We have a similar climate to Arizona in Iraq: our summers are very long and can reach 50C, which is like 122F. However, there are trees that you can plant and forget that give a massive shade, delicious fruits, and healthy leaf for tea like the jujube (ziziphus spina cristi). I definitely recommend it. Mulberries are also common here among many other species. The dates palm is, however, the royalty of all these trees in harsh climates and salty soil.

I am having great luck with Paulownia trees (Royal Empress) here in Arizona. Was told they are the worlds fastest growing "tree" and I believe them. Massive tire size leaves look prehistoric. These things are amazing and I highly recommend trying them out.

@@davidjohn4150 I went to E-Bay and searched "paulownia seeds". Ordered some from Florida. Arrived very quickly. Got the "Elongata" and "Shantong" varieties. Not expensive and got way more than I needed. Threw a handful of seeds in a bowl of water near a window. They all germinated in two weeks. Fished out the seedlings and placed them into peat pellets. Kept them close to a sunny window for a month. Planted them outside as soon as night time low temps exceeded 50 degrees Fahrenheit (April in Phoenix). These things are over 16 feet tall in 6 months. Plant is the best I've ever grown. Wish you luck if you decide to try them.

No water for Moringa trees? Hard to believe. It's beautiful.

If you plant a fruiting mulberry tree, you WILL get many berries. Thousands. It's best planted far, far from your house, in a field, maybe. Even then, you'll find berry juice on your shoes, in your house. And the birds love them, so you'll have purple bird droppings on your car, sidewalk, etc. Lovely tree, but sadly not well suited for a normal yard.

I've tried 3 years now to grow moringa tree and every time the winter comes the baby tree dies. I've even put mulch around it I've put it in a home Depot bucket where I cut the bottom off the home Depot bucket and put it around the tree and then I stuff mulch inside of it to keep its bottom warm and the tree still dies. I wish I had the ability to grow on that meringue the tree just can't

I am having the same bad luck with Moringa here in North Phoenix. These things were a beautiful 15 feet tall last Fall but a couple cool nights in December wiped them out. Wish you better luck this year.

Omg! Sissoo!! I am still battling with the 4 I had to dig out! I love them, but NOT by a house or fence. With new build communities where the houses are stacked on top of each other - STAY AWAY FROM THEM! If you are lucky enough to find an irrigated lot or pre-1990s house then you have more options. Our yards are not graded in a way to make deep watering possible without MAJOR effort and the possible ire of your HOA. Buyer Beware! Lifted our driveway, sidewalks, and tilted our block fence. Our house was constantly popping and creaking. 😮😢😮😢😮
