Actually next video on Patreon is me at MotoGP riding a Ducati Monster that they let me have from some reason haha. Dyno tuning video will be next and will be on Patreon about a week ahead of the public edit. Not trying to pull a fast one or anything haha. Just that the story for that video is still kinda unfolding haha, you'll see. But I wanted to be able to do it right. Also wanted to break up these wrenching videos with some other footage. 9:10 NASA Calculations were carried out using the metric system, but display readouts were in units of feet, feet per second, and nautical miles - units that the Apollo astronauts were accustomed to. So imperial units were just there to complicate things for the sake of "we are used to them" but not actually used to calculate all the physics of getting there. 😜

The fact that the exhaust is such a big weight reduction is pretty amazing..
@MrAmorti2 жыл бұрын
Not really. The new exhaust is going back to technology of decades ago where all you had to do was reduce the dB's a bit, and inhibit sparks from setting the forest alight. Well, I'm assuming they have a spark arrestor in there. Meanwhile the modern exhaust has a catalyst or two in there, double walled tubes because heat insulation and crack prevention, reverberation chambers to actually reduce noise to a sociable level, etc.

You do nice work. I had '13 250L that had full FMF Megabomb header with the Q4 muffler. It did add hp but I hated how loud it was. I recently bought a 300L and love how quiet the exhaust is, but I'm still getting more power and certainly more torque. One thing that made me really dislike the loud exhaust was the use of comms. We started using them a few years ago and it was hard to hear, especially when accelerating. I wish they made a replacement muffler that was the same decibels as stock, but much lighter. I figure I'm probably in the minority on this lol.

Brit here. Japanese bikes will usually have 12mm flats on an m8 bolt and 14mm flats on an m8 nut. There will be exceptions to that. Ordinary metric hardware in UK has 13mm flats on both m8 nuts and m8 bolts. It would be pretty crazy to find a 1/2" head on anything metric. Maybe on some British or American vehicle from around the time metric became standard, and standard became American size.

Why no "power bomb" expansion chamber in the header pipe ? Those supposedly help power on the bottom end , no? Did you remove the resonator from the tube between the air box and FI unit ? What is that things purpose anyways ? I never saw one before. Thanks for the video.
@TheGardenSnake2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much only fmf does those. It might be helpful but I’m not sure. The chamber in the intake is a helmholtz resonator and they’re a good thing to have. Kinda hard to explain it in a comment. They kinda do the same thing an expansion chamber does on an fmf pipe. You’re making a wave that bounces back and forth in the intake.
@ronald86732 жыл бұрын
@@TheGardenSnake Yoshi has the exhaust head pipe resonator/expansion chamber on the factory Honda mx race tream bikes. Akrapovic uses the exhaust head pipe resonator/expansion chamber on the Red Moto/European Honda Enduro Team race bikes. That heimholtz box was used in the early 80's on several factory mx 2 stroke race bikes . They were supposed to keep a partial vacuum in the intake track to allow a quicker fuel charge into the cylinder on the intake stroke. They were a fad that came and went. Even less need on a 4 stroke design. Unless maybe they are doing it to reduce sound volume? Also on the air box mod you did that is only half the battle. The (FI to air filter box) intake snorkel tube sits an inch away from the filter. I am cutting mine down to be almost flush with the box allowing more still air to be available to be drawn into the engine. The whole filter is not being used with the oem design. HP is still limited due to the oem smaller intake tract and FI unit but it will help. Thanks
