@@TheGCSEMathsTutor some people are good at other things, shouldn't force him into doing A-level mathematics just because he finds its easier such that it turns out to be 3-5 for him. If he's in set 2 in year 10 there might be a reason, not trying to discourage him, just want him to be careful since A-level will most likely be hard for him, especially with the pandemic in the way.

The functions f and g are such that f(x) = x2 − 2x g(x) = x + 3 The function h is such that h(x) = fg(x) for x greater than or equal to −2 Express the inverse function h−1(x) in the form h−1(x) = sir would you do this one the same way to the question at the end or differently because it has a inequality symbol how would you deal with the inequality part

Lee Larner Are you sure it is greater than or equal to -2 and not greater than or equal to -1? In terms of the process it is very similar to the last one here but I little more complex in terms of the inverse function! If you could clarify the inequality aspect I’ll see if I can help 😁🙏🏼

Lee Larner Do you have the link? I’ve got a solution but I feel like something is missing. When you substitute x+3 into x^2-2x you get h(x)=x^2+4x+3, you can then complete the square to give h(x)=(x+2)^2-1 rearranging for h^-1(x)=-2 +/- root(x+1) and in this way x cannot be less than -1 as rooting a negative would leave it undefined so x must be greater than or equal to -1 🤔

Lee Larner Aaaah no need I know the question now, so my solution is correct, the interpretation of x being greater than or equal to - 2 is indicating the required solution, so for h^-1(x) = - 2 +/- root (x+1) in order for this to be greater than or equal to - 2 it must be the positive version, so the solution is -2+root(x+1) only! 😁🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@user-yf6ns7ji4f I didn’t revise at all as maths has always been my strongest subject. However for stuff like sciences I revised two hours per subject per week, from the CGP revision guides. The longer before the exams the better, minimum 7 weeks for top grades, unless you’re willing to work your ass off shortly before the exams.
