4. Didn't beat either of the Big scalps (ABs or SA), lost to a so called weak Australia and then had to play a full strength team against japan to save face. Baffling selections and omissions didn't help either

When Ben Spencer was subbed in both games England were winning. Lost both games and Borthwick makes him the scapegoat. Coaching masterclass!!

nice video and really liking Alex Goode’s analysis; thank you. Would like to see some more technical stuff / video breakdowns of plays etc if possible. Keep up the good work.

Should England sack off the 'Blitz' defence?
@TheBoarder3603 күн бұрын
Yes they should... there are times it works, but clearly not 100% of the time!

Will Stuart has been a MASSIVE positive this autumn. As the series has progressed the defensive system and England being unable to close out games have become the talking points. But pre New Zealand the big question mark was tighthead. The fact that Opoku-Fordjour has now been capped is a huge plus in the tighthead position. Well done gents.

Tbh ENG could have gone 3-1 in the fall. I am not an ENG fan so no bias here

Misread this as saying he was a massive problem and was about to go nuclear 😂😂 but yeh agreed, he’s been class. Front row looking better but still issues there with depth.. Baxter needs some development. Stuart and genge are bolt on starters. I think we need to sort out centres too, slade isn’t making it to the next World Cup and Lawrence is a 13 not a 12. With the talent we’ve got in wingers maybe give Fayi-waboso the 12 shirt, he’s young enough to develop still and he’s got the build for it. We’d have some scary centres if him and Lawrence clicked and still a wealth of talent to choose from on the wings
@darthmaul4082 күн бұрын
@ Is never thought of Feyi-Waboso as a 12 option, but you’ve really got me thinking there. I wonder with these new contracts if Borthwick could ask the Chiefs to play him at 12? It would happen in Ireland or New Zealand because of the power of the unions.
@AnalogFilmDiary2 күн бұрын
@ it was Reiko Ioane switching from wing to 13 for nz that got me thinking about it, we’ve got like 5 or 6 wingers that are phenomenal athletes and limited centre options so yeh with central contracts why not give it a go

6/10. Should have beaten All.Blacks. Fronted up well to Boks. Basics failed against Aus. Did the job vs Japan. Downsides: didn't blood the players we could have (not seen Hill, enough of Fin Smith, Asher should have come in at the start and no Cole). Too many players that won't be best players in their position in world. Slade, Earl at 8, JvP (Spencer treated harshly), Isekwie, Ewels, Davidson (why bring him if not to play?), But we will stick with Borthwick through 6 Nations and ultimately, the aim should be to create a stable roster of bench players who will energise and improve side. Just do what we all want and utilise U20 players. They have no fear and they play to the line and very quickly.
@kev63inuk4 күн бұрын
Agree on all of your points though with that fixture list we needed to have continuity of selection to get some wins.So many players still with few caps , so Bortwick had his hands tied in looking at new players. Would myself have started Baxter Cowan-dickie and Fordjour yesterday but least they have now been in camp a while and that’s important.

@@kev63inuk I suppose a national head coach nevers moves as quickly as we would like! I think the England men's football team is a good example of how to approach it. I'm excited by the U20s mentality. They clearly have a mindset to dominate and win at all costs, in addition to obvious talent. It's all in the head, and making the right decisions under pressure. I associate this team right now with knocking on in crucial plays, not securing ball properly in scrums and mauls, and miss-tackles due to playing system over instinct. It takes time and even the 2003 bunch had to mess up over and over before finally they cracked it...and let's face it, there's no other world class coaching options so we may as well carry on! They aren't far off...but still don't dominate scrums, play down the backline fluently enough, and rush up every time with the 'hammer'. Players need to be brave enough to play what they see, and not always what they are told. Woodward didn't really coach his players, they coached themselves...

IMO Will Stuart was the one bright development light along with bringing back the A side. However, SB is not blooding enough players and not picking on form - weather that is due to the environment of the RFU or his own intention... I'm not sure. As we know, Slade had only played 50 minutes before the series... He should not have been even considered. It should have been taken as a great opportunity. We could have played Will Butt to combine with Lawrence, picked Dingwall and Freeman or Northmore to combine with Smith etc... but no, we tried the same thing and expected a different outcome... BTW - Alex Goode's very good - his point on Mitchell and Porter is well made.

Controversial opinion but id love to have seen Goode given more chances to play for England. He was electric and its such a shame he didnt get more of a shot when the revolving door of coaches came and went during his tenure as a player in his prime.

Was the difference between almost and achieving wins just the defensive errors?
@pietsmit55874 күн бұрын
If the Japan game was played first and then the other games played out as they did, meaning England lost the last three games then. England would be in a more dire position now.
@TheSavvy703 күн бұрын
England just don’t have the players right now. Squeaked past Italy and Wales. Comfortably beaten by Scotland. No wins v Southern Hemisphere. 4th would be an achievement in the 6N.

the cope is hard with pom fans and its not just from these blokes... Ive heard from multiple other commentators about the AB games "we were the better side", maybe for a one off but 3 in a row. Same logic for ABs vs SA last 3 games, NZ looked better than SA but the Boks know how to close off a close game. Then losing to Aus & SA at home.. come on its been a bad to average season, front up lol. Most NZ fans think the ABs have had a bad seson with 10/14 wins lol

As a quins fan Oscar Beard seems to me to be the answer to Englands attacking issues, bounces off players and is so effective in traffic, with Lawrence outside of him that’ll be scary for any team

Firstly referencing your thumbnail thankyou for your service, secondly how can rugby progress by expanding it's net of talent - getting buy in from non traditional areas if it insists on charging elitist prices for tickets to watch England, add journey costs, food & drink etc it is untenable for any fan outside say 15-20 miles outside the M25 to attend a home game.
