Just installed these on my E46 in the vehicle. tools needed : Flat head screwdriver, 10mm socket or ratchet wrench Small hammer. my 2001 330ci did not have the large spring inthe bottom of the pedal. there was only a small spring on the front that can be removed by hand. I then removed the clip for the Pivot of the clutch pedal. Removed the 2 bolts that mount the clutch cyl to the assembly. this also dropped out the plate holding the clutch switches. the cyl does not need to be removed from the pedal. once you have the bolts out everything slides out. you have enough room to remove the old bushings and replace the new ones. i personally could not get enough leverage to just push the new bushings onto the pivot rod so with some light grease and a few taps of a small hammer i could get in there. the clutch pedal went back into place. then i just reversed what i did earlier, bolted the cyl back to the bracket. put the under dash back up. and took it for a test drive. I had no idea just how worn my old stuff was because i bought the car used and ive never owned one before. made the clutch much more snappy.

Thank you for the written explanation!

I had a hard time pushing the bushing on to the pedals due to tight tolerance of the bushings,so I used my porting tool with cone shaped sandpaper to open them up a bit and had to do that a few times because the brake pedal would not disengage and the lights would stay on
@garagistic Жыл бұрын
Fitment should be pretty straight forward as long as the mounting area is clean and nothing is deformed but the tolerance is fairly tight with this bushing in order to reduce play

This is a last ditch effort, I've got an early model E30 (08/84 prod), and I had a one piece bushing come out of my pedals unlike anything I've ever seen. Every pedal bushing for sale, including yours is listed as a late model part, and the one OEM part doesn't fit my car. My car is down until I figure this out so any help would be appreciated.

Hey, I just ran into the same exact problem (one-piece bushing is torn out and the bronze one doesn't fit). How did you resolve your issue?
@coreystrandberg90873 жыл бұрын
@@seunglee1980 I ended up having to buy a new clutch pedal and I dremel'd out the brake pedal bushings until they fit in with some persuasion. Not sure if it was right but I wasn't forking over 200 dollars for a pedal set.

@@coreystrandberg9087 Thanks for the quick reply! I was thinking I’ll probably have to buy a new clutch pedal as well. Did you order a new one and if so, do you happen to have the part number?

Can this be done with the pedal assembly still in the car?
@rat2232 жыл бұрын
also can this be done without needing to bleed your system again? Thanks!

I’ve seen some people pulling the helper spring… do you guys recommend that, or no?

do you know the length of the master cylinder bolts ?

The spring isn't to push the clutch pedal out....
@Schmitzelhaus Жыл бұрын
The E36 pedal has actually 2 springs, the one that brings the pedal back after pushing it and another one that will gradually increase pressure the further you push it in. It also puts tension on the pedal and hides the really bad OEM brackets from BMW. But after changing the brackets to these metal brackets, you don´t need that tension by the 2nd spring anymore and removing it will give you a more precise feedback from the clutch.

Where can I buy a new master cylinder?
@derkm3 жыл бұрын
You can get one from most BMW part suppliers! This includes FCPEuro, ECSTuning, Pelicanparts, etc.

DOES NOT fit late e30 (1990 325) without some modifications, not worth the effort in my car, hoping it goes back together operational

@@garagisticthe bushings fit inside the clutch pedal, small od is perfect for that, but the id is too small for the boss that goes around the main pivot bolt, and they don’t fit into the brake pedal. So to fit clutch pedal boss one must remove some of its od or some of the bushings id, and to fit brake pedal, I’m not really even sure
