Great stuff! Just a note, when stripping the outer cable jacket, be careful to not damage the insulating layer on the individual conductors. I've seen a few danger noodles in the wild and I don't like them. They can be impressively dangerous.

I think the "dont buy cheap tools" is only partially correct. If it's something you don't know if you're gonna use it more than once, then I have no problem cheaping out. If it's something you know you're gonna use a bunch, get decent stuff from the get-go. That said, I don't think you should go out and buy a bunch of tool truck shit, unless you *really* want it, or have a tool truck regularly stopping buy to warrantee stuff. I find gearwrench, tekton, husky, et cetera to be 90% as good at 20% the price, which means more budget for more tools.

I often add a piece of heatshrink where the outer jacket is stripped back from the individual wires. It cleans up the cut there and helps cover up the packing strings or fibers that are used to make the cable round.

You're absolutely right, I just didn't think of that until the video was in post.

local michigan man spends 180 dollars to make a cord that can be beaten by wrapping super long bare wire around the connector and squishing it down with a nut, for his 100 dollar 15kV transformer instead of a free 100kV transformer

The Knipex 12 40 200 are even better (same thing), they work for 7 gauge and under (though best for ~10 gauge and under). But generally anything from Knipex will be a best-in-class tool.

Absolutely no disrespect meant for the people involved in this channel's other projects/series, but I do find it quite inconvenient that the show I'm actually subbed here for -- YDAW -- is not the content I get on my feed. I don't think this format of having multiple vastly different shows on the same channel works, in all honesty. Every time I see one of these videos pop up, I have to remind myself, "who is this? why am I getting DIY videos?" I'm sure they're great, I just have zero interest in DIY and have to fight the compulsion to unsub every time it happens. Please consider splitting the channel into its own separate channels for each show. That way, you can attract and target specific audiences with each channel. I love YDAW, but I also love having a tidy feed. Please do not make me choose between them. Thank you. All the best, take care and stay safe everyone at CG.

those cables can be very useful! not just for transformers. I use cables like that to power ceiling lights without wiring them through out the ceiling. as usual, very professionally made video! great job!
