man, skating 6 miles across LA in the late '80s to see a concert is a video i woulda watched. glad there was freedom from constant surveillance back then, but also sad that we can't see the aesthetic, i can picture grey concrete, sun faded advertising and dust dotted with the neon colours of people out peacocking for each other

Saw them in Seattle @ the Ballard Firehouse - well almost. The show was oversold, and a local band played for what seemed an eternity... Then when the Godfathers were about to start their set - the local Fire Department came on stage and declared "This show has been oversold and the room is beyond capacity ~ you'll all have to clear out" The crowd went NUTS... the lead singer comes up to the microphone and sez "I don't know about you, but I'D GO GET MY F**KIN MONEY BACK! " At this point the PA is turned OFF, but not the amps. Nevertheless, the band opened with Birth, School, Work, Death." - and the lead singer starts screaming the lyrics with the Crowd - especially the rousing Chorus. Fire Department officials and the Seattle Police show up trying to clear the crowd, and get the band offstage. MAYHEM ensues... outside the scene looked eerily like the cover of the DK"s Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vege's, smoke and cop cars are everywhere... Though the band was not allowed to play that night they sure made an impression, and it was quite an experience. :) BIRTH ! SCHOOL ! WORK ! DEATH ! Will always remind me of that night.

@derfreischutz4380 3 жыл бұрын
@@martinger.becker1614 Oh boy, I know about your concerning perfectly well. My nickname is nothing other than the name of an opera by C. M. von Weber premiered precisely in Berlin. I am very used to German in music. I like German language and culture, I hope it prevails in the future. I am 47 years old and of course I know DAF and the singer Gabi, who recently died. I listen to Kraftwerk more but I have a couple of DAF LPs. Before I was born, my family lived for a few years in Köln (in fact my two sisters were born in the city), my parents were orchestral musicians. They left Germany just for my birth. When I was a teenager I also listened to the Rainbirds, I really liked them. I also know Die Toten Hosen. Romanization was very intense in Spain, only groups of Basques, Asturians and Cantabrians mainly escaped the Roman order. It is possible that what we know as the Basque language was more common in the rest of the peninsula but it was reduced to the northern mountains. The Basques were not always in that place, they arrived displaced from the east of the peninsula. It is certainly fascinating, however, it is a European treasure of the many that we have on this land. The Romans wiped out almost all Celtic culture (although incredible traditions survive today in Galicia or Extremadura) and Arab geographical domination for centuries erased a large number of vestiges of original cultures. I usually go to Germany for work, mainly trade fairs in Frankfurt and Nuremberg. It has been a pleasure to talk, take care.

No doubts about it, the main riffs are absolutely infectious. And like Matt Hueneman commented, the guitars tones are really great. Don't forget the role of the rhythm section, though: that's an authentic bulldozer that contributes to highlight the power of those riffs. For the record, old guy listening all kinds of rock since the early 70's and owning a collection of more than 5.000 albums here, so yea, I know a song or two in order to make comparisons :)

great live band, saw them in 1990 or so and they just walked on stage, picked up their gear and started right into it, way cool. I was so impressed, it can be such pain to watch a band tune their instruments for 15 mins...

Used to tape Rage in Aussie years ago. If a song caught my ear strait away , it was recorded to cassette. Most of the many songs are still playing on my outdated stereo int he garage and this is one of them . Top shitezen. Luv it. From the old Aussie. Carry onskie.

The absolute best two chord song of the 80's. For you guitarists out there, it's an E-chord followed by an A-chord. Repeat throughout. Yeah, I realize the bass player adds a G note between the E and A on the choruses, too--but it's still only two chords. What mighty iinterlocking riffs and chords they are, though. The ultimate protest song about.......the way life is.

The cycle of life. I bought the 12" vinyl of this song in the late 80's. Succinct and poignant message. It's a bit blurry now, but I think I saw them at Selina's Coogee Bay Hotel, Sydney. " Cause I Said So " is another powerful song by them. They were off the chain LIVE in concert. So were the crowd, bloody wild. Great band.
