Maybe it's already implemented but having an extra button that you can press to advance values by +10 with every press instead of +1 helps a lot while programming all that midi stuff. A bit like holding shift on a pc to move stuff around in a graphics program. It moves in larger steps. Cheerio!

Man, I'm so loving everything I watch about the G3. Just trying to figure out how to afford one at the minute. I am curious about whether this can be used with a Quad Cortex? Like, how would all the loops work with one? Could you possible make a video showing the G3 and Cortex working together? I'm very intrigued about both units.

Hi Luke, it would be a matter of utilising MIDI of G3 to control the QC, and putting the different elements of the QC signal path in G3 loops and interacting with pedals and anything else you put in G3’s loops. Literally endless possibilities

Preordered! My only concern is using mogami patch cables. The heads on the cables at 90 degree tend to be too thiccc and not fit on top of each other. The one control oc10 loop switcher has the inputs/outs offset which allow me to use the mogami easy. Hoping this won’t be an issue because I cannot afford to replace all my cables 😅 f

Dan you Rock! quick question about using Midi with Chase Bliss pedals... I'm having a hard time figuring this out, spoke with Paul from CB and he too is not so sure... I can't seem to change the Midi Chanels on the CB pedals with the G3. I have "gravitas, habit, warped vinyl, autamotone" the first 3 I mentioned needed a trs connecter so I purchase a MIDI BOX 4 from "disaster area designs" that's my set up... weird thing is when I unplug my pedals, the Midi Box 4 is still powering the pedal... I'm so confused... my goal is to organize the midi chanels on all of my 7 midi capable pedals... but I'm failing everytime i try. please save me

You need to check the MIDI TRS polarity. Disaster area should give you the ability to do that. I use MIDI with the CBA all the time, works great 👍

Hi Dan, thanks so much for this incredible G3. I'm amazed at the potential of way beyond the sky, of what can be done with a guitar now. I wanted to get an idea of the possibility of a future "update" with the G3, if I should wait or figure out some other way to achieve volume swells with an expression pedal placed in between my reverb and delays, and after the other affects so that I can get a volume swell that includes distortions or modulated fx's. I was hoping to not have to take up more room and add a volume pedal into one of the loops because i want fill up the loops with fx pedals. I'm guessing you'd have to be able to move around the "pre gain" in between the loops. any likely hood on this possibility in the near future? i wonder about this idea, I do have a Chase Bliss Gravitas and it has a volume knob... i wonder if i can use the volume knob via expression and set the pedal to give me what i'm looking for as a plan B and place it right before the delays and verbs?

Hi! Thanks for that. Currently you can use an expression pedal to control pre and post gain. If you want to be able to move the position of a volume pedal just put it in a loop 👍

Is the limit two CC messages per expression pedal? I’d like to be able to control multiple CC messages on three seperate pedals in one preset. Reverb, Delay, and Mood. For example you need to use multiple CC messages on a mood to control mix and reverb decay. But I also want to use the expression pedal for my flint and El Cap as well.

G3 newbie here. I’m migrating from G2 shortly (or hoping to) and was wondering if G3 and Atom can be paired to talk to each other via MIDI? My thought process here is I need more stereo inputs so was hoping to have mono pedals and myWet/Dry/Wet setup on a G3, to then have stereo pedals set up on Atom via TRS to make the most use of the available loops (in addition to Remote Loopy’s of which I have two already in my G2 setup?). Ideally I’d like to change presets on one and for it to talk to the other switcher and vice versa? Pipedream or doable? Apologies if this is in the manual, I had a look and it didn’t seem to cover it. If it does and it’s staring me in the face please do let me know. Cheers

Hi Richard, yes, 100% doable. Using MIDI the units can talk to each other, select a preset on one snd activate a preset on the other. Send a stereo out from one unit to stereo in on the other via TRS. Everything you want to do here, G3 has you covered 👍🤓

Question about the Midi Clock: I currently use the Disaster Area Designs DPC-5 gen3 as both a preset loop manager, but also use it's build-in Midi Clock function. It has a downside, though, that if you use this option, EVERY preset has to have a Midi Clock configuration; which means that each preset sends either a Midi Clock Start signal with BPM info, or Midi Clock Stop Signal. This presents an issue with, specifically, my TC Electronics Ditto X4; that when it receives a new Midi Clock Start signal, it will unquantize the loop it has (even if the BPM is the same value), which makes switching settings with a loop going a bad workflow. I know this is a totally niche problem, but it is a problem none-the-less So my question is: When configuring Midi Clock for presets, is the default configuration a NULL value? Or, in other words, not sending any new information via the Midi Clock signal?

