Good demonstration of how a few small diameter high voltage lines can carry the output of an entire power plant.

I saw a peak of 22 amps on the meter. So 22 amps x 120v= 2640w. After the first transformer (i.e. Over that wire) is 2640w / 14400v = 0.18333 amps.

I think the 14,4kv side was at around 83ma. Anyway that’s another great video of that series. Even a hv beginner could understand these fundamentals knowledges. Thanks and keep going like that

A thing about potential transformers is that their 'PT use' power rating is small for their size to keep the potential ratio as close as possible to spec (120 to 1 and 150 to 1 in this case) as the PT is usually feeding things that want to know what the primary potential is but would turn into angry expensive arc flash hazard of doom fireballs if fed that primary potential directly. They can be used for higher powers (some even specify this 'power use' rating on the nameplate or in the transformer documentation), which is especially important for niche applications like needing up to a few kVA of 120V (in the 'Murrica/Canaderp case) angry pixies and all you have is a 69kV or higher transmission circuit.

your experimentation is easy to follow. off camera sounds like you were using the angle grinder to dismantle the transformer.

You can get nice thin wire by taking a single strand from some zip cord or other stranded wire

That's a great idea! I tried going that route when we shot this, but the best I had was a single strand from some 12AWG THHN.....which is about the same size as this. In this video I ended up using a piece of Cat-6.

It fell off the roof during demolition of the building a few weeks ago. Thanks to Joey's exceptional build engineering it survived intact. :) Thanks to the help of a couple dear friends we recovered it and it will be appearing in future videos. :)

Looks like peak draw was 21.62A (at 10:08) but since you were stepping down from 14,400 at 150:1 you were only getting an output of 96v instead of 120v for a total of 2075W or about 144mA across the wires. That's assuming you had 120v in to the PT and it was outputting 14.4kv to your step down transformer.

I got busy with life and came back to a dead channel. I was keeping up with the high voltage stuff until like 2 years ago, Episode 15. He was always saying he was teaching the basics, so he could continue on with the more advanced high voltage projects later.

It's going to be a little weird at the beginning. The series is getting a MASSIVE upgrade. The shooting style will be different, but I think you're really going to like the changes. It's such a big change that I may be starting over from scratch. There will also be a LOT of supporting materials to go with the videos. :) You're in for some big surprises.

120v * 120/150 = 96V output * 23A max load = 2208W / 14400V = 0.15333... A on the HV wire.

Volts time amps equal watts. Is this Ohms law? Pull amps by lowering the resistance in the load. (Ohms law);
