2001 Ford F250 Door Panel and Door Lock Actuator Replacement

The Motorcraft actuators I bought on Rock Auto have a plastic pin that actuated the lock shaft whereas the original had a metal pin.

This video did not help me to disassemble the lock mechanism. Another KZbin video showed how to do the process better by dismantling the exterior door latch.

I just rewatched the video, seems to explain everything pretty good to me. It is hard to show everything in side the door.

@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore When I did the disassembly, I was not able to undo the green clip that holds the threaded rod in place. I looked at another video, and that guy removed two 7mm nuts holding the exterior door latch to the door. The rod and green clip were then easily accessible. Suggest you revise your video to show this option. The rest of your video was great !!!! ED

I have to do both doors thanks for the video looks like it's going to be a bit of a pain but I'm happy that there isn't 20 clips that break everytime on the door panels

@@edholland7 I replaced two actuators before. Now I need to replace the other two. I didn't think to check KZbin the first time, but this video is exactly how I figured it out. But yeah, that green clip is a booger, because you can only get in that space with one hand. That clip was the hardest part of the entire job and took the longest to figure out. You have to pry where his figure is at 8:58 and the clip swings open. Update: I see what you mean, now that I've taken the driver's door pa0nel off. I have a 2000, and the door cutouts aren't the same. I will have to go in through the outside door handle. Update 2: 11mm nut. One is behind the rubber plug, above the Torx screws, 5:24. Peep inside the cutout to see the other one. Don't drop the nut inside the door. Also, make sure the cable to the actuator is on the correct side of the manual door lock. 5:24 is a good picture of what I'm talking about. You will have to take everything apart if the cable is on the wrong side of the rod. And of course, that's when it starts to rain.

You can get the actuator off without removing the latch.

I tried, it would not come off. Had to remove it.