Hi Dan might you know if I can control the original "HOG" version one, with the G3 midi as the controller with saving presets? and would that be by plugging into the "foot sw" section of the HOG or the MIDI section... i know the HOG has a big bulky 6 preset controller designed to hook into the "foot sw" section of the HOG. I like the way the HOG 1 sounds, so raw and wild compared to HOG 2... but I don't see how to control it with the G3 in the manual... The HOG 2 does explain presets can be controlled via midi... oh i hope there is a way for G3 to control the midi presets... hopefully the "foot sw" input works for G3 to use it just as the midi would be used on my Chase Bliss pedals

Unfortunately the original HOG midi input only reacts to pitch bend commands. G3 sends PC and CC messages 👍

Hi Pierre. The expression pedal can control either the pre or post gain circuits which are before or after the signal chain. If you want a volume pedal in the middle of the signal chain you’ll need to put a normal volume pedal in one of G3’s loops. Cheers mate 🤓👍

Hi Dan, I use the LFO in my Reflex to control parameters, where can I find some info on the G3 Step sequencer? Also using an expression pedal to control volume (pre/post) is awesome! Can it be placed anywhere in the signal chain like on my G2?

Cheers Andy. We’re still tweaking the sequencer, but basically set up to 16 steps, set either bpm or tap, and set your cc messages. The pre and post gains are set to be permanently pre or post, so for a dedicated volume mid signal chain you’d need a volume pedal 🤓👍

Hi Andy, we’ve been using these membranes for over 10 years and are on literally thousands of units and we’ve never had a problem with them, the original prototype still works great. But yes, if there was ever an issue we could replace the top board. Cheers mate 🙏

I have a question about connecting the Gigrig G3S to an expression pedal, specifically, the Mission Engineering EP-1 model. After reading the FAQ on the Gigrig site I would either need a Custom cable that inverts the tip and the ring on one side or a polarity/dip switch in the expression pedal. Absolutely. The MIDI clock will send out tap tempo Informacion to all Pedals and can also send out tap by remotes which is at the same time.

I ordered a G3 switcher today! This will be my first try at midi, and I'm finding this video more helpful than anything I've found. The thing I'm confused about is how you have all these connected through the switcher, seeing as there is only 1 midi in and one midi out on the switcher? I have a HX Stomp, Empress Zoia, expression pedal, and Whammy 5 that I want to hook up to the midi. Do I go from the send on one pedal to the return on the other chaining them together, or do I need some other kind of interface or equipment to achieve this?

Simply go from the MIDI out of G3 to the MIDI in of the first MIDI unit, then from the OUT/THRU of that to the MIDI in if the next unit, etc. just chain them together 👍

Bit of a midi hack for G3 that you may have already thought of but to make use of all the available banks/presets when using a few midi pedals could you let’s say within a g3 preset let’s say basic drive sound assign a few buttons on g3 to send a pc message that’s on the same midi channel as g3 midi revive to instantly bring g3 to another bank preset that had the same overdrive loop on but then within that preset all buttons are disabled but set to just send midi pc the your midi pedals to allow the ability to call up midi presets on said pedals on the fly and the just press the button that got you to that g3 preset them bring you back to original g3 preset by sending midi pc message on g3 midi revive channel .....? Just a wacky idea but would love to know if it’s possible!

@danielthegigrig say you have a preset using midi and expression. example, timeline and expression controlling effect level and you also have a stomobox mode preset with midi and expression such as mobious with harmonic tremelo using midi/expression controlling speed if you are on preset with say timeline/midi and expression controlling parameters but i want to throw some harmonic tremelo over the top in stompbox mode with midi/expression will the expression operate the last thing done, which would be the trem put on in stompbox! and then it would leave the timeline alone ? or will anything with midi/expression be changed as long as it is engaged regardless if its on a preset or stombox/sticky stomp?

Yeah I really liked that ES-8 lfo. I used that to make my ehx pitchfork into a chorus of my own choosing (via the expression out into the ehx)

Daniel TheGigRig Could I midi map one of the extension kits/hubs to be controlled by my es8 as it’s only usable as a midi controller now as there is -9volts dc at the input now and as you could imagine it makes a nice loud popping noise when changing patch’s and a replacement main board is about 400£ which is a non runner! Plus I’d love to set up a rack case with my pedals in it and only have a midi controller on the floor ! (That’s if we ever get out gigging again 😭) Plus to be honest I’m sorry to f#%£ I hadn’t just saved some more money and just bought the G2 when I got the es8 especially after seeing one in the flesh at gigrig HQ 2 summers ago while picking some gigrig power goodies while on my hols with the family.

hey, i ve got a question regarding midi with the G2 and whammy V I've got them set to the same midi channel but each time i click a preset ON THE G2 it swicthes the settings on the whammy V and i cant seem to select what preset i want it to be on the G2 If that makes sense???? Foot switch 1 will make the whammy go to 1octive up but i want that to happen on footswitch 7 but im not sure how i can change this

Hi, the MIDI on G2 is very simple, the PC messages have set numbers per preset, but you can send on multiple banks. The MIDI in G3 is able to do much much more 👍

Hey Dan, this is just blowing my mind about the possibilities here. At the end you mentioned about the presets increasing the options available; so are you saying that you can set up your expression pedal to say control your delay mix on one preset, and then on another preset use the same expression pedal to do something completely different? If so then that is absolutely amazeballs! I remember one episode of TPS with an amazing expression pedal that sent out midi messages, but it was not only expensive it was no longer available. The G3 (if I understand it correctly ) now means that my ordinary expression pedal can now do the same!

Hi Stephen. Expression pedal functions are programmable per preset, so on one have it control delay time and level, next preset reverb depth and modulation. Anything you can control with MIDI CC messages
