work for Metroid-style games! You're given more freedom in Arkham Asylum despite being story-driven and it was released in 2009!!! Now... tell me if Other M is relevant. Sure you will say that this game is fun but... you can't explain why it is fun because you don't know any better! At the end, this game is a piece of shit on par with many movie-licensed games that have the same design philosophy... and YOU don't like those games because you know they are terrible. Why is it acceptable for Other M? Because it bears the name of a fucking franchise! That's the only reason why you love Other M: there are Metroid elements in it but nothing that makes it relevant or memorable!

Well said. The first Metroid game helped create the metroidvania genre, and Other M throws the franchise's legacy out the window.

I have a question for TheGamingBrit regarding something off topic. How in the world did you get the idea to use a screenshot of Kaiserslautern in your video? (It is shown at 09:59). It's one of Germany's ugliest towns, which I happen to know since I live there. It just really broke my concentration when it popped up. In other words: Kaiserslautern represent, I guess. Faved the video for that gimmick alone. ^^

I think the implication is that by Samus saying Other M is her first joint mission, it disregards Metroid Prime 3, which was a joint mission but takes place before Other M

Sakamoto stated the prime games are not part of canon because he doesn't like what retro did to the series.

+Sckarton Sakamoto can shove it then. The Prime games are far better than Other M's sorry excuse for story. I will admit I like playing other M, but that's for the gameplay(minus the pixel hunts) and NOT the story or character designs. If anything, OTHER M is not canon, and the true timeline is the prime series.
@Sckarton8 жыл бұрын
Akari Enderwolf samus in other m did nothing to advance the story. oh, there's traitor? MB killed him off screen. ridley's came back? huge metroid killed him. section zero that infected by tons of metroids? adam shot samus in the back for no reason and went to destroying to protect the colony. what's that? the colony was destroyed in the end anyway? what a pointless sacrifice. stopping big bad admiral? the token black guy (btw, he's the best and most enjoyable character in the game) stepped in and stopped him. samus did nothing and she needed rescued by everyone. that's what we call it a character assassination and pissing all over the franchise's rich history. now we got federation farce pissing all over prime's achievements and pissing at samus's character. why since 2010 all the old franchise is nothing but pissing at the old franchise and the fandom who kept it alive and then the companies whine about getting piss poor sales?
@emeraldknight34710 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with your review. I believe the nostalgia of Samus comes from her strong independent actions that she previously displayed in her pass games. When something needed to be blown up she would blow it up! The other M showed Samus as someone who doubted her actions. The other M shows Samus regretting she even became a bounty hunter.

I like it too being my first & so far only Metroid game. I liked Samus talking & I loved the way she used sense move, lethal strike, & over blast, especially her lethal strike on Ridley. Other M is my favorite Metroid game right after Samus Returns. Loved her melee counter in that game, too bad I don't have a 3DS for it though, never had one of those or a GameCube.

Other M was my first & is so far my only Metroid game & I loved how Samus used sense move, lethal strike, & over blast. I also liked Samus talking, it was my first time seeing & hearing her talk. And also my last unless she talks in Metroid Prime 4. I also liked how she looked in Other M, Zero Suit Samus looked so hot, hotter than she did in any Smash Bros game or any other Metroid game she'd ever appeared in. Other M is my favorite Metroid game, well it was until Metroid Samus Returns came out, it's now my second favorite.
