My friend has a 23 IS 350 F- sport. It's been perfect. Before that he had a 22 G70 3.5 which had more tech and features but was back to the dealership many times because of electrical problems. I would love to have an IS500. Such a beautiful 5.0L.

I just got a 2024 IS 350 F Sport and two things it’s missing is wireless Apple CarPlay and power folding side mirrors. How are these not standard in a luxury car like Lexus?

I work for Lexus, taking photos and driving 100's of new and used different brand vehicles and I can tell you that their Mark Levinson sound system is the best I've ever heard in any luxury car. The sound is absolutely incredible! Over Mercedes, Audi, Maserati, Porsche, BMW, Rang Rover, Jaguar, you name it.

Acura ELS 3d is better for sure. I have had both. The ELS in the MDX/RDX is amazing and all the youtube vloggers agree on the ELS being at the top.

Great review just wish it was compared side by side with a standard 350 or even an F Sport Design which is basically a 350 base with cosmetics. I have a Design on the way but haven’t seen or driven one in person. Currently have a 20 IS300 F Sport

I own the 24 model with the hybrid configuration 😎 they sell it here in Morocco. I bought it 6 months ago. The screen shows 45 US MPG, it basically sips fuel. I have no idea why they don't sell them in North America. It's called IS 300h here.

I have driven a C300 (2018 and 2021 versions) for the past 6 years while waiting for the re-design of the IS350. I realize this iteration has been out since 2021, I believe and I could’ve gotten myself one then. I am thinking Lexus will finally do a major overhaul of the architecture for 2025 but this IS is absolutely gorgeous. I liked the C-class for the design, ease of and enjoyable drivability. I tell people that ask, it’s like driving a go-cart, it corners like it’s on rails. But Mercedes Benz insist on modeling all their sedans (C and E classes) after the S class which eliminates uniqueness between the models. Yes, there’s a hierarchy and you definitely would be able to tell if you’re driving a C class or an S class. The 2024 C class has an updated interior with a Tesla-like infotainment display. The outside design, however, is boring as can be. I have also looked into the Genesis G70 which is a really nice looking vehicle itself. However, I feel Hyundai is still a few years removed from really competing in the segment. Never been a fan of BMW and their ever-changing and sometimes excessive kidney grilles. The only thing, the one thing, I really don’t like is how Lexus, at 2024, still does not offer a panoramic sunroof on the IS. I don’t mind the antique V6 engine (it obviously performs better than the C class’ 4 cylinder turbo), the somewhat outdated interior specs (I actually appreciate the CD player) and the lack of ports and heating and cooling options for the backseat. I just don’t under why there isn’t a pano sunroof. Other than that, with the solid looks and reliability, this is a good sedan to own.

Another very thorough review! Personally, I think Lexus did the IS500 Launch Edition owners dirty by opening this color to everything in their lineup. Those folks paid an additional $5K+ for it, the suede interior, and the 1 of 500 badging. At any rate, Lexus (in my opinion) hit the 2021 redesign out of the park. The tech visually isn't as modern as other vehicles, but it IS modern! E.g. It comes with automatic braking, lane keeping assist, parking sensors all around, rear cross traffic alert, etc. Thanks for posting!

Can u also manumatic shift at the lever vs just paddles? Shld swap touch pad for dial like mazda 3. And not a fan of analog clocks really but doesnt look bad. Digital just faster.

I have a ‘22 and prefer the manumatic shifter. Really strong linkage with a little weight behind it. Nothing wrong with the paddles, but with RWD, something about that manual throw that just feels right.

I still like my 2015 Infiniti Q50 Sport 3.7L V6 better. Drove the IS 350 thinking it would surely blow my mind, and while it was a really nice car, it in no way left me even remotely convinced that a I needed to trade the Q in for the IS.

I did the same thing with my 17 q50s. Drove both the is350 and the Q50 and went with the Q50. Its a way better drivers car although I get that people want reliability, but the power is next level on the Q and way more fun for day to day driving.

A 3-4 year old car at best better be reliable. None of them make it past 10 years without significant work. That's the BMW problem. Past 10 they are a nightmare to keep on road which most folks don't want to deal with.

The whole reliability angle is a sad joke at this point. It's not some outstanding achievement, it's the byproduct of a car that dates back to 2006, both chassis and engine. Make a new IS with the same level of reliability and then you'd have something. As it stands the car offers nothing over the competition other than the expected reliability.

We have a world of lease specials that can't last past 100k without significant work being done. Most first owners dump these cars cause they don't want the liability. How many junk yards do you want to see filled with cars that just need parts and long hours of labor thrown at them? Reviewers NEVER talk about reliability to mentioning it is important cause so many folks forget how important it is right up until they're into their ownership experience dealing with gremlins. Do you like the ignore the obvious that there is so much freaking waste with cars that can't work, and that aren't going to be recycled just given how hard it is to extract all the composite materials they are built out of. For that reason alone, most folks, fed up of planned obsolescence, would choose something that will last, won't break, and can be kept on the road for reasonable cost all while delivering performance that is more than substantial for daily and weekend fun.
